Gosh, it is sad to read from so many haters. If you are already informed enough to know the answers then you are fortunate. Remember, some people have no idea what to do at all about saddle fit and some are seeing these videos for the first time and everyone is information. Learning has it curves, good and bad. No ones needs negative Nellies!
hello, keep in mind that the tree will finish having about an 1 to 1 1/2 inches of wool and leather under it, giving enough clearance over the withers. wendy
Deidre Allen I know, it kinda looks like the hole above the withers isn't enough room, too. But that's just me. I've heard really good things & better performance for horses with saddles made from materials that flex & change to fit the horses' movements. I'm going that way or to a treeless now.
+BURNS SADDLERY LOL! She referred to the 18th rib as she pointed; and, pointed to the hairline; and drew out all those ribs and emphasized the 18th rib as a reference point. But, never drew the 18th rib? LOL!
gramy58 I know I'm no expert, but I have a short backed horse & it drives me nuts that so many saddles have that extended back jockey (leather) that ya really just don't need...
By feel. You want to “feel “ up underneath the saddle to ck saddle tree. It is difficult but you can if you try. Also contacting the saddle maker and asking what type of tree they use and who manufacturers it and where is a good research idea. Remember that stock trees from china aren’t going to be as carefully made as local or USA made trees for individual saddle makers. You will pay far more for a good tree set. Best of luck and great video young lady! Thank you for your time in making this to inform!!!!
Mystic Monique The horse has shark fin withers and a strong shoulder paired with a slim build. Maybe it does have a little bit of a swayed back, but that's primarily a genetic condition.
Need more saddle to horse videos. Excellent tutorial.
Thank you! One of the best about saddle fit!!!
I found the concrete visual very helpful. Thanks!

Never been around horse women huh..? Toxic af
There does not seem to be very much clearance on the high withers to me, I thought you should be able to get 2 to 3 fingers in the gap?

I don't see any flare in the front of the bar. It looks like the saddle is pinching the scapula.

I would like to know why the tree extends beyond the 18th rib if it's not supposed to?
gramy58 all of the ribs are not drawn out, thanks for your comment

That's a tiny saddle mold.... O.o
Elizabeth Carlson the saddle is a barrel racing tree 13.5 inch tree thanks
Thank you for this informative video; I learned a lot is a short time. I hope you paint your horse like this for Halloween.
Tell that to Ren Hurst.
Thats good information, but how do you see that on a completed saddle? You dont buy a tree, you buy a saddle,,,

Scapula is a bone not a joint 🙄and this saddle is way too long and will cause discomfort or even pain for the horse...😣😳
👍🏼
Scapula scapula scapula scapula wow your so proper wow proper oh ow ah proper
that cool my horse twitches a lot
Sorry you lost me when you said scapula was the main joint of the shoulder... Scapula is the bone, nothing more and nothing less
Same. At that point I was like.."should I even keep listening??" 🤔
Honestly it looks like the horse is a bit sway backed due to breaking and riding too young and improper saddle fitting!
Monique Galloway joking ? lol

There is no such thing as a "cotton wood pine" tree.
