When I read your comment Paul shot a shot at the chrono which clocked in at 1313 fps. My only question for you is did the Black Death suck as bad at the history books say it did? Or was it all hype and Karens like our current "pandemic?"
I love how Paul paints a more complex picture of weapons he's reviewing. It isn't just "this gun does this and it's impressive/not impressive" he really makes you understand why it is impressive or not by comparing the details to other weapons that if not the same are about as close as you can get.
I've likely said it before, but he's the Bob Ross of firearms reviews. I keep expecting to hear "happy little shot group". And " if your's is larger that's OK. Just practice more." Not insulting, I mean to complement. I learn a lot from his videos.
This is the best fk brno presentation yet. Seriously he just about covered it all. Most people dont test body armor at range AND i was wondering how well bullets make it through something BIG. You use the wrong calibur you might give a bear a nasty flesh wound and make him super angry with you.

Paul, I have watched a boatload of your stuff and have learned a tremendous amount. I don't always agree but when I don't, I always learn something. The one thing that keeps me coming back for more is your integrity and honesty. IF you make a mistake, you quickly acknowledge it. When you see the kettle is black, you call it black and if someone tries to tell you the copper pot is black you call b.s. and I for one appreciate the heck out of that. Keep up the good stuff you are doing and know that there is at least one poor shmo here that is learning.
For wilderness guides, armored car drivers, and rear echelon military troops (truck drivers, etc) the trade offs seem worth it. Much easier to carry one of these than a .45-70 for bear or an AR for human adversaries. And while the smaller 5.7mm was also designed to face armor, I'm not even sure 5.7mm would do the same amount of damage to an unarmored adversary at 100 yards. They should print "Loaded for bear" on the ammo!
Well, some might call it "bear killer", but, as being able to penetrate A3 and being freely available to the public, this gun screames "cop killer". Bet every professional criminal woves to get one.
Hey Paul, long time viewer, first time commenter. I know there was probably a moral dilemma on your part whether or not to do a review like this with the potential ethical pitfalls. I just want to tell you that the quality and professionalism to your test far exceeds and puts to shame any of the normal gun tubers out there. I fully believe that if FK had sent you a lemon you would have tossed it on top of a piece of fish and called it a lemon. I hope this is the first of many manufacturer provided gun reviews. I value your expertise and judgement. Thank you for all you do.
I purchased one a year ago and I'm in love with it. I recommend via email they send you a review pistol. I'm glad they followed through! Edit: I got the all steel version that only has the 7.5 barrel, it was neat to see how the 10 and 9mm performed.
I find it EXTREMELY hard to believe that there's people on this planet who will watch one of Paul's videos and not only doubt the numbers but then actually challenge him on the math. Truly monsters walk amongst us
I love that Paul's channel is notorious enough to get sent weapons for review, even if his subscriber total isn't as high as those channels who shoot random stuff for each video.
As someone who has been interested in this cool brick of a pistol, ive been waiting for a solid review that isnt just a 20 minute puff piece. Thank you for the full hour! This is the kind of truly in-depth informative content that needs to be more popular. Cheers!
Yup! IIRC the design brief was basically "an M1 Carbine in a holster" for personal security types in the Middle East that for contractual reasons couldn't carry a carbine.
By design. The FK Field pistol from which this is derived was intended to give security personnel a weapon that could engage armored opponents out to 100M or more and be able to be carried concealed like a handgun. I think the 7.5FK cartridge has a lot of potential for handguns and PCCs (pistol caliber carbines) and could really make the PDW concept a very viable alternate to a full size rifle or a short barreled rifle.
This is EASILY the best FK BRNO review on yt by far. "yeah but" So is EVERY review from Paul imho. Like the FK ammo, this video met and exceeded expectations, and for that, thank you PH.

