Letting your artist oil paints sit on a piece of cardboard to leech out some of the excess oil is amazing. Started doing it recently and it made it much easier to work with.
Also, something to consider - something like Streaking Grime or other weathering products are MADE to leave residue on the outer surfaces, and not just in the nooks and crannies, so with those, I try to avoid much wipe off, and stick with subtle movement and manipulation as it sets up. With the panel liners, that effect may or may not be the desired effect. Best bet is try them out, and get comfortable what gives you the effect you want. Thanks- great video!
Had any issues with staining on resin 3D prints? This weekend I panel lined some proxy Necrons using an oil wash (Daler Rowney Lamp Black + white spirit) on 4K prints and it seemed like the oil wash dulled the acrylic colors nearby in a way that would would not wipe off, even with white spirit on a makeup sponge. Thinking it was the raw matte acrylic that stained easily (Vallejo Xpress colors over zenithal prime) I brushed on satin varnish before my next batch, but still got the same stain / dulling even far from the panel lines where the oil wash was applied. Not sure whether it was the resin print texture, matte acrylic underneath, or some other issue, but I'll have to do some tests. Frustrating to deal with unexpected staining.
If I had to guess it would be the 3d print texture. Did you do a gloss varnish before washing? If not. that should alleviate some of the problems you’re having. Any time I use oils on anything slightly textured it wants to just live in the small recesses

Exactly! They are really versatile and allow you to choose the level of grime.
Great video! Good to see you back 👍
Thank you!
