I'm pretty sure his nightmare has 300% come true. He quit his prestigious job for a promiscuous woman, fathered a daughter who is not his, fig literally saying she's the manifestation of the betrayal of his marriage, letting down his daughter he still loves by existing in his miserable state, ex partner is THRIVING, man who cuckolded him also THRIVING. Someone please assist me I am missing so many things
Claire Wright The current woman who claims to love him forced him to sleep in a cot in the garage until he can “prove himself worthy” of her, the son of that woman was desperately trying to kill him for a while, his car got repossesses by fantasy Uber, he somehow got forcibly wrapped around the axle of the hang-van and at some point had ants crawling all over him, and no one noticed he was missing until much later. He has died three times, and one of those times was by the pure force of nature his current paramour was married to. Also, I think the biggest nightmare for Galear would be a normal day where everything went suspiciously well, like, everything goes just as he hopes, leaving him in a state of constant anxiety waiting for something to go wrong, for the other show to drop, and it gets to the point where he is obsessing over all the bad things that could happen that he can’t even enjoy what is happening.
I unironically believe Gilear's nightmare is either not having Fig in his life or Fig still hating him. Like, the dude's life is a mess, but Fig is that last decent connection.
Worse, things would be _better_ for him up until he realizes what’s different. Much like Fabian’s (Leviathan) nightmare, he’d get the “… I thought this was a nightmare?” vibe up until he realizes exactly what has changed.
I'd imagine Gilear's nightmares would culminate in an illusion of Fig, his daughter and the only person who Gilear knows loves and believes in him for reasons he can't seem to fathom, telling him he's a disappointment and a failure as a father. The part in the chat where Emily was talking about how her dream was for Fig to bring Ayda on tour with her, and everyone started dunking on Emily for being so naive that she thought she'd inevitably end up with her first high school girlfriend forever, and Emily got legitimately upset and offended lol.
It’s the genre mismatch problem, when you think of it through the lense of a high school/coming of age story of course fig isn’t going to end up with the first person she dates But if you recontextualise that to the epic fantasy genre of course fig ends up with the woman who leapt into (and tried to flood) the 9 hells to save her
@@jacobclements3652 100% they separate at some point but come back together later. It just feels better to me if they have experiences outside of the first ever date
Galearr's nightmare would be fig dieing infront of him and you all know it. He can make it through all this sadness that is his daily life, but just knowing his daughter is happy and safe keeps him going. He would have nothing to live for without his daughter.
I dont think it would be Fig dying. She's an adventurer, she's going to die, and I feel like Gilear would accept that. I think it would be Fig saying that he isn't enough, an embarrassment, and her abandoning him.
Ok, but what if, since just a normal day in his life IS his nightmare, the nightmare king would have no effect on him. Cause he lives his nightmare everyday.
I kind of want a scene where all the PCs are paralyzed with fear over their own nightmares thanks to the nightmare king and Gilear just strolls up. Looks at all their fears and laughs saying t:his is what you guys fear after all the stuff you've done this is what your afraid of." Calling out how stupid the fears are giving the party strength then walks up straight to the king and says "You may controlled the nightmares but I've lived through mine everyday of my life since I've met them and to me you are nothing"
There's that old classic College Humor video where Brennan plays an elf coming home for Christmas and he uses the voice he would later give Gilears, and so I always felt since seeing that video that that confident character is what Gilear used to be and could still be when he eventually gets his groove back. Everybody loves an underdog story, and he's due for a win
Brennan, I imagine that Galear's nightmare would be if he was granted immortality but nothing else. Still just as pathetic but now even death is rejecting him.
I have a feeling that there is build up to an endgame where Glear appears with a crown of yogurt and accidentally stumbles directly into the nightmare king, swapping crowns in the process and fulfilling the prophecy being the chosen one, doomed to wear the crown for eternity
I don’t think Brennan has fully considered what would happen on discord if he didn’t. We would just have to tattle and daddy (Sam) would make him. We learned that trick from Ally.
I think that if Gilear did not immediately die of a physical hazard, he would have been the most effective in the nightmare forest. He's already at rock bottom, what can they show him that would break him more? and becoming increasingly afraid so as to progress through the forest would be second nature to him as he is more frequently anxious or frightened than nearly any of the bad kids. He could walk through his nightmares with comparative ease and come out the other side with little to no difference.
