    I think this was probably done in a more confusing way, as opposed to providing clarity.

    I know this is late to the party, but for what it's worth, I spoke to Rich Solar support staff a few days ago and they said you can hook up 3 200 watt solar panels assuming you're not in an area where you'd get 100% solar. Outside of that, he said you should rarely get up to 550 Watts of power in total across the three panels.
    I'd like your thoughts on this.
    I have the 40amp one and 2 200 watt panels on my roof (came with my camper) - thinking about adding a 3rd panel, which led to the call to their support team.

      Its too late here but for others, yes, a 200w panel will average maybe 80% most days. so lets say 160 most of the day and depending on your day.
      So that would be 480w power from 600w of panel. A 40a controller is perfect for this.

    Can you have 2 sets of solar panels feed their own charge controller but both charge the same battery?

    Try series parallel.

    Thank you sooooo much for your teaching. Q: I’ll have 600 watt of solar and a 100ah lith battery. I’ll be powering a 30 lb thrust trolling motor- 30 amps on max. What size controller. Is there a downside to getting a 100amp controller?

    I was under the impression you only have to worry about going over the voltage. Over the wattage was ok as well as over the amperage. It’s called over paneling.

      For the sake of the video I was following the manufactures recommendations. But yes you can over panel a lot of charge controllers.

      What is over panelling?

    • @zalllon
      @zalllon ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@prereloluwa over panelling is when you have a panel setup that can produce more power then you can take advantage of, due to limitation of the charge controller.

    • @zalllon
      @zalllon ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You do have to worry about voltage being too high from panels to charge controller, you have to worry about amps being too high (although some charge controllers will just cut the apps that I can use), you have to worry about not having enough voltage as some charge controllers have a minimum Required to invert power, and this results in just being aware of how much wattage produced by your paddles that you can take advantage of. This is all from the perspective of combining the panels in a configuration where you can maximize the output and inverting of your charge controller without overwhelming it or exceeding it’s limitations.

    Do you know why the solar panel companies, label MAX SERIES FUSE RATING, when it is really max parallel fuse rating, what am I missing? Thanks for the video!

    I have the 20 Amp Rich Solar charge controller and its slightly over paneled, but it almost never passes the 20 amp maximum current. Greetings from Jamaica.

    why would you wire the panels in series? I would think you'd want to wire them parallel to maintain your system voltage?

    • @1GREATDANE
      @1GREATDANE 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      And You would have to add a Fuse to each Panel plus Extra Cabling Cost

    You could add another Solar Charge Controller and another solar array

    Well my friend my system I just bought on wish came with an 800 watt panel. So what that tells me is when it comes to solar you didn't do your homework. If you put in enough solar controllers, enough battery banks, and enough panel banks, plus if you live in a place like Northern Nevada that is equipped for living on solar, many houses in the North Valley get sun on both sides of them all day. I developed a system where you can tie multiple systems together on the outside, but each system is still running to its own controller and Bank of batteries. I found batteries online for $59 that hold 300 watts and these are the nickel-iron batteries. I'm still building my system, it's getting bigger everyday and generating more power every day. Right now I'm about up to 60000 w a day, but on my roof alone I can get 200 panels. On the empty unused spots on my land, these are spots that sit in the sun all day. And I can build scaffoldings with 360-degree panels they will not only have panels all around the circumference but they will also have a panel stuck right on top too. These are going to be variable directional panels. By the time I finish putting in all of my systems, and all the panels I want to put in, I will only have spent about $4,000 thanks to shopping at wish, Walmart online, Amazon, temu, Dr. Prepper, oh my God the websites, there are too many to list. But when I get all my systems in, I will be completely off-grid, if I tie into the grid they will have to pay me because I will be generating that much power. I will end up generating roughly about a half a million Watts a day when I'm done.

    i got a 30Amp go power charge controller and i want to do 3x200W panels in parallel. Each panels is has Short Circuit Current Isc(A): 11.47A. Can this work? or we have to stay below 30Amp? thanks

    I want to install the most amount of solar panels my charge controller can handle.
    I use all 100 watt panels in my array. My Victron MPPT 75/15 is rated for up to 12v-220 watts.
    I can have one string of 3 panels in series and remain under 75volts/100 watts.
    I'm gonna sound like a real novice now. But if the charge controller can work with 220 watts max,
    I can have a 2nd string for a total 200 watts in my array.
    Is that what a Series parallel setup is?

    i can see the panel rated 18 volts . How is the connection going to be like when its conected to a 24volts battery system .. Since when u connect 2 panels in series its going to be 36 volts which will be more than the volts of the battery

    • @perkunast9680
      @perkunast9680 16 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Old post but I will reply, might help someone. If you connect them in series the voltages multiply. This can be a good thing, since you have higher voltages you wont need as thick wires. Also when the sun goes down so does the voltage so you get more of the low light. Your charge controller can step down the voltage for your Battery so its not a problem. But you need to understand the controllers have maximum input voltages and each one different. So if your maximum is 50 volts and you have 3 panels of 20 volts your over.

    none of this math makes sense. there is a max voc and a max watts on the charge controller? what number do i go by max watts or max voc? i have a jjn 200w bifacial panel. my voc is 28.1 if i get 3 panels in series that's 84.3v so I'm under the max volts but I'm over the the watts max.???????????

    this seems very dumb, if youre trying to maintain a 12v system wouldnt it just make more sense to mount the 5 panels in parrallel which would resullt in a 12v 500w circuit with higher ampage (still within the controllers limits)

    • @VictorInusa-q6w

      Exactly my thoughts. Connect in parallel and the voltage stays below your limits.
