Your doing good on minnows. I got 2 minnow ponds and I try a 2 litter bottle on my trap so it hangs about 16 inches deep. It keeps algae off trap. I use dog food or raw bacon for bait I'll have a trap full in an hour
When I was a boy we used to use a snatch net at our camp We let the net down and put out corn meal or grits. My job was to watch for the shiners to show up and holler at daddy! Good times. Been wearing the bull bream out here in south Alabama.
I watched a podcast a year ago and a guy on there said he would use tadpoles for crappie certain times a year. He said the crappie would knock fire out of them !!! Maybe take you a few and try it out. Good luck....
I have a black minnow trap from Walmart and I don’t have a problem catching minnows. Was funny the other day I stuck a bream in mine to stay fresh for bait and minnows saw him im there and went to visit 😂
AWF, I have a feeling someone is helping themselves to your minnow pond and they are using your minnow traps. Putting your pond on TH-cam, and showing the stocking of the pond, anyone around the area knows about that pond and if they watch your TH-cam Channel, they are saving themselves that thirty dollars a pound for crappie minnows instead of you. Where I live, they probably would have run a seine through the pond and stole the traps too. I hope your area is more on the straight and narrow path than mine, and I am way off base on this one. Just saying.

It’s pretty inaccessible, have to drive by private residence to get there.
