      And to think before My Mad Fat Diary, Nico Mirallegro started out as Newt in Hollyoaks. Not bad for a soap kid.

    That cheeky Villanelle smile at the end. 😁
    I wonder if the Jodie Comer then could've ever imagined what the Jodie Comer now has achieved.

    The classic 1971 film starring Richard Attenborough (Christie), Judy Geeson (Beryl Evans), John Hurt (Timothy Evans) and Pat Heywood (Ethel Christie) has been upgraded to Blu-ray after a 4k restoration, highly recommend the upgrade. Anyone else notice in the 1971 film Rudolph Walker has a small part playing Beresford Brown, the tenant that made the gruesome discovery in Christie's kitchen when he (Beresford) peeled back the wall paper. Walker went on to play Patrick Trueman in 'EastEnders' and long before that the comedy 'Love Thy Neighbour'. Also though some scenes were filmed inside at no.7?? however in one scene Attenborough (as Christie) is clearly standing in the bay window of no.10, (exactly where the real Christie would have often stood!), it is the scene where the police inspect the manhole cover.

    In 2001 i had a landlord exactly like this, his wife never came up from the ground floor, and he stayed on the 2nd. I rented a room on the 3rd. The house was really old and creaky, and all i kept thinking about was the Murders at Rillington place, the whole scenario was far too similar for me. He even had the same sinister personality with massive glasses. They would bicker during the day, and every now and then he would stand outside my door mumbling and growling to himself, it was the creepiest thing i ever experienced, i truly thought my life could be in danger.
    On the last day, i just left without saying goodbye to them, quick escape.

      @@halloweenville1 creepy area too. Not too far from Dennis Nilsens old flat. I was once told by a police officer in Islington that he suspected they had three serial killers working in that borough alone. It makes you think how many go unnoticed. I think east Finchely is Haringey though. He sounds ever so creepy, i wonder if he really was a danger though.

    • @halloweenville1
      @halloweenville1 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@EvidentlyFire There was also a coincidence as-well. I worked in central London at the time, and a work colleague asked me which area i lived in, and i told her (East Finchley), and then mentioned the street i lived on, and she immediately said the name of the owners because she had been a lodger there just before me. This was miles and miles apart. I didn't say anything bad about living there, but she did seem quite surprised. I wonder if she also wanted to say something.

    Timothy Evans, in this version, often lied about his life. He didn't have an uncle who travelled the world as a doctor, he was in fact a car mechanic if I remember correctly. He changed his accent to make him appear more proper and lied about his job. If you'd watched the three episodes, you'd know that.

      In the 1971 film version John Hurt's Timothy Evans also made up stories and told lies.

    Speech is unclear (possibility an eq problem) which is not helped by the continual corny and overwhelming non musical foreground din. Photography and acting is brilliant. As in the first episode, the direction is slow and disjointed. This. version falls well short of the original and whatever happened to good music scoring? all those bangs and whooshes and droning wave pads are enough to drive you around the bend.

      Turns out Evans had an English accent for London, and when he went back home, he'd go Welsh. They missed that point out in 1970.

      This version of Timothy Evans didn't have a South Wales accent as Timothy Evans was a working class Welshman. John Hurt in the film version had it spot on.

      To be sure, taking up with a murderous Russian female psychopath doesn't bode well, but don't despair: she much prefers women and will soon dump him for a middle-aged lady with great hair.

      its very common for welsh scottish and irish ppl to have two accents, its not that they are faking it, both accents are real.
