Hi, I’m Organic Dairy Farmer from Northeast South Dakota. I farm with my younger brother & we milk 50 cows. We are a 3rd generation family farm that farms 326 acres in which we raise corn, oats, alfalfa, soybeans plus we do rotational grazing with our milk cows.
We have been a certified organic dairy since November of 2006 & we take a lot of pride in what we do & strive to produce the highest quality products that we can.
I hope I can teach you a little bit of something about organic farming also in process maybe have a little fun along the way. Don’t be afraid to think outside the box!

Love the old genesis machines, my brother had an 8970 and I had an 8770. We bought them both with bad transmissions and then went through them ourselves. As someone who has had both genesis and the sound guard series Deere, I can say that I would rather spend the day in the NH over the Deere by a large margin. The NH is nicer to run in every way, although if you are doing a lot of heavy pulling the Deere transmission will out last the NH. At least if you do much shifting up and down under heavy load. If you do a side by side fuel consumption comparison you will find that the NH will use MUCH less fuel per hour doing the same job. So they do each have pros and cons.
    Enjoyed the video.

I like all tractors, as long as it is 30 years old, nothing beats old big TW Fords, JD 7020'S, MF 1200, big Internationals etc etc, today's stuff is made to make the dealer rich, nice video

I grew up with Massey Ferguson tractors drove about everything under 100hp 200 series and older. I really like my 31 year old 1990 Massey Ferguson 3070. Great tractors.

JD guy here, but you have to admit that before the new 00 series they had completey missed the train of modernity. I spent my youth in these relics of another age and when we finally got a 6010 series in the 90's it was a whole new world. It's good how they started with a clean slate and made probably the best series ever, they are still better than what most brands offer today in terms of mechanical tractors.

Having driven most makes of tractors ,they all have there problems, but if I have to choose one new Holland is more technically advanced and a very comfortable to drive long hours. Easy to maintain day to day. But I still like John Deere for reliable. Regards Bevan 🤠🇦🇺

I didn't bother to look up the specs but I'd bet the JD out performs the NH where it counts: drawbar pull. The cosmetics are just that:cosmetics. NH has some convenience and serviceability advantages but I also see some advantages in the JD. Mechanical versus electronic controls I prefer:have yet to see a mouse chew through a steel hydraulic control valve..... I have an assortment of utility series tractors: NH,JD,Ford,Case,Yanmar,JD's made by Yanmar.NH is by far the easiest to get on and off of. JD 1250 made by Yanmar is crazy fuel efficient(set a record in testing) New to me JD 5320 has A/C but I'm still going through it and have to replace the $538.00 JD water pump.Yanmars are just bare bones basic work tractors for small tasks. Ford 2910 is a spray tractor and that series was and is known for sticking clutch issues so you have to use a stick to depress clutch if idle for any period of time.As you said all tractors have the advantages and disadvantages and it's pretty much personal preference.

They aren’t in the same horsepower or weight range. I’d say the Deere would win. A better genesis to compare would be an 8870 or 8970

Comfort and convenience are extremely important, I think a lot of people discount that but if I'm comfortable I'll spend more hours in the tractor even after a long day with the cows. Instead of going in for the night it's like resting to put in a couple more hours.

As bad as I hate to say it but the J.D. will bring 60 grand today and the New Holland will bring half of that. The same with any other brand compared to the J. d. By no way is the deere better but will bring more money today.

I got into fixing, flipping or keeping tractors and heavy equipment as a "stress relieving hobby" several years back.Only tractor I ever bought new is a New Holland TC55DA.Got 64 acres of rough land in East Texas and I use an assortment of the tractors I kept along with dozer,TLB,crawler loader, dump truck etc up there for improvement and maintenance projects.Because of the profit I made selling equipment I fixed the net cost of what I've kept is very minimal. Think buy 3 tractors, fix all 3,sell 2 and so on. The era I prefer is from late 1970's to early 1990's: original condition(not restored) used units are fairly inexpensive and parts are 90% readily available on major manufacturer brands for models with decent production numbers.Heavy electronics I hate :insulation breaks down, too many "field fixes" in the past, forget finding replacement circuit boards, etc.Basic mechanical controls can be repaired basically forever.
When getting deep into internals of drive trains there is a difference in quality between manufacturers: thicker gears, more robust bearings, bearings instead of sleeves and bushings, thicker castings: that sort of thing.Even something as simple as seals is different: some use real cup seals and some use a compressed O ring.
For robust original design and build I'll irritate most everyone and rate them from best to not so best:
    JD and International:tied
    New Holland (post Ford)
    Massey Fergusson
    Ford
    Case(weak gears trains)
On new tractors I tell anyone who asks your money, your choice. On used equipment I suggest any unit they can afford to purchase and repair with the list I gave as a general guide.
Most important thing to determine what tractor to get is what will it be used for: don't buy a 200HP tillage tractor if all you'll be doing is mowing with a 15' batwing shredder. Don't buy a 100HP utility tractor if you're going to be pulling a 8 bottom breaking plow over 300 acres.

18 mph for the North American model. They manufactured the same New Holland Genesis models for the European market with 18 speeds topping out at over 25 mph. Dutch guy down here in north central Indiana has imported 3 8970s to get the higher road speed tractors for his custom manure and silage hauling business.

As far as I’m concerned and for the record I have all 4 genesis tractors! There are positives to one thing or another always has been and always will but now in 2020 tractors no matter the color are basically the same. I’ve had a John Deere 7250r before and it was to light for the horsepower.
