The one-two punch of "As the years go by, everyone will find someone that they like more than you" and "You are most unlike your mother and father" hit me like a goddamn truck when I first saw it and it still aches on re-watch. Props to Brennan and Murph for hitting the aspec angst nail right on the head.
“He’s hot without the hat” is so funny / god I forgot about when he shot the mirror what a good idea Emotionally I am Lou rocking slowly back and forth while Baron talks Faertheaethrearell
When Sklonda talks, I remember Izzy saying on the game changer truth or dare that Brennan wants to be a dad... and believe he could be Emperor of DadMoms in a way we need a child to have at some point
“I made you up so that there wouldn’t be any questions.” (That phrasing makes me feral btw) “Questions about…what?” Runs through my mind all day everyday and the fact that Murph later is like “this is truly Riz’s greatest fear and he isn’t well equipped enough to deal with it” literally slays me??? Like it implies a lot about how hard he was trying to hide his asexuality like even from his own personal fucking nightmare demon he couldn’t be honest about how scared he was of being different and unlovable and abandoned. I have no idea when exactly it was that Murph decided to pivot Riz from being just some kid who is nerdy and didn’t have any romantic interest to being fully asexual and fully adopting the ace experience, fears and all, but he rolled with those punches so effortlessly. Because you could very easily say that season 1 Riz’s greatest fear probably WOULD have been being wrong and getting his friends hurt; but Riz the character has been hiding it from himself for awhile and Murph the person probably only just had it click that like, “oh yeah, Baron is completely correct. That is his biggest fear.” There have been times in Dimension 20 campaigns where Brennan tries to wring confessions or information out of his players just by being presumptuous or following a story thread (think of Kristen and Tracker’s fight where Brennan, as tracker, tried to get Ally to say the “real reason” Kristen didn’t tell her, but as far as ally knew they were being 100% honest) and Baron’s prying could have easily been a presumption that fell through. Murph could have fought and reconciled that Baron isn’t a real threat because they’re wrong, but no, Murph let Brennan be right. Murph conceded to the story that Riz is ace, that his biggest fear is being fundamentally broken and abandoned, and that he was so scared of that fact that he hid it away when asked. (P.s. I am so sorry I always end up writing paragraphs in your comments about the same shit but I get so passionate when I watch your comps)
thank you so much for making these compilations!! i watched fantasy high freshman year a few years ago but was unable to watch sophmore year due to the format and length but i just LOVED riz's character so much
"And bravely take a nap." as someone who's had stress related insomnia since I was a kid, I feel that one so hard.
an undiagnosed neurodivergent aroace goblin just trying to solve mysteries is something that can be so personal actually
