Hi James .The full skim is the final coat and gives a very hard wearing long lasting finish .if you were to sit in a room that had a full skim as opposed to just the taping and jointing compound finish once there painted up it would be hard to tell what system was used but in the days when wall papering was the norm over here the full skim stood up way better when it came time to remove the old paper in preparation for new. It's pretty much the same way in the uk there big into the full skim coats .
Excellent work James .just for information The tradition in Ireland would be a full skim coat finish over the entire plaster boarded walls and ceilings .
+Chris Ghanivand Thanks Chris! Yeah I need to pull my finger out and get into the final edits.. Watch this space, more coming soon :) Take it easy mate.
+Our Build Sweet! Cant wait. Whenever i see a 1 storey house in amongst 2 + storey terracesi always envision what you have done with your home. Great stuff. I'm just on the tail end now of my home attic reno as my roof space was massive and ive almost completed the bathroom up there. Come out awesome. Im based in Sydney, would be great to work with you. even on Saturdays if you ever need an extra man. let me know. Cheers mate Chris
Yeah that's exactly why we purchased the place, thought council would have a had time knocking it back in between the other two terraces. Yours sounds like a nice project Chris, you should have filmed it :) Thanks for the offer, I might just take you up on that one day, Take care mate.
here we always put ceilings up first then put the top run in against the ceiling. then put the bottom run in to leave the gap at the bottom next to the floor so there is no cutting. your place was different I know. just telling you how we do it in standard 8ft 9ft 10ft ceilings. great video mate. great work too.
G Day James and Happy Australia Day albeit a bit late,GREAT sheetrock or you bloody aussies refer to it as gyprock video I found it very interesting as to the way you chippies downunder hang gyprock as the way you use a "walnut " size dab of adhesive here in the USA we dont do that we just put screws all over the place, any way another great video by you and your crew, when do you reckon the one on stairbuilding will be on?? Be Well,Nick
+Nick Nichols , Thanks Nick! Id say the stair installation video will be up towards the end of next month. The renovation videos take a bit of time to get through. Take care mate.
+roman Thanks Roman, it creates a shadow line in the corner of the ceiling. It's more of a modern architectural detail that replaces having a cornice or crown molding.
+Zach Miller , Hey Zach! The green ones are what we call H2 treated pine, they just give a little extra resistance to termites. You don't really need them on internal walls (some people do in areas with active termites) but I had some spare from another project, so used them up. The H3 treated is the stuff we use for most external work.
Our Build yea I noticed in the miter saw or drop saw as you call it I believe, video review of the Bosch that you were using them there too. I don't know if this made any since?
+Zach Miller It's pretty common now for a lot of the H2 to be used internally, I only use it when required, but some builders are just factoring it into most projects now.
That shadow line will look very nice when finished off!
+Ben Burgs , Cheers Benny, yeah it looks pretty sharp. Hows your en suite coming along?
+Our Build Slowing down. waiting for custom screen so fit off will have to wait.
Another great video James
+Logan P Cheers Logan!

+roman Thanks Roman, it creates a shadow line in the corner of the ceiling. It's more of a modern architectural detail that replaces having a cornice or crown molding.
+Our Build nice. I have not seen this before.

why are your studs green? only pressure treated lumber is green here in the US.

Our Build oh ok. We really don't have any termites in north Carolina mountains.
