    Dude move the TV to the corner next to the shelf, move your bed to the loft above, and buy a comfy sofa or chair and then get a coffee table. Store the consoles in a box under the coffee table. You can make much better use of space.

      you also have to realize salaries in japan are also a lot lower.

    • @dragonofparadise
      @dragonofparadise 4 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      I know right, Mr walker: the salaries are not THAT much lower in Japan as you say. You can easily make 50-100K USD in Tokyo if you have a professional level job. If you are basing the lower salaries exclusively on English teaching jobs then yes they are lower, but not when your looking at accounting, middle to upper management, and tech jobs (must speak Japanese). FYI the minimum wage in Japan is almost EXACTLY the same as the US minimum wage for reference. Lower wage workers are MUCH MUCH MUCH better off in Japan than in America. In America lower wage workers are treated like trash and must congregate in dangerous ghettos, while in Japan you just get tiny, but safe and nice accommodations

    • @MrWalker1000
      @MrWalker1000 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@dragonofparadise it's very difficult to get a nice job in Tokyo as you say you need high level Japanese. But even for Japanese themselves salaries are low and cost of living is expensive.
      And what about outside of Tokyo where salaries are much lower than tokyo. The brightest people come to the usa because they can easily make more money and none of them I bet are thinking about going to Japan.

    • @InhabitantOfOddworld
      @InhabitantOfOddworld 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It's just more surprising comparing Japan to the UK, for the opposite reason. Granted it's the Tokyo area but $700 a month is a lot when I pay the equivalent of 650 for at least double the space if not triple.

    • @jordanjoestar76
      @jordanjoestar76 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@MrWalker1000 FALSE, ignoramus. Minimum wage in my lively city (not countryside at all) is $9 yet it's 908 yen in Tokyo. For a nice apartment, like he stated, $1200-$1500 as well. $700 will put you in the ghetto with high crime rate, roaches, etc. and you won't be getting your trash collected. good luck with getting a washer included anywhere less than $900 in my town. It's no wonder there's so many homeless people in my city unless you visit the rich areas. The struggle is real. I'm a veteran and can't afford to live on my own right now.

    Hi, kidshoryuken, If you don't mind me suggesting something, I really think that you could utilize the space that you have by getting a loft bed that has space for a desk and chair under it. I guess that would also depend on how high your ceilings are. but there are several styles available. it's almost like creating another loft dedicated for sleeping while you still have floor space. Just a friendly suggestion.

    Ok suggestions just wanted to throw them out there. Put the refrigerator and microwave in the area above the entrance or at least for the microwave use shelves that mount on the wall. Use a stepping stool if too high for the area above. That area above is just being under utilized and you need all the space you can get from what I can see. For the bed during the day put your mattress up above and stand your bed frame against the wall somewhere or even outside. With this new found space get a comfortable chair or a large bean bag. Hope this helps.

    If you place your bed on the loft, you could get yourself some seating space or a little table. That would definitely improve te space!

    • @3TimesFaster
      @3TimesFaster 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That loft probably won't support his weight and he's a pretty big/tall guy, also Japanese 'apatos' get really hot during the summer days. You want your bed as low as possible, so your ac can keep you kinda cool. Since above waist level IT WILL be hot when you come home in the evening.

    • @VogueDistortion
      @VogueDistortion 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@3TimesFaster Than maybe, you could put the game collection on top of the loft and place the tv where the collection is right now. He already uses the place as storage...

    Nice man! I think we've all been waiting for this one. That neighborhood brings me back!! I used to stay in Kita a lot (right next to Jujo station), so I love that serene kind of feeling you can get, just 10 minutes away from a major station. I'm currently going back to school for another year and a half, to make sure my visits can be a little more permanent. We'll have to go game hunting one of these days.
    P.S I don't know if you've ever talked to Jimmy Happa on YT, but he turned me onto a fucking killer little shop in Akiba called "BEEP" they have a shit ton of classic Japanese computer stuff, and a lot of pc engine stuff too. The owner actually builds his own jp21 cables. It's a cool little spot that a lot of game hunters haven't found out about yet.

      Hells yeah, we'll go grab some sushi and beers!
      I've actually been to Beep a few times, really cool little shop. If I ever start collecting for MSX or X68000 it'll be the first place I hit.

    for one person that isnt bad. How much is utilities on top of that or is $700 all in each month? If the space was better organized it would be more comfortable. I would say a mattress for that loft up there, and put a couch in the main living area and a proper tv shelf to put the stuff. Make sure the couch can be converted easily to a bed for guest or if you bring a "partner" so there is more room instead of trying to do business up in the loft bed. They always say japan is as expensive as the bay area in CA, but if they had these kind of rooms in the bay area for $700 it would be great. People are paying more than that in a shared house per room.

      Yeah 700 for a single is great. Currently paying 500 to be with 2 other roommates (here in SoCal).

    I'm 6'1 as well! I hit my head on EVERYTHING the semester I was in Japan. Door frames were especially dangerous! I hope that when I go back in the spring I learn to duck much more quickly. Your apartment reminds me my bedroom now... so many systems that there isn't enough room for them all on the entertainment center! Though I don't have the impressive game collection because I buy all of my games as a download when I can (I grew up with a thief and I cringe buying physical copies).

    • @MadPanicGaming
      @MadPanicGaming  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nothing wrong with that, I'd have SO much more free space and money if I didn't have all these damn games, haha.
      What will you be doing here in the Spring? Are you still a student, or are you coming for work?

    • @maeb3147
      @maeb3147 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh, I have a lot of games, just not the physical copies. This also means I can bring more games to Japan because all I need to do is bring the systems. I'll be teaching in Tohoku (not sure where yet), but it's narrowed down to Akita, Aomori and Iwate prefectures.
