Dave.... Your videos are all wonderful ! But every once in a while, you take us (the viewers) places where we could not otherwise ever go or experience ! This is one of those videos ! On board your tamper was another one that comes to mind ! Thank you Dave ! We appreciate your efforts !!!
I love seeing the EMD gauge showing “La Grange, IL” that’s where I live now. The EMD factory was actually in McCook but the mailing address was LaGrange.
Never really ceases to amaze me: Panning out along the side and things always "feel like" they're faster than they are. in this instance, 21-ish m.p.h.? Really? "Looks like" it's more than 35...
Trust me, even 15 mph is fast when you are a few feet above the ground. Hang on tight because even at that speed I would not want to meet mother earth or any infrastructure.
With the huge following you have, i am surprised you dont have well over 100,000 subscribers! My upper GI today went well, only very minor stuff was found, but they detected small metal particles in my right knee from when i fell on a coal cinder way back in 1958. To me, thats definitely a "go figure".
Cool Ride along in what I'd call a DPU? BTW: Are those tracks under the bridge also IRON Synergy trackage, or are those other railroads IRON Synergy just happens to cross over on those bridges? If they aren't IRON Synergy tracks below the bridges, which railroads do they belong to? Would be cool to see one train going over the bridge, while another would pass by on the lower tracks under the bridge.
riding in the helper has to be nice! just sit back and enjoy the ride! it has to be neat to see the settings that the engineers drive the engine! perfect view of what the engineer sees, great job, have a great day dave! be safe out there!
Will Santa get to ride on the front end of a Christmas train? Maybe some of those antlers people roll up in their side windows put on the cab windows? Tis the season. Loved the ride in the rain.
Dave you made great video didn't know that you were taking Fred's place for the day but it was fun thanks my friend I would have enjoyed it too always fun to be in the cab🎉
Hey Dave, I used to live in LaGrange IL right by the Electromotive Plant. Now I’m in Chattanooga TN by the Railroad Museum. I volunteer there. Enjoy watching your videos…
Thank you, thank you, thanks you... If I could give this a triple like, I would!! I love videos like this that gives us "civilians" an insider look. So, when zero power is indicated, does that mean the train is just coasting along under it own momentum?
Another great ride, Dave. Southern Pacific was well known in their day for having a good number of manned-helper districts, and it has always been a fascinating aspect of railroading for me. I know this arrangement is more similar to a DPU operation vs. an engineer in the helper actually working the throttle, but the view and the sensations are similar. I always wanted to ride along with the SP helper crews to experience their part of moving the heavy tonnage over the "Hill". So, you might be able to answer a question that I have wondered many times. The ammeter here was showing 600-amps for a good while. Does that equate to 600-amps per traction motor, or 600-amps total being fed to all 6 traction motors? I've never been 100% clear about that. My suspicion is 600 per motor. Thanks, buddy! 🤠👍
I have a question about notch numbers... Does each notch control just the amount of Amps generated (like notch 1 is say 100 amps, notch 2, 200, notch 3, 300 amps etc)? And then within each Notch number (say notch 5), is there a separate speed pedal to fine tune how many MPH you wish to travel at? Thanks. Learning as just a curious bystander who enjoys watching your channel.
With a locomotive on the head of the train and a locomotive at the rear, at what point along the train will there be slack while running? I am guessing this changes with the grade changing up and down. Is there special consideration the engineer has to give to this? Thanks Dave, I enjoy your videos.
Dave, another wonderful video. As an aside question, what would happen if there was a coupler break mid-train? I know that the lead engine is pulling and the trailing engine is pushing but I would assume there would be a gap produced to have the brake lines separate, would the train go directly into emergency brake? I'm just wondering how the trailing engine would function in that event.
Hey Dave !! This video must have gotten lost in the archives & you pulled it out as wasn't shown ?? Thanks for the ride & did the doors get fixed on the cars that dumped on the rails ?? 👍👍👍👍👍
"If ya ain't the lead dog ~ the view don't change"
That was a neat trip. Thanks Dave

nice engineers view from the helper engine on a real train. COAL RULES!!!!!!!
Thanks for taking is along
Not sure I could get used to driving “blind” like that with no idea what’s in front of the train. Cool video, though.

