Awesome Videos!! Thankyou SO much. I really dont think you are about to come to Australia to help me with my horses saddlefit - but these videos are the next best thing!
Thanks.I am so weird! I got a $35.00 saddle( it was at one of those stores where everything is a third of what it's supposed to be) and I don't have a horse yet. I am going to try my hardest to do everything that your videos taught me to make me and my horse happy!
Thanks so much for this I think it is really important to have some knowledge of saddle fit rather than relying on a fitter for everything, horses can change shape so quickly! I think you could have prevented some nasty accidents or certainly prevent discomfort to horses by producing these videos :-)
@OakyPoke Thank you for your comment. Peter Horobin of Horobin Saddlery in Australia uses the same Saddlefit4Life philosophy to fit saddles to horses that Schleese Saddlery uses. I would suggest that you contact Peter Horobin to discuss both you and your horse's needs.
Love the series! although i do not own a schleese saddle, it helped me determine the best fit for the horses i ride ( i have an ajustable saddle ). I have aslo been using a thinline half pad underneath and it makes such a difference! The horses relax and i can sit my pony's bumpy trot much better :) thankyou
This is such a helpful series of videos. As I do not know how to do English riding just yet, I hopefully will be learning soon because I would like to learn jumping. I have learned Western riding since I was a about 9 years old(AM NOW 21) but I have always loved the elegance of the English riding and have wanted to learning jumping since I was a kid, but my parents were very scared for me to learn jumping since it increases the risk of dangerousness of riding because of Chris Reeves'accident.
Great video! Can you please comment on the difference btw fitting a dressage and a jumping saddle? In this video it seemes as the second saddle is a jumping saddle and the black one dressage. Are the principles of fitting them any different?
@0Kazeshini0 It is first and foremost important that the saddle fits the horse in motion and is comfortable for the rider and allows the rider to be in an ideal riding position naturally, without having to struggle to keep one's correct alignment of shoulders, hips and heels. If you and your horse are both comfortable in your dressage saddle I see know reason why it would be necessary to change saddles on a hack - competitive endurance riding is another subject completely.
Really great serie, i hope it will help my horse :) I didnt know all that about a saddle, my sadle is way smalle underneth so thats properly why he is bucking and wont ride, So Thank you so much :D
Brilliant video series, just watched all 9 - a lot of information in there that isn't generally taught! I have a question though - I noticed you mentioned that Peter Horobin in Aus does similar things to you, is there an equivalent in NZ? Thanks!
Very, very helpful! I have a Thoroughbred Jumper that has high withers and wide shoulders just like the horse in this video. I recently had a wide tree cc saddle fitted to him, and he's like a whole new horse. You said something at the end of this video.... "I hope you're not going to lose your partner to ill fitting equipment like I did"... May I ask what happened to your horse?
Thank you so much for this video. It really gives me a lot of important information for my saddle. I live in Switzerland, do you know where I can find a good saddler the same philosophy as you or can you suggest me a good one here in switzerland, Im thanking you in advance. =) God Bless.
Good to know that the saddle you already have can be altered to fit your horse, how many people spend 3k on a saddle and then have it not fit properly. What is a shame is that a lot of riders and trainers only use one or two saddles and tries to fit them to every horse. I wish there was an easier way to fit saddles to every horse so you dont have to have 10 different saddles all over the place.

Rachel M. -- Winter Park -- Schleese step 9 -- the tree of the saddle needs to be wide enough to allow the shoulder to move freely
Well darn I fear my newly 'fitted' saddle is a badddd match now :(