I've been watching reviews of the FK Brno in 7.5 for about 2 years. They shot everything from body armor with ceramic plates , clay blocks , soda jugs, blocks of wood , steel targets. This all being very impressive , but it was all at close range. After watching those I was still a believer of the 357 mag or 44 mag with the right ammo, just as good for anything I'm going to face. Paul went a lot farther in his presentation by putting the ammo , pistol in a perspective that is in a real world. Not one of the other did any presentation shot at a 100 meters/ yards just to show the true power of this cartridge. As for me if there was a black bear at a 100 yards away I plan on keeping that buffer .but that's just me
The only other person that I saw shoot the 7.5fk out to 100 yards at 3A body armor was Iraqveteran8888, and in that video, the 101 grain also went right through the armor. Even though I likely have a better chance of winning the lottery than having to use a 7.5fk in a scenario where I'm shooting at threats 100 yards away wearing 3A......you feel an unusual sense of security knowing that you can carry around that capability. @@parissmith5727 I mean there’s always kind of a practical angle on Paul’s channel. There’s really nothing in HK’s catalog that isn’t outperformed by an AR or PCC. Even if you can afford it and/or if they even sell it commercially. Like a MK 23 pistol or 416 would be sweet, but you can’t really get one, and a stock SP5 is going to need another $500 and a tax stamp before it resembles a real MP5. @@Matt-xc6sp I mean, there are arguments made that the less mechanical components a locking mechanism has, the better, but I think there's a pretty good reason the MP5 hasn't left the HK catalog for 60 years and counting.
@@yocapo32 That reason is nostalgia. Mp5 doesn’t drop free mag, doesn’t lend itself as well to optics or flashlights, isn’t ambi, doesn’t have a free float barrel, can’t load a full mag with the bolt closed, and just isn’t as relevant in a world that has perfected short ARs. @@arnox4554 I think this is a great service handgun for anyone who carries openly. Long range, anti body armor capable, probably barricate defeating too. Supposedly they made this gun to help PMC fighters in middle east do public bodyguarding, when they would get engaged and couldn't carry rifles and people shot at them form 100 meters and such and they couldn´t properly retaliate with 9x19.
Am I the only one who feels like I should be billed for the amount of knowledge that is in this video. Thank you Paul! Best 7.5fk presentation hands down.
That was a very thorough going over. The BRNO's made a lot of rounds through the TH-cam gun channels and garnered quite positive reviews. But one never knows how much of that is genuine. I consider Paul's judgement the decider. It sounds like a great pistol. It is not the pistol for me, as I don't have any bears in my area and nobody in body armor that needs shooting.
I thought it may also be a very niche pistol, and for all it's features, they're not all that innovative. Still, it is a very cool looking pistol, something very Blade Runner/Robocop about its aesthetic.
How many people in general do you come across who "need shooting". I see it as a rather have and not need situation. The odds that you need a gun are low, the odds of being an armored target are lower. I'd still rather have the best tool for the most jobs. Though it's out of my price range.
Paul for the record I would watch you do an out-of-the-box review on any gun ever. I absolutely love the idea of long format videos and I love the idea of seeing you take the first shots and following you along your journey to evaluate a firearm
Like a lot of people here, I’ve been binge re-watching Paul’s entire catalog following his untimely death. And I just noticed that the meat target in the stadium chair has a drink cup in the cup holder!
Excellent review! One comment on the factory sight setting: In Europe it is very common to set the point of aim lower to accomodate for the standard sporting pistol target which has a white background and a black center. Ideally, you can aim at the lower edge of the black center, giving you a center hit into the black target zone. This helps you consistently to find your point of aim.

@@peasanttoking6839 Actually Tanfoglio helped designing the gun. Massimo Tanfoglio sits in FK's board and several parts of the pistol come straight from Tanfoglio production.
@@peaceoutbruh7085 Tanfoglio ceased to make "copies" DECADES ago. Tanfoglio cloned the original CZ75 in the early '80s with the TZ75, already introducing some innovation in the design (a decocker) and started independently evolving the design from there, introducing advancements in it generally before CZ did (firing pin block, multicaliber options, dedicated race guns, polymer frame "75"... all introduced before the CZ "versions"). Recently they introduced the first striker-fired "75", the Tanfoglio Force Esse (since the CZ P10 is not a "75" design, is the umptheen Glock copy).

Paul, I’ve watched all of your videos for several years, and love your dry-but-sly humor. Your depth of experience lends great credibility to your educational videos and gun reviews. Thank you for sharing! Your devised “meat target” is brilliant and seems more realistic than the usual ballistic gel tests (employed by uncreative gun channels). Though I’ve watched every one of your videos I could, I sometimes wish they were a bit shorter. A 35 or 45-minute video is easier to watch than devoting one hour (though the payoff is commensurate). Thanks again!
Great vid, as usual. Never heard of a 7.5 "bruno" till now. Those chronograph tests are very interesting and convincing. Interesting that the BRNO uses a CZ-type disassembly. I like that 10MM barrel subbing, too. Thanks for posting.
@@timc46440 There's no "burring" in bright. It's just "BR-NO", with a short "O", if you know what I mean. Fantastic review Paul. Sounds like the FK BRNO is a “one size fits all” type of setup, where a person gets a hunting, plinking, personal defense pistol all in one pistol. 7.5 FK for hunting, 10mm for personal defense and 9mm for plinking as a cheaper cartridge. It looks heavy, but it appears as a relatively standard size duty pistol. Very interesting.
Seems quite large and heavy, he said 38 ounces, for carry. And the 9mm wouldn't be too great for training, since it would change the point of impact and especially the recoil characteristics. Still an interesting and powerful pistol for hunting and such.
@@sinisterthoughts2896 not really too heavy as a duty pistol, as a Colt Govt. .45 ACP is 35 oz and the Beretta 92X performance i believe is 47oz. Edit to get the weights correct per manu. Info.
@@hanuman3527 The heck? A pound heavier than the 92f? Is it steel instead of the normal alloy? A long slide steel version might make a good competition pistol but it doesn't sound like something that goes in a carry rig.