Fantastic cab POV, thanks for taking us along.
That was a really cool ride! Thanks, Dave.

Thank you for continuing to share your passion.
Cool ride Dave.. That's a perspective of train ops that few get to enjoy! Thanks..
That locomotive is workin son
Approximately 8,740,000 pounds of coal being moved from the mine, to the harbor.
Keeping the lights on.
Cool Ride along in what I'd call a DPU?

Nice ride Dave! Love it when those rails are singing 🙂
I love the locomotive rides. Thanks for bringing us along.
Thank you sir! Love this stuff!
That was so cool Dave, I recognized a lot of those places on the railroad, from our ride along in your hyrail! (Dave).
Dave you are too much fun it’s like you are riding the train at Kennywood. Love the video and be safe
Good morning Dave. Great ride along. Have a great day.
Howdy!
Will Santa get to ride on the front end of a Christmas train? Maybe some of those antlers people roll up in their side windows put on the cab windows? Tis the season. Loved the ride in the rain.

Hi Dave & it's is Randy and i like yours video is Cool & Thanks Dave & Friends Randy
Great trip !! Thank Dave. James.
I've never been in a 38-2. But I've been at the throttle of some 40-2s. They're my favorite.
That was fun.
Always enjoy a cab ride! 7500 tons is impressive! That's like pushing a WW2 destroyer around plus a submarine!
Hi Dave, another great video. 👍👍👍🚂🚂
Dave, I always enjoy your videos! 😊❤👍
No. 22 seems to load up nice. That needle was steady.
Thank you for the ride....
Sure do miss the days of running an engine in run 8
Awesomeness for sure Dave. Enjoyed the video and have a great rest of your day.(Steve)
Nice ride on your rail.thanks Dave& maint., -of- way, guy,😸
Thanks for the ride. Great simulator. It feels like.

It’s like being a kid and getting paid for it
Good video, as usual!
Love it, great ride! Is someone required to be present in remote-controlled locomotives?
Great to ride inside the train thankyou
Hey Dave, I used to live in LaGrange IL right by the Electromotive Plant. Now I’m in Chattanooga TN by the Railroad Museum. I volunteer there. Enjoy watching your videos…
Nice ride along Dave ... Thx
My first time riding in a train ,thank you😊
Brilliant sound. That took me back to the day I was lucky to get a cab ride on a loco hauling a heavy train of steel. Sure taking a lot of amps there.
this was cool
All aboard!! Thanks! 😊
What part of Pennsylvania do you post from!!?? Great train videos !!!
Thank you, thank you, thanks you... If I could give this a triple like, I would!! I love videos like this that gives us "civilians" an insider look. So, when zero power is indicated, does that mean the train is just coasting along under it own momentum?
Nice view out of the windows in that part of the country.
enjoyed the ride
Good video davies
Any snow yet Dave?

Nothing like notch 8 to make you feel the locomotive working. A lot of amps and a lot of noise from the engine :)
Stay dry! It’s looking wet outside! Full load going out of the mine.

Awesome!
600amp at how many volts?
From Sept 2021? Let me guess, you dropped your phone out the window of #22 while making the video and just found it.
And the phone battery was 98%😂 and 2476 in-SMS😅
Are the end of train units usually manned, or are they completely supervised by the lead unit? Another great video, thanks
Dave, another wonderful video. As an aside question, what would happen if there was a coupler break mid-train? I know that the lead engine is pulling and the trailing engine is pushing but I would assume there would be a gap produced to have the brake lines separate, would the train go directly into emergency brake? Dave do really like riding in the cabs of the engine?
Beats being outside in the cold rain...
Hey Dave !! This video must have gotten lost in the archives & you pulled it out as wasn't shown ?? Thanks for the ride & did the doors get fixed on the cars that dumped on the rails ?? 👍👍👍👍👍
How much a diesel fuel used the loco #22 in empty and coal rides?
Hi Dave, do you have any interest in operating the locomotive at work?
Nexy year , grow a beard and be santa for the kiddies
Does the lead locomotive know if the locomotive in the back has wheel slip and can throw sand ?
