This is usually a defense people make against homophobia and while misused, it's used for an appropriate purpose. I myself am agnostic but respect anyone who follows a religions and I will treat their religions as fact when talking with them because that's what they believe and operate on. While i'm straight, I extend this same branch to people who are not which is something an unfortunate sum of people do not do
