- From the Academy Award winning film, Silence of the Lambs, with Anthony Hopkins and Jodie Foster. Anthony plays incarcerated serial killer and cannibal, Hannibal Lecter. Lecter was a renowned psychologist who killed at ate his victims. Foster plays Clarice Starling, a student at the FBI. She is sent to interview Lecter in prison so that he might assist the FBI in creating a profile and tracking down the notorious serial killer nicknamed Buffalo Bill because he likes to skin his victims. While interviewing Lecter, he deduces that she isn't a real FBI student and that she is just one generation away from poor white trash... The manner in which he jousts with Clarice is the stuff of legends.

The way he literally breaks people down mentally and emotionally is incredible…
Anthony in this film has one of the most incredible mid-Atlantic accents since classic Hollywood, it’s unbelievable

Watching Foster and Hopkins in their scenes together is a virtual masterclass in acting. Such economy of movement--everything is in the eyes. Bravissimi!

@@masteredwinepps3955 These are not the performances that really bothered me but mainly the pacing issues/obvious lengths, the static aspect/countless painful close-ups and the endless conversations.
THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS is a very overrated movie.
Many other thrillers/crime movies (some of them are also psychological), even older, are way far better in my opinion.

Every line from Dr. Lecter was great but the one that always made me laugh was what he said to sen. martin " Love your suit " i was like now you're just being petty LOL 🤣😂
This one of my favorite film from the late 80's - Jodie Foster wasn't even the first or second choice to play Agent Starling, but she and Hopkins nailed their respective roles. This film achieved a rare feat of winning the top 5 Academy Awards - Directing, Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Adapted Screenplay. Foster had won Best Actress in a Leading role the year prior for her performance in The Accused, another rare feat.
You are a fervant follower of if not the most powerful portrayal of a psycopathic cannibal visualized effectively & mesmerizingly onscreen.

@@markibash2689 It’s also impressive how little you see him blink in this role though, which is something that’s been observed in psychopaths.
Head tilt ever so slightly down, little to no blinking, direct unwavering stare with the occasional drifting off, lighting helps too.
His dialogues are the best parts of the movie.
Hannibal to me gives off the best therapist and either be a great dad if changed in perspective only with different actors. If he was a good guy he would be the world’s greatest detective. He’s like Moriaty but more dealt than he could be

Omg! They both nailed it! She is a good actor, I remember she was offered a role I guess when she started acting, in nude rolls, she refused because she did want to be remembered or known that way. Best choice for her, she is a brilliant actress I love her for it! They did great in this movie! ❤

What if the Joker was portrayed in this manner, he would be a much more menacing character indeed.
When I saw Joker (with Joaquin Phoenix), the character became more lucid when he stopped taking his meds. How does one stop a villain whose goal isn't money, power, world conquest, etc but simply to create havoc and mayhem?

Ian McDiarmid did a phenomena job on his own. His performance was easily the best thing to come from the prequels. That being said... Anthony Hopkins would have made a VERY interesting choice. He would have knocked it out of the park as well.

Here's a fun fact Anthony Hopkins thought Slience Of The Lambs was a children's story****He mentioned that inside the actors studio

A masterclass in being tedious. I don’t see Hannibal, i saw Anthony Hopkins. I remember being completely underwhelmed when this film came out and just now returning to look at some scenes again nothing has changed.
Who did really disturb me was Heath Ledger being the joker. He was the Joker.

Anthony Hopkins was a alcoholic horrible! He actually quit drinking if you hadn’t done that he would’ve never had the legacy of being one of the best scariest actors ever. I don’t really like fake scary movies but this movie was scary and a realistic way. They should make more movies like this I love this movie it’s one of my favorite movies. Jodie Foster was amazing in this movie also.

Anthony Hopkins is the only actor who can play Hannibal Lecter and he knew the character inside and out. He won Best Actor in 1992 and Kathy Bates gave him his award and she played Anne Wikes in Misery. Anthony Hopkins won his second oscar playing the Father. Anthony Hopkins was brilliant as Hannibal Lecter the #1 AFI villian.
