Hello, Cesar you saved my life. You have been kindly leading people on how to behave with dogs. My neighbor got a big bull dog that was aggressive. One day walking outside he came at me barking and charging me. Instinct lead me to stand still and when he got within 2-4 ft I hissed and snapped my fingers. I had fallen in love with Daddy and therefore didn't panic. He froze and looked confused, not as confused as the neighbors. Thank you for giving of your heart and I miss Daddy and Junior ❤😢
Hi Cesar.. Hope you are okay and keeping well.. Thank you so much for your Brilliant films.. God bless you from Brian and Jenny Lancaster from Bradford West Yorkshire England
Thank you for sharing great post. Very valuable information for all dog guardians. Much love light blessings to you and all that surrounds you dear Cesar.
I appreciate Cesar Millan so much. I rescued two retired racers from a terrible race track in Daytona, Florida. I was lucky the two dogs I rescued were so docile loving, needing love needing attention unfortunately I lost them both five years due to osteosarcoma, but why are using dogs as racing animals in horses as well. They probably were the two best. Pets I’ve ever had my entire life..
Hi Cesar, that was excellent, I shall remember the peace energy bit and stay in that zone when next I meet an aggressive dog, you are a great teacher thank you xx.
Greyhounds are such lovely dogs! But, from my own experience with greyhounds, especially those that a rescued, so many have built-up trauma from their time on the race tracks that it can be so difficult to help them recover and move beyond those memories. And I know Cesar always tells us the dogs don’t hold onto the past the way that we do, but I can tell you that our greyhound was so traumatized by her time on the track that any loud noise could send her into a spiral to the point where we had to have the TV going, fans on high, and put a blanket over her crate just for her to calm down 😢 Glad to see more greyhound content on here that shows the full spectrum of these beautiful, zoomie doggos 🐶
❤🩹The Spanish greyhound (galgo español) is mostly used for hunting rabbits. They are kept in squalid conditions and bred to have huge litters, driven to the brink of death in training, and then tortured/killed or abandoned to starve at around 3/4 years of age. The lucky ones, upwards of 80K PER YEAR (you read that right) end up in Spain's overflowing shelters. And the worst part is, loopholes in Spanish law make it legal to abuse hunting dogs because they are simply tools. I wish I were making it up. I myself have adopted one and he is the hilarious and beautiful love of my life.
It's not trauma, it is prey drive. They are either used for hunting, or racing where they chase a lure (or sometimes use live bait). They spend their entire life surrounded only by dogs that look exactly like them (other greyhounds) and have never ever been in a house before, or even left where they were bred and raced. Nothing to do with trauma. I am an owner, btw.
I've seen in some other training videos where the trainer has a helper dog too, and the helper dog puts the aggressive dog in its place (meaning they show the aggressive dog they are not the baddest on the block). Try checking out Joe Beckman and his helper dog Prince. Maybe if your dog was corrected by a helper dog, it could help for those moments when you're not looking. I'm not a trainer, just someone trying to help with some other suggestions. ✌️
I hope you do a follow up with this greyhound ( Spanish Galgo) as people under estimate the power of these dogs but they can be fantastic pets, in the right hands.
Peter Koekebakker!! Now I got the chance to see him😅We got our dog in 2018, from the animal shelter he founded. Unfortunately Peter passed away that year. He’s a hero; May he rest in peace🙏🏼❤
Me too! It was the first time when I felt deeply sorry for this wonderful dog! I know Cesar took good care of him and now Amigo Is A Happy Dog! Greetings from Bucharest/ Romania 💌🌞😊
Here in Spain, these galgos (the Spanish term for grehound) are mostly used to hunt rabbits, and are the most abused and discarded breed of dog in the world. It's utterly horrifying how they are treated.
Hola Cesar buen dia!!! He visto algunos video tuyos en español y he escuchado tu testimonio de vida y con llegaste llegar hasta donde estas. Tienes algún curso en español?
Can someone explain to me what he’s doing with his hands to correct the dog, where is her tapping to get them to redirect their attention and is it a forceful kinda poke? Thanks
He's actually a galgo, which is a Spanish type of sighthound used widely for rabbit hunting and only minimally for racing. Although they look similar, they're actually quite different from greyhounds, and systematically abused here in Spain.💔Absolutely gorgeous dogs. I'm sure Cesar set Amigo on the right path and I hope to find the full video...
We adopted a racing greyhound from a centre based on information about how we would fit into each other’s lives. Researched the breed. Trudy is a beautiful member of our family.
Me too! 3yr old Galgo rescue from Spain 4 months ago. He's aggressive and sent my friend's dog to the er for attacking his neck. I've been watching a lot of aggressive dog-training videos and learning a lot. Training every single day. I also (with the help of professionals) matched and rescued a much bigger 4yr old female Greyhound that puts the Galgo in his place when he gets out of hand. They allowed me to foster her in case it didn't work out but she's a wonderful addition. She's very calm, confident, assertive, alpha and helps me with setting the tone of what is expected. It was rough in the beginning, but every day, little by little, he's improving. I'm in love with them both!
I question if their is a similarity involved with humans. If the efficiency of the counter would be the same. What would be the human variation of this? Without it being a fight of course.
My mini schnauzer (he’s big for a mini at 30 pounds) does this but he doesn’t respond to any corrections. It’s like someone flips a switch and he lunges at a dog. He doesn’t look at them and then go at them. As soon as he sees them he reacts and it’s awful. I’ve tried a lot of different ways to correct this behavior, but nothing helps him. It’s very frustrating. His excitement level spikes as soon as he sees another dog.
My little Pomeranian behaves like this. I’ve had her since she was a puppy & the only way I can get her to calm down is to pick her up. She would take on any size dog - 0 to red in a split second. She is 9 now, never been able to calm her down 😢😢
