I lived in England from 1989 til 2001 and fell in love with many BBC2 Idents, their atmospheric lighting, hypnotizing sounds and soft speakers' voices. The Powder Ident was my favourite. At times I'd get shivers on my forearms watching it. I thought then and still think now that many BBC2 Idents from the 1990s are wonderful works of contemporary art that do deserve to be displayed at London's Tate Modern or Design Museum or New York's M.O.M.A. Benedetto Bruno. Palermo. Italy.
7:30 When I first saw the Fluffy Dog Ident, I thought it was a Bath Sponge just because of the colour & the more likely the quality of our VHS tapes at the time

Id have no doubt watched a few of these when I was a kid. I was born in 1989 so I would have still been a baby by then but we was a family that loved a bit of TV. When me and my brother had our own tv in the bedroom we'd always have it on Sleep. We used to watch Men Behaving Badly, Birds of a Feather, Red Dwarf, Harry Enfield, Always watched Simpsons at 6pm I think. Robot Wars, South Park (our parents would kick off if they caught us watching that lol) But since I got to my 20's I slowly went off TV. TV is just so poor now. I dont even own a TV. I think its an outdated media but most of all the BBC is just so twisted and disgusting. Which is a shame because I believe the BBC was such a treasure and an envy of the world. I remember going abroad in early 2000's and it was somewhat a relief that you could watch the BBC. Absolute shame. But apparently the BBC hates people like me, being white British and loving my country's history etc
The Sound design in these idents are absolutely incredible! I still can't get over the ethereal vibes from Optics and Silk
No
*is.
and it was made in early 90s
Thank you for all these of course, which show off well all of the then BBC2 idents and music too. Well done!
And of course 10 out of 10 really too-why not indeed?!

16:58 The Wave Ident is one you could watch all day & never get bored of it
The Optics Ident is one of the cleverest idents I think as I always wondered how they created this amazing effect
These were the best idents BBC ever had anywhere on their network. Closely followed by the BBC One balloon.
5:39 The Powder Ident gives off the elusion that the 2 is crashing into a wall