It's weird to think that since jawbone is dating fig's mom, fig has 3 dads. Her biological father, the father who raised her, and the guy who's dating her mom.
Okay but the Nightmare Forest is all about giving in to your fear and Gilear is the king of being resigned to his terrible life and just continuing to live in whatever hellscape he’s put into-I think he would have gotten to the center of the forest IMMEDIATELY because he wouldn’t even bother running away from his nightmares. He would have just been like “well, I guess this is my life now, not much worse than it was before”
When they were looking at the 7 sins armour in hell, Emily was considering putting Gilear in the Gimp suit of Lust, but I was like no no no, Gilead needs to be put in the Pride armour because it is truly the most antithetical to his nature and I think it would be good for him to have some magical bolstered dignity. That's all I really want for Gilear, I don't need him to be the chosen one, but if he could be allowed to have just an ounce of dignity I'd be so pleased for him
It’s canon in my soul that Gilear would be unaffected in the nightmare forest because he is already living it. This man has hit rock bottom and has been living there ever since
I have yet to see the second season of Adventure High, but I _LOVED_ the first season and The Unsleeping City. They pack an immense amount of charm in every episode, and now that I'm listening to this exchange with the crew, I realize that I've missed out on some really good roleplay, improv, set design, etc. Gotta check it out.
Just FYI, there is no set design, because season two has been played live on twitch, with no miniatures or set. Its all been pure roleplay. Defiantly still worth it to watch though. In my opinion, in some ways it is actually better then the first season, because the lack of set lets Brennan really go wild. The only restrictions are the players imagination, its really great!
Gilear became the group mascot and parent. Like the kids really end up loving him. He went and slaughtered a hoard of demons for them, went through so many deaths for Fig’s sake. I adore Gilear every time he wins and improves I cheer for him. I want him to be happier
I think his nightmare would have to be something like failing so hard, he gets Fig killed. Or she just gets fed up with him and leaves. Fig is the constant good in his life, though. He’s not the worst off if he has her still
I just wanna say: I can not be convinced Gilear ISN'T the CEO of the Breaking News News Station. Listen to the voices. Pay attention to those kinks. It's very clearly Gilear.
If I may be so bold, I feel like Gilear’s nightmare would be reliving the day he learned Fig was a Tiefling. He got very angry and said hurtful things. He lost his daughter and he lost his wife. To this day, even though the kids love him, he has never felt good about himself, and doesn’t allow himself a simple luxury in life. He has no pride because he knows he has done wrong, and it haunts him to this day.
Spoilers for Junior Year: It suddenly makes sense why Brennan sent Gilear off on his honeymoon for most of the season, simply to give his character some time to cool off
This was my favorite part of listening to the fireside chat. It's strange how I'm so invested in just some random dude. They never got Gilear armor either. Looking forward to what he does at the end of this season of fantasy high.
I think one of the reasons Gilear is such a big deal for fans, other than just being funny, is that he has these moments like going into hell with Fig or wearing the Pride Armor where we get to see a normal person be “good enough”. Like yes he fumbles the bag a lot but in this magical world as an audience member it is nice to see someone with no super human powers still making a difference in a human way through his relationships with these kids. Like Gilear’s power lies in how much people care for him and the comfort he brings people and there is something so real about that.
I think Gilear would just not have a nightmare, he's already living a hell, there is nothing he could truly fear more than what he has already experienced
Emily: Leaving him was like telling him that he was not enough... Ally: ...He Was Not Enough! That's not cruelty, that's just spitting straight facts y'all, (Edit: guess who edited to grammar check but didn't recognize that he somehow completely messed up one of his favorite performers names?...this guy!)
Gonna be 100, I side with Zac on this one. If the entire group can survive an 100 ft drop with no physical harm, I'm not thinking I'm not enough I'm thinking my group is full of superheroes and I need a nap.
my head cannon would be that his nightmare was actually a really wholesome reality where things are going his way, he feels loved, is successful, and feels fulfilled. And then he woke up. The real nightmare is that he will never be free of his torment
Okay but y’all hear me out, gilear’s nightmare would probably be Fig when she first found out about being a tiefling and the idea of her going back to resenting him
I'm sure somebody has said it, and it's too late since Jr Year is about to start, but it'd be funny if all the revivifies had given Gillear powers - like Janet/Derrick from The Good Place. He's been rebooted so many times that he's got some levels in something
7:30 or, maybe since real life is his nightmare, he just walks straight to the center un affected, and defeats Kalina by himself because his life is already so hell that this ain't shit. Make him literally the chosen one
Siobhán: "We gotta get him back into therapy, get his self esteem back up." Brennan: *completely ignores it, looking for the next question (because he knows it will never happen) Emily: *vicious staring*
It's crazy seeing this pop into my recommended feed and watching this back knowing the "I HAVE NO PRIDE" Moment was going to happen in later episodes is kinda WILD.
