I seem to be the weird one who doesn't much care for the design of the PG Unleashed and prefers the OG, so if I were to ever pick up a PGU then this would be the way for me to go and I've actually been pretty tempted to pull the trigger.
surprising that it's a genuine 1:1 recreation of the bandai version. i definitely might try checking out daban considering they've also made things that bandai hasn't yet.
@@reinaldojohncrisostomo6738 I’ve just received it, to be honest I don’t have any new Bandai PG models, but the quality is decent. I do have the original Bandai PG RX-78-2 and it’s about the same. There are definitely bits you’ll need to scrape off with a blade or sand it off, but these are all minor things. I did notice some parts are very hard to combine VS bandai is a but smoother to connect, but again these are small little details. I think the best way to look at it is, so what you pay for, it’s pretty good and I’m glad I spent the same amount or less to buy 2x kit. Still working on the inner frame, so far so good.
from what I have seen from your video, the major difference between the og and the knockoff is the looseness of the hip joints. That left leg on yours looks like it is flopping back and forth when you place the kit horizontally. The Bandai one is extremely solid. I can't tell from the video if the plastic quality is any different. But from the stuff I have read about the knockoff it usually use inferior plastic.
I'd wager a guess that the core fighter doesn't fold because you've got the clear base adapter piece in it. There does seem to be a little bit of difference in tolerance, first some of the movement looks a little looser and I haven't had anything pop off anywhere. The only issue I've had is one of the pre-mold side skirt parts literally exploding as soon as I went to gently loosen the joints after removing it from the sprue. It went to pieces, shooting them in separate directions. Besides that it looks 1:1 like you said. My only gripe (besides stickers) is that it's too easy to build. Compare it to your '98 PG or the PG Mk-II, those needed some effort to be built and kind of had some complicated parts and assembly, but they felt more satisfying by far, to me at least. It sounds silly, but we associate earning something with there being a meaning to it. I remember slaving away over the Mk-II, I don't remember building the PGU at all.
I did try it without the adaptor in it, still just doesn't want to fold flush. I could probably force it, but it would most likely snape; and I like how the core fighter looks outside of the Gundam.
@@dankpla7037 It's probably worth disassembling it and checking for nubs that you forgot to sand down. I get it, you're not going to use it as a block anyway, but might as well do it right.
@@Smilomaniac Oh trust me, I took it apart several times to figure out what was going on. Just not sure what the problem is. It might just be a molding problem with mine. At least it's just something I don't really need.
Only issue I had with daban is their succeeding prints has shallower,if not have lost, details. The upside, apart from the price, is that daban can keep on producing while bandai limits theirs.
I do not know if this is Daban but there's a knock off of the Core Gundams. A box containing Core Gundam, planet Armor & the corresponding weapon set in one box with a --really weak-- clear stand For 5~6 dollars
Could you tell me where you bought it in Canada at that price? in a store here in Calgary the original is CAD390. X0 , I really want to save money buying this imitation because the original is too expensive.
Anyone know if the clear armor kit from Bandai works with the Daban kit? Want another RX but don’t want to fork over the money. Might get the Daban if it’s comparable.
I got the bootleg version of rx 78 2 beyond global. Missing one part on the torso-waist joint. Bought the bandai part for it. It was loose. Had to use super glue to increase the thickness of the joints.
As a Collector and a model kit builder (and custom designer), I have, too, find this kind interesting, you can used TTHongli, Daban and other knock off model kits, tho, YOU CAN male yourself a custom build and if you want to do it for real reason, model kit or not, IT STILL FITS. Right now, I’m using the various pieces and parts from both bandai and china brand knock offs DOES STILL come in handy in creative ways…
If it was that cheap, it would either have really thin plastic, or be a statue cause you'd have to glue almost everything together. There is a G3 colour version coming out too. Might want that since Bandai doesn't have one yet.
@@dankpla7037 disagree, plastics are cheap. they can afford it since they don't have all the overhead the originals have. and it's KO. theh point of KO's is that it's cheap in price.
@@RichardChan-p8p While they don't have to pay to design and create the model, they still have to make a profit. I think paying $150 CAD for a $400 CAD kit which is extremely close in quality is fair.
@@dankpla7037 yeah they do and they are even at a much lower price point. the design, templates, lease, staff, shows, marketing, R&D, molds, etc are where the biggest expenses are not the "plastics" why are you helping Ko's get more money anyway? trust me they will still want to sell at my price point.
So glad you uploaded this cause I've been looking at the reviews and none of them have been as informative as yours
I appreciate the kind words. I feel like I miss a lot of stuff in my videos, but I love doing them.
the loose torso is also a thing in the bandai kit. i have the official kit and it comes off quite easily with a little pull.
Kinda disappointing for the Bandai version considering the price.
I wonder what the best fix is… if you’ll have any recs lemme know!
@code3802 get the joint fix stuff. You can find it on any model site. Icr tue exact name. Google gunpla joint fix.
why are you lying?

Try the Motor Nuclear kits. Has the Bandai fittings, metal frame for a fraction of the price.

Daban gave us a Full Armor mk II. Bandai will NEVER drop a MG FA mk II. Wish they’d start sizing up rg kits to 1/100