Extremely impressive for a handgun to be making hits like that at 100 yards without a MAJOR holdover, especially with pistol sight radius. That's a very interesting round.
When you engaged the safety with your thumb in the beginning, I thought you had pulled the trigger for some reason at the same time, but rewatching shows otherwise. If you were wondering, the issue where you cannot curl your thumb without curling your pointer is called 'Linburg-Comstock variation' which causes a piece of connective tissue to form erroneously between the tendons for those two fingers. I could never figure out why I had that issue myself, so with the help of Google I managed to figure it out. Hope it answers a question you may have had in the past about yourself, and have a good day.

Great review! Keep in mind this pistol/caliber was developed for Contractors working overseas inside vehicles and in places where carrying a rifle was a no go. It was developed to have the same ballistic effect as an AK pistol to 100 meters. Of course, we wanted that here! We will (most likely) never use it in those types of conditions...But...I would certainly use it as a protection firearm (that I could conceal under a jacket) in the back country or if they every do away with pistol braces, it could be my new truck gun. Really neat video. lastly, "Man that projectile is moving and is a wrecking ball". I like it. I am curious to see what the mechanics feel like on this unit, as per the recoil. As shown, this is a fast moving and pretty heavy projectile, and the website shows a C.G. diagram, and its design to mitigate said recoil? They have another pistol that I actually like the look of also. I like the hand grip flush mounting machined in fitment. I wonder if this would be allowed in a 2/3 gun competition, as per the caliber? Maybe they would frown upon the steel targets getting damaged? either way, I like the look of both units. one is old school bodied, the other is a more tactical unit. .I neeeeeeeeed both of them...lol
Velocity tests of the BRNO had me surprised, and at that weight holy cow! Thanks for the attention to detail gun review sir. I think this has left me wanting a BRNO just as much as I want a Desert Eagle!
I would love to see a trajectory analysis of the 7.5. I've seen some pretty impressive ballistic charts for this calibre but it would be wonderful to watch Paul do a video on the trajectory of this necked cartridge; demonstrating the rise and fall from 50, 100, 150, throught until maybe even 400m.
They claim this round can reach all the way to 500 yards. I actually believe it considering Jerry Miculek managed to hit a target 1000 yards away with a 44 magnum revolver and a 9 mm handgun! And both of those rounds are less powerful than 7.5fk.
@@f3nixfire yeah, I'm surprised one of the firearms ballistics bloggers hasn't done a more in-depth analysis of the extended range of the 7.5. As cool as Mikulck's accomplishments are at a thousand yards I bet yeah he's holding like 3 ft over with the .44 and 5 ft over with the 9. I would also imagine that the foot-pounds at that distance are pretty low. The 7.5 is piercing level 3 armor at 300 m and the trajectory is not completely gonzo so you'd have to imagine that at 400m the ballistics are still acceptable for practical use which makes it surprising that no one's done a video on it yet. Paul should do one, he's probably my favorite gun blogger.
Very thorough and excellent video coverage of this pistol!
By design. The FK Field pistol from which this is derived was intended to give security personnel a weapon that could engage armored opponents out to 100M or more and be able to be carried concealed like a handgun.

Lol
On the FK website they have a video of taking a deer at over 100 yards.

It's fun to shoot wild pigs with as well, but that's also area dependent.
I thought it may also be a very niche pistol, and for all it's features, they're not all that innovative.
Still, it is a very cool looking pistol, something very Blade Runner/Robocop about its aesthetic.
the decade is still very young my friend.
How many people in general do you come across who "need shooting". I see it as a rather have and not need situation. The odds that you need a gun are low, the odds of being an armored target are lower. I'd still rather have the best tool for the most jobs.

And can't find their proprietary ammo. That's why they make a 10mm barrel to go with it. As a 10mm pistol it looks amazing.