Just a personal thought for Gil's nightmare have it play as a day in his life and he just rolls with it cause he lives it everyday so he's just numb to it until he catches a reflective surface and just sees a middle aged Fig staring back at him and that crushes him with psychic damage.
That's how Gilear is the chosen one. The nightmare king would be unable to create a nightmare worse than his life and would be trapped in his unconscious mind stuck trying to terrify him and endlessly failing.
Fig’s relationship to Gilear made me feel less bad/selfish about seeking out my own character’s parents in one of my D&D campaigns when it was a very in-character thing for me to do. They aren’t funny like Gilear but know what my character loves them and they’re powerful as hell, so I’m gonna drag them along to help me save the world goddammit! Though fortunately my parents are competent 😂 an arch-druidess and a high elf headmaster of a wizarding university aren’t half bad to have around.
I love the idea of Emily being so worried about Gilear in real life, and I relate to it so hard. I don’t get to play dnd, but I do write with my friends, and I got a phone call from my best friend, in one of the few breaks between them directing their first show, assistant directing an opera, getting through college… just to talk about one of the stories because one of my characters was going through a major arc and another character in another story died (which I cried while writing because she was one of my favorites). No hello, no what’s up, just “I was thinking about (characters) and this upcoming arc, and…”
When they entered the forest of the nightmare king I truly believed gilear would walk through bumbling and tripping completely unaware his unfortunate journey was anything unusual

Gilear will try to hoping to be granted frozen yoghurt-powers only for Basrar to start crying about only being able to make icecream...
Lunch Lad to Dessert Dad.

Frozen yogurt only
The part in the chat where Emily was talking about how her dream was for Fig to bring Ayda on tour with her, and everyone started dunking on Emily for being so naive that she thought she'd inevitably end up with her first high school girlfriend forever, and Emily got legitimately upset and offended lol.
It’s the genre mismatch problem, when you think of it through the lense of a high school/coming of age story of course fig isn’t going to end up with the first person she dates
But if you recontextualise that to the epic fantasy genre of course fig ends up with the woman who leapt into (and tried to flood) the 9 hells to save her
@@jacobclements3652 I would like to take the epic fantasy genre route PLEASE
@@jacobclements3652 100% they separate at some point but come back together later. It just feels better to me if they have experiences outside of the first ever date

I've said it before, Gilear needs his own mini displayed on the board at all times
we seriously need a side story campaign for him, how and where do we pay to make that happen, i want to see him doing better at some point.
For how frequently it may happen, we also need a separate mini for when Gilear is inevitably knocked either dead or unconscious.
Galearr's nightmare would be fig dieing infront of him and you all know it.
He can make it through all this sadness that is his daily life, but just knowing his daughter is happy and safe keeps him going.
He would have nothing to live for without his daughter.
This is the saddest but most true answer
hey dawg why would you make me experience emotion
I dont think it would be Fig dying. She's an adventurer, she's going to die, and I feel like Gilear would accept that. I think it would be Fig saying that he isn't enough, an embarrassment, and her abandoning him.
@@noahwesterberg8566 No she’s never going to die
Ok, but what if, since just a normal day in his life IS his nightmare, the nightmare king would have no effect on him. Cause he lives his nightmare everyday.
THAT'S HOW HE'S THE CHOSEN ONE!
@@phantomlord77 then he tries to hit the nightmare king rolls a nat1 whiffs it falls on his face and has to make death saving throws
There's that old classic College Humor video where Brennan plays an elf coming home for Christmas and he uses the voice he would later give Gilears, and so I always felt since seeing that video that that confident character is what Gilear used to be and could still be when he eventually gets his groove back. Everybody loves an underdog story, and he's due for a win
it's crazy that the elf sketch is now considered "old classic collegehumor"

Brennan, I imagine that Galear's nightmare would be if he was granted immortality but nothing else. Still just as pathetic but now even death is rejecting him.

