BMW’s Monster 4.8is.
My 4.8is is coming 28th February.
I can’t wait to hear the v8.. these cars are going up in value.
I paid £6k for 115.000 miles. 2005..

I had a 4.8is - at first, it sounded amazing. After a while, it sounded like pound coins bouncing down the road, every time I put my foot down. I think I was getting about 12mpg
My BMW x5 e53 2005 4.8iS is awesome, 98k miles, new tyres, new id4motion instrument cluster, new xtrons head unit, tinted windows, rear tv screens, sat nav, heated seats, ride height problem solved... New switch, today, new battery, plugs and coils, estoril blue, 20inch alloys, new gear shift lever upgrade, what more could you want? Get yourself a BMW x5 2005 e53 4.8is!!!
The only feeling better than driving my 4.8is around Essex was the relief at selling it. Beautiful but never again.
However tempting a 4.8is SOUNDS; however perfect its Le Mans Blue paint is after 15 years; however low the mileage; however alluring the like-new interior leather... don't buy.
When the gearbox goes, it's pretty much, irreplaceable; the air suspension system, struts, bushes, arms, electrics, VVT motor... the 4.8is is a total money pit. When people say the few remaining (there's about 30 left in the UK?) are going up in value, they're correct, but if you get one, allow yourself £2k-£3k a YEAR in maintenance alone. MPG for me was 15. If you want to chuck money at an old V8 BMW, get one that isn't a E53.
I’ve daily driven my early 4.4 for nearly 10 years. I’ve looked at 4.8’s but have yet to find a decent one so for now I’m sticking with mine. The V8 X5’s are getting rarer by the day so will be sought after in a few years time.
100% agree with this! Future classic in the making that is!
If your 4.4 has lasted you 10 years, stick with that mate. My 4.8is was a money pit and I'd discourage people from buying one. Beautiful to drive, beautiful to listen to, miserable to own! 😆

Big fan of the E53, they were a game changer when first released. My uncle had a 3.0l sport which was such a leap on from the previous Grand Cherokee’s he had before.
Really were brilliant cars for the time, and still today a good choice if you purchase a well cared for example 👍

Only get one of these if you can fix basic stuff by yourself or have a good mechanic, otherwise you'll be pouring a lot of money into it.
My e53 is a 3.0d and after tune is now 288 bhp and 580 nm I was going to get a 4.8 but all the horrors put me off plus so bad on petrol all the BMW advice was get the 3.0d it's rapid and will do over 30 mpg on motorway so glad Irealy recommend this engine I'm a petrol head have E39 2.8 E60 3.0i love them but they will not tick has many box's as the x5
Also got a facelifted 3.0d. Have had it for almost 2 years now.
@@agen1man yeah e53 is a real sport SUV you cauld have one and never need another car well in theory
Pretty cheap... i think it will cost much more even if you put that to a barn for 5y and then ask again

That car will bankrupt you. There is no cheap 4.8is. Sorted one will cost at least 8k
This one is sorted, bar two small issues, have done over 1500 miles in it with no issues 🤔
Ive done 20k km on my 4.4 from 180 to 200k km without issues

@@MaxCaissie Totally different vehicle. 4.8is has N62 engine, 6 speed ZF transmission and 2-axle air suspension. These are the bankrupting culprits.
