I ride a 1290 and couldn’t agree more, torque is what makes me love the bike. Rode bikes with 200hp but the torque makes me smile so much, nothing can keep up out of a corner (road riding)

Why the fuck are people complaining g about the cams eating themselves, I know multiple owners that haven’t had an issue since the day they bought their bikes two of them own a 790 for track use only not an issue there. I owned a 2020 Duke 790 and put 23000km on it. No issue what so ever, do you people just love to complain about KTM all the time?

Actually kept me from buying a brand new 2022 Panigale V4S. Found a used 2018 Winglet free V4 instead. Shame that the manufacturers aren't smart enough to know that we all hate them and if they need to homologate for racing that they should make them easily removable and include some type of good looking block off plate.
I told myself I would only upgrade if Ktm released a large displacement street legal sport bike. I didn’t expect this so early or at all so cheers guys. Way to make my dreams come true! :)
We'll likely see a RC790 in the future to go against the RS660 and R7. But I've heard talks of CFMOTO having plans on releasing a V4 Superbike. CFMOTO owns KTM, obviously the engineering R & D has to be done in Austria. I think KTM might be supplying that motor and working on one of their own. Once it's finished they'll put it in a V4 superbike and CFMOTO will use that engine to develop a bike of their own. Just speculation tho.

Yes this is the sweet spot for a fast road / track bike. But it seems like it’s just come full circle really. It’s a litre bike with a power output of about 130 bhp (im Guessing??) That’s like superbikes at the end of the 90s! Now the top bikes have all gone mental in capacity and power output. They’re awesome, but stupidly quick and expensive, and now we’re talking about these ones as “super-sports”bikes. Which is what we called 600s back in the day. So yes - looks ace. A fast 1000c V twin race-inspired bike. They were good back then and still are!
I need it. Any idea of price? This is the first new bike in years that I am already planning to get. I love the new cbr600rr, but i can't justify swapping my 2014 cbr600rr for the new one, when the old one is already so good, and i already have it. Having had a Ducati 749s and 748r, i love my middleweight twins, but I'm not keen on the panigale v2. And I live for sportsbikes but don't see the point of 1000cc nuclear hand grenades that are too powerful to ever use. Price is the bit I'm scared of. Knowing me I'll be forced into a second hand one if its much more than the cbr But i like what i see so far.

This is the bike I've been waiting for. I own an sv650s and an sv1000s so it's pretty evident I love the twins lol. The sv650s is perfect for throwing around in twisties but I just wish it had a little bit more power so I got the sv1000s but the handling on that bike is sub par. With so many middle-weight twins in the market I've been waiting for a modern big twin sportbike that actually handles well and this is looking like my dream bike. The torque of a 1000 supersport but the gearing and power of a 600 is the perfect road bike in my opinion. Here in New Zealand most of our twisty roads are tight, sharp, blind corners so very technical riding as opposed to long open sweepers with lots of vision, an I4 superbike just doesn't make sense here.
I have to admit that the wrap is pretty effective, it's really difficult to see what the lines of this bike look like. Looks like it will be a good looking bike.
They won't. He specifically said they're not going to chase high horsepower AND that they don't want to risk making the engine unreliable. How can you hear that and say "wow let's hope for 2,000 more rpm and huge power !"
@@noblaw7595 You didn’t pay much attention to this did you as the rev limiter has been increased by 1,500 rpm and still safe and reliable. As an ex Australian Superbike Racer, these engines get pushed way further as you’re not chasing 10’s of 1,000’s in engine reliability, just max performance. So as a road bike come race bike it’s safe. When converted to a track only weapon the max revs will be lifted further which is basically what has been happening for 100 years. OMG.
The RS660 is a great bike.. Very comfortable.. it just lacks power! If KTM can make this as comfortable as the RS660 with 20 bhp more. I think they will be onto a winner.
I want this bike soooooo bad! I'll have to probably sell all my other bikes to afford one but i think it's gonna be worth it. I don't need a 200+hp monster. And the supersport class has been lacking any innovation for years now. This ktm is exactly what I need in life. A cutting edge track weapon with usable power figures and hopefully a usable budget.