“Now even death is rejecting him.” This might be one of the most caustically beautiful thoughts I’ve heard expressed about the folly of immortality.
I have a feeling that there is build up to an endgame where Glear appears with a crown of yogurt and accidentally stumbles directly into the nightmare king, swapping crowns in the process and fulfilling the prophecy being the chosen one, doomed to wear the crown for eternity
You just spoiled the ending of a crown of candy omg
That implies the nightmare king wears a crown of yoghurt
@@liamross340 truly I haven't seen crown of candy but if that's the case then wow, all this quarantining is making me psychic (or just crazy)
Honestly I just picture Gilear pondering aloud after being hit by the fear spell. "How on earth did I end up back home so fast?" (Heavy sigh)
The Legend of Gilear: The NPC Living In A Hero's World
the most heartbreaking line, "we're not going to go through to senior year" *single tear*
why nott thouugghhh??? We would all love it!!!
Well, what he said was, “not that we’re going to,” suggesting that they’re keeping their options open.
Didn't rule out a high level Reunion in later seasons
I don’t think Brennan has fully considered what would happen on discord if he didn’t. We would just have to tattle and daddy (Sam) would make him. We learned that trick from Ally.
Senior year is all that's going to be left now. We will sit and hope
Figaroth Faeth will not rest until she has an entire adventuring party of dads.
She's gotta get her kisses in.
@@nobody5333Fantasy High Spinoff but it’s just Fig’s dads
Okay but the Nightmare Forest is all about giving in to your fear and Gilear is the king of being resigned to his terrible life and just continuing to live in whatever hellscape he’s put into-I think he would have gotten to the center of the forest IMMEDIATELY because he wouldn’t even bother running away from his nightmares. He would have just been like “well, I guess this is my life now, not much worse than it was before”
After all the shit he went through in Sophomore Year, I refuse to believe Gilear hasn't earned at LEAST Level 2.
Unfortunately he's taking levels in commoner, with no class buffs
When they were looking at the 7 sins armour in hell, Emily was considering putting Gilear in the Gimp suit of Lust, but I was like no no no, Gilead needs to be put in the Pride armour because it is truly the most antithetical to his nature and I think it would be good for him to have some magical bolstered dignity.
That's all I really want for Gilear, I don't need him to be the chosen one, but if he could be allowed to have just an ounce of dignity I'd be so pleased for him
Breezey357 so you’re a Divination Wizard right?
He'd make it become the armor of self respect, changing the magic from his own depression.
It’s canon in my soul that Gilear would be unaffected in the nightmare forest because he is already living it.
This man has hit rock bottom and has been living there ever since
Gilear needs to get his diplomatic status back. Maybe he replaces the Abernants as ambassadors. And the diplomatic immunity gives so much potential.
Gilear is basically the magikarp of this campaign.
Gilear became the group mascot and parent. Like the kids really end up loving him. He went and slaughtered a hoard of demons for them, went through so many deaths for Fig’s sake. I adore Gilear every time he wins and improves I cheer for him. I want him to be happier
"not that we're going to" -- junior year just announced 👀
Let’s hope that for The Crown of Candy Brian will still not have a character over 5 feet tall.

@@dimension20show Update: Murph is in fact, very tall. The curse has been broken.
@@AMadMage and yet, EMOTIONALLY...
Gilear is best dad and no one can convince me otherwise 😂
I think his nightmare would have to be something like failing so hard, he gets Fig killed. Or she just gets fed up with him and leaves. Fig is the constant good in his life, though. He’s not the worst off if he has her still
I love that it keeps giving close-ups of Emily laughing because she truly does love all things Gilear related.
BECAUSE HE IS THE CHOSEN ONE
I just wanna say: I can not be convinced Gilear ISN'T the CEO of the Breaking News News Station. Listen to the voices. Pay attention to those kinks. It's very clearly Gilear.
We are getting FH Junior year sooo that means we get more Gilear... hell ya dude.
I agree! I think his nightmare is Fig gives up on him. If he didn’t care for her, he wouldn’t have gone on the adventure
I have an uncle that exudes true Gilear energy. Thank you for giving my uncle the adventure he never wanted!
Alslfj
Gilear, obviously the strongest and most important character of the party!
