What's the best coastal town in Kenya?
We headed to Diani to find out!
ALS have just started a new flight from Vipingo to Diani so we jumped at the chance to finally see what all the fuss is about and headed to Diani for a family weekend.
This trip was full of amazing food (Ali Barbour's cave, Salty Squid and more) beautiful scenery, a stunning villa and the company of our good friends!

The cave....great ambiance but the meal was so so for myself. The owner could see I was having a tough time cutting the meat. He was kind of enough to waive my portion of the meal from the bill..extra points for that! Everyone else at my table enjoyed theirs.
It's great when they at least recognise that they made an error with the food. It's rare in Kenya 🤣

I visited a restaurant in Mombasa called Youlls if I’m not wrong,the place iz really simple the do ice cream n food n always full. Was amazed when the owner told me he closes the place for like 5 months 😮 n go for holidays

Lol Adam you didn’t exhaust Diani yet! There is a lot to do out there but you might need a babysitter for Malia! I am Diani through and through . I found Watamu very seasonal and somehow blaaaa and I lived in Kilifi. I rarely went up to watamu because of that blaaa . I think you would like being far out in Chale or Shimoni or Funzi Keys you would love it. I remember last year I tried convincing you to come out but your stand was it’s one coastal town like the other 😜. Glad you guys gave it a shot!

Watamu is cool, but much less places to go
They are 400,000 Kenyans living in da USA,100,000 in Uk n all need ur recommendations to visit places,so its a no brainer to have a boutique service from u guys

I think Diani is colder and wetter than most of coast because of its proximity to Shimba hills.
We did get ice cream in the end 🙂

Yes they have recently started scheduled flights. I think before it was private charter only
Great video!., please, i like to ask you about bringing euros or better withdraw from ATM machines and also any suggestion about tel. sim card ( better company)., my wife and i we are going in about 10 days for couple of weeks splitting our time in Lamu and Diani beach.Thanks.Best regards.Marcelo
ATM is fine if your bank doesn't charge you extra (check with them)
We tend to recommend people to bring a little cash with them for tips and small businesses, but most restaurants and bars, etc. will take card payments in Lamu and Diani
Regarding SIM card, there is a Safaricom shop right outside the airport and they are open late. Stop and get a sim card there. You can also ask for them to add "mpesa" so you can make mobile payments (everyone takes mpesa) so it saves you carrying cash around.

90 minutes drive from Watamu to Vipingo?? 😧
When in Kenya, I move between Mtwapa, north of Mombasa, and Malindi, north of Watamu..... in about 90 minutes. -Without driving crazy (though not during the recent roadworks)

Yeah but "not driving crazy" is probably still faster than we drive.
That road is so dangerous and we don't take any risks when Malia is in the car. Slow and steady stays alive 😊

can someone explain to me why the water is too cold for the kid ? makes no sense when the place is soo close to the equator ?
it should be fairly warm all year round. maybe there is something i dont understand
It's the Indian ocean which is very deep. So even when the weather is hot, the water doesn't get super warm. During rainy season the land temperature drops quite a bit and the water feels pretty cold
@@WhereNextFamily ok never tought about that i was looking at stat for water temp says its on avg is around 23 Celsius (73F ) but i have heard this rumor before didnt think it was true but gues it is
