Maol Chean Dearg is a fine hill with a decent walk in and ascent. Looks like the snow has well and truly gone. I am glad the weather held for you, which is always nice, and you got some nice views. The bothy looked palatial. That general Torridon area is my absolute favourite in Scotland. You are clearly spending time up north west recently and I look forward to your next video. Thank you again.

Hi Jonathan, I agree with you that Torridon is the best area in Scotland with many stunning tops.
We're planning a walk into Glen Affric tomorrow so finger crossed the weather plays the game. Cheers

That's a lovely hill. It always reminds me of Stob Ban in the Mamores for some reason. 🤔
Nice to see the bothy is in good shape.

Hi David, Yes, you're right the Corbett does have a similar profile to Stob Ban. Super area that delivers a full variety of tops. Cheers

Hi Frank, The bothy is certainly perfect for this top and I'd forgotten just how it could accommodate. The day was better than expected as we thought it was going to be clag all the way. Another walk scheduled in Glen Affric tomorrow so looking forward to getting at a few remote tops. Cheers

This video brings back memories. I remember climbing this hill from Coulags and stumbling up its stony upper slopes more than 30 years ago, although I do not remember the approach paths being quite as substantial and distinct. I think some money was put into the improvement of the paths in this area a few years ago. On our ascent we had excellent views of the Torridon hills and Ben Damph and a photograph of neighbouring An Ruadh Stac along with its tiny lochan taken on the ascent of this hill found its way into Irvine Butterfield's 'Call of the Corbets' book. The Coulin Forest is an enjoyable area in which to walk and the improved footpaths will make it all a lot easier for many. We also did an ascent from Torridon which I think is a more interesting route providing excellent images of Maol Chean-dearg's north face which is quite impressive under its winter coat.

Hi Ian, This top is always a favourite and we have tackled it from the north and south. The first agent was 1984 and the seven visit since have never disappointed. We also managed to combine it with the two munros to the east which made a fine day. Its such a magical area for all things outdoors. Cheers

Hello, You would certainly get up to the col just before the steeper section but the path going through to Torridon would certainly open up many other areas. Cheers