One of those things is true.
The chosen one
Spoilers for Junior Year:
It suddenly makes sense why Brennan sent Gilear off on his honeymoon for most of the season, simply to give his character some time to cool off
This was my favorite part of listening to the fireside chat. It's strange how I'm so invested in just some random dude. They never got Gilear armor either. Looking forward to what he does at the end of this season of fantasy high.
Gilear: I'm not the messiah!
The bad kids: HE IS THE MESSIAH!!
knowing that this is what emily thought about gilear before the finale i can only imagine the sheer euphoria she must have felt during That Scene
That's not cruelty, that's just spitting straight facts y'all,
(Edit: guess who edited to grammar check but didn't recognize that he somehow completely messed up one of his favorite performers names?...this guy!)
How is this edited and you still got the completely wrong name for Ally

Gonna be 100, I side with Zac on this one. If the entire group can survive an 100 ft drop with no physical harm, I'm not thinking I'm not enough I'm thinking my group is full of superheroes and I need a nap.
"If we do end up taking fantasy high to senior year, which is probably not going to happen." Oh well well well, look who's funny now.
You guys should DEFINITELY go until senior year
I've almost fallen out of my seat multiple times when Gilear was around.
4:04 "if we were - not that we're going to - but if we were to go all the way to senior year..." oh man, that is highly ironic
Wait.... why the hell _wouldn't_ you go on all the way through Senior year?!!!!
Emily's sincere love for Gilear will never stop being hilarious and sweet at once
I hope when they get to the nightmare king the nightmare king just removes his cloak to reveal gilear as the nightmare king
i kind of wish that happened because in episode 1 of freshman year she says “is my dad the nightmare king? he’s the nightmare king!”
"Leaving him was like saying 'You're not enough'."
"HE'S NOT ENOUGH!"
my head cannon would be that his nightmare was actually a really wholesome reality where things are going his way, he feels loved, is successful, and feels fulfilled. And then he woke up. The real nightmare is that he will never be free of his torment
"Not that we're going to?!?!" Dude, I hope you guys do the show through their college years. Fantasy U, anyone?
Okay but y’all hear me out, gilear’s nightmare would probably be Fig when she first found out about being a tiefling and the idea of her going back to resenting him
My favorite Gilear moment was Fabian's "GILEAR LAUNCH ME"
I'm sure somebody has said it, and it's too late since Jr Year is about to start, but it'd be funny if all the revivifies had given Gillear powers - like Janet/Derrick from The Good Place. He's been rebooted so many times that he's got some levels in something
I think Gilear is only The Chosen One *because* the party has chosen him
Well. I'm at season 3 now, and I can only guess Gilear season 4 be like: "Oh no, I appear to have become the main character. Tragic"
7:30 or, maybe since real life is his nightmare, he just walks straight to the center un affected, and defeats Kalina by himself because his life is already so hell that this ain't shit. Make him literally the chosen one
Siobhán: "We gotta get him back into therapy, get his self esteem back up."
Brennan: *completely ignores it, looking for the next question (because he knows it will never happen)
Emily: *vicious staring*
I loved how he was able to wear the Pride armor though. Sometimes, the greatest strength is to know your weaknesses and his was having no pride.
It's crazy seeing this pop into my recommended feed and watching this back knowing the "I HAVE NO PRIDE" Moment was going to happen in later episodes is kinda WILD.
The trick is that Gilear would have been fully immune to the nightmare forest because his life is a nightmare
Can’t wait for junior year gilear
No hello, no what’s up, just “I was thinking about (characters) and this upcoming arc, and…”
I'm watching season 2 right now and Gilear is my favorite!
When they entered the forest of the nightmare king I truly believed gilear would walk through bumbling and tripping completely unaware his unfortunate journey was anything unusual
I recently finished the first season of Fantasy High and I just want to say that I love Gilear and really want him to be happy.
I believe that Gilear is the chosen one
Gilear is possessed by the Night Yorb.
I love that even in the The Seven offshoot, Gilear was lame. The maidens knew exactly what was up.
Finally the important questions
Emily already plotting when Siobhan suggests therapy 😂
(*wistfully* "yeah"...)
fantasy high, senior year: gilear goes to therapy!
This makes me want a Gilear villain arc
PLEASE!! Please go to senior year. I would watch it all.
