MANGAMATE HUT: All you need to know! Huts of New Zealand

Mangamate Hut is a standard 9-bunker within the Whirinaki Forest park, almost identical to Upper Whirinaki Hut. Accessed from the River road carpark south of Minginui, it's a moderately difficult 4 hour tramp with a decent amount of climb and countless river crossings. The track is best walked in the opposite direction, so I recommend doing a multi day tramp staying at Central Whirinaki Hut first, then tramping to Mangamate Hut. The hut is well equipped and situated atop a saddle with a good view down the valley. It's a bit exposed to the weather, but it's warm and insulated.