Info.
@@hanuman3527
The heck? A pound heavier than the 92f? Is it steel instead of the normal alloy? A long slide steel version might make a good competition pistol but it doesn't sound like something that goes in a carry rig.
@@CtrlAltRetreat Piece of cake !!! 30 yrs ago I carried a stainless Auto Mag in a Lee Juris shoulder holster !!!
Make it in a DA/SA 10+ round compact with an alloy frame and better sights. Mass produce ammo so I can get it for $1 a round max. Then I'll be interested.
As always, fantastic review Paul. Love how articulate and thorough your tests are.
Extremely impressive for a handgun to be making hits like that at 100 yards without a MAJOR holdover, especially with pistol sight radius. That's a very interesting round.
On top of the fact its defeating 3A body armor
Exactly what I was thinking! Very impressive to say the least.
There's a point at which it's just a pistol shaped Carbine
@@1stCallipostle ... That is the whole point of manufacturing a handgun like this. (ounces equal pain).
I hope more manufacturers take notes on this and maybe we can start to get crazy velocity pistols more often
The guy who contacted you, Elvis, he works at my local range and he's the one who taught my CCW class, actually did a 4 hour course and went through different laws and scenarios, very good course, way better than the bare minimum 45 minute courses most people do. Very cool guy and it's fantastic that someone is developing something new rather than another glock/AR clone.
Just my thoughts.
I love these reviews - I wish I could have Paul test out other things, like cars and presidential candidates.
Let’s see how our candidate holds to the lobbyist target.
@@danielbell4007 hi today I am at the range testing out our new presidential candidate target against the 7.5 FK fired out of this FK BRNO PSD. Please bear with gunfire on the range.
"Nose discarding hollow point" wow ive heard of fin discarding sabot but not that lol
That's a concept that's been a thing for a long time. That's how armor piercing shells from battleships worked, they discarded the nose cone.
Great video! Good information, as usual.
@@semajniffirg230 The nose cone in artillery/tank guns is only for aerodynamic purposes.
@@alvaroasi
Ballistic tip rounds are super popular for hunting rounds too, especially in tube mags. Check out the lever revolution series of ammo from Hornady, same reasoning and specifically made to not give you tube issues from primer on tip. Good stuff.
@@alvaroasi same concept on the FK BRNO hollow points the nose is for aerodynamic reasons and to delay expansion slightly
Just an FYI, Brno is just the name of the city in Czechia where the company is based. So it would be pronounced as a single word, not an abbreviation.
they just capitalized it for funny czechy reasons
Sounds like "Burn-Oh" right?
@@ScottKenny1978 I believe the Czech pronunciation "br" is like "bur" or "brr"(like it's cold outside) and "no" is the same in English but the "n" is paired with the "o" to form a syllable separate from the "Br" part, but I think you got it close enough.
@@ScottKenny1978 It is pronounced without "U". Czech pronunciation is kinda difficult for English speakers. Try asking Google Translate to pronounce it for you. It's machine voice, not perfect but close enough. (I got your joke BTW)
@@inflex4456 at least in American English, the u in burn is almost nonexistent. Burn and Brrr are almost identical in sound.
That is a fantastic presentation. So much knowledge acquired not only on the BRNO but on pistol power as a whole. Thank You!
This is one of the best Paul Harrell vids I’ve ever seen! You really put a lot of heart and soul into this one. Can’t believe I missed it last year.
WOW!!!. This was an expensive video.. LOL.. HOLY COW... Thank you. I learned allot on this. Thank you. I really enjoyed this video. I see that the website offers their projectiles in spun copper/brass alloy in the flat nose and a hollow point. They do offer a lead core/copper jacketed hollow point as well. It appears, that at the time stamp @44:28 the collected projectiles being showcased are the spun copper/brass alloy flat nose units.
@@gavinclark790 would be cool to see, but I don't think I'll be shooting anything with mine past 100 meters lol
Do you have a BRNO or maybe Ruger? There are several cool options out there now for the 7.5.
You should do a video, maybe you'll be the next big gun blogger.
Never heard of this one. Looks like a gem dandy for bear defense. Thank you Paul.
I really miss him. 😔
Very thorough and excellent video coverage of this pistol! The only thing I might have added would be if someone were facing an adversary in or behind a vehicle or other barrier... and I might have offered that the gun and ammunition were a LOT more expensive than the other options discussed in this video. Again, thanks for your usual top level presentation!
That's a lot of damage? Sounds like a job for the flex seal family of products.
"Hey Google, can I use Flex Seal as a chest seal?"
🤔
