    good tutorial. These water pressure last about 10 to 15 years on average. Just replaced mine at 18 years old.

      Mine was not having an issue that I was aware of but i did just replace it. It came with the house I'm the 3rd owner and lived here for 24 years. That being said with the new one the house seems to have low pressure or definitely not what it was before. The plumber set it at 60 ....I'm going to have to bump it up a bit.

    My dad increased water pressure in the house to have stronger showers with less temperature jump when someone flushes. Now our taps screech when you turn them, drips and leaks have sprung from the tap seals, limescale staining and rust developing on the fittings/pipes. It's been months but he refuses to change them. So I'm going on a mission to reduce the water pressure hopefully without him noticing and save our house from an inevitable plumbing disaster. Ignorance is not bliss!

      Smart girl! Gradually and he probably won't notice!

    When I put the pressure gauge on my water heater it’s not registering anything because I’m sure I need to do something to open up that line. What is it I need to do exactly? I see the small fitting on the side but don’t know how to open it. Thx!!

    • @MikeKlimek
      @MikeKlimek  3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Different hose bibbs have different methods of opening. It sounds like yours uses a screwdriver. Put it in there and turn. You should hear water start to flow

    Do you have a video on here showing how to get more water in the toilet bowl?!
    I appreciate your help! Have a good day! ☀️

    • @MikeKlimek
      @MikeKlimek  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't as of yet, but are you saying that your toilet is refilling too slowly, or that the level of water in the bowl is too low?

    • @Tameka731
      @Tameka731 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@MikeKlimek The water is too low in bowl, I’ve heard before that there’s a way to get more water in bowl by doing something in the tank. What that is, idk!! TY!!

    • @MikeKlimek
      @MikeKlimek  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Tameka731 The level of water in the bowl is really determined by the design of the bowl, and the design of the trap beneath the bowl. That's why you could continually pour a stream of water into the bowl and it would never overflow. Once it reaches the height of the trap the water flows into the drain.

    My increase pressure nut is dripping water very slowly when water is running do I have to replace the whole pressure value

    • @MikeKlimek
      @MikeKlimek  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You could probably rebuild it, but replacing is likely faster/easier

    Your regulator is so clean . What do you use ? Did you do the 48 hour surge test ?

    The pressure value in my townhouse has the gauge attached and it reads between 60 -65 psi but the problem is it just started to leak, drip. So I didn't know it if still can be adjusted or replaced.

    • @MikeKlimek
      @MikeKlimek  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes you can adjust it, but the leak is obviously the bigger concern. Many can also be rebuilt.

    Last week had a new hot water installed. They also replaced the water pressure regulator valve. Fast forward to a week later. I noticed the pressure in house wasn’t as strong all week. Anyway, went to do laundry and washer was not filling up as it normally does even when I switched the controls to deep water wash. Basically, it filled up about 6-7 inches of water. Prior to have the new pressure valve installed I never had a issue. My washer is about two years old. Could the pressure valve if set too low cause my washer not to fill properly? Trying to figure if it’s related to that or just a conindence my washer needs repaired. Thanks

    • @MikeKlimek
      @MikeKlimek  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You have a couple of things to consider. The new pressure reducing valve controls water pressure to both hot AND cold. The new water heater controls just hot water. Are you having any pressure problems with any other fixtures, tubs, showers in the house? If so is the problem isolated to only the hot water? If so I would look closely at the water heater (may be as simple as the cold water supply valve isn't fully opened). If you have problems with both hot and cold pressure, look at the PRV. Additionally, was the washer filling with hot water or cold? If no other problems in the house, I would look at the washer. You mentioned you noticed a pressure drop throughout the house, you can adjust the PRV to fix that as the video shows. You can buy a gauge to check the pressure. It should be between 40 and 80

    • @71wolverines
      @71wolverines 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MikeKlimek Thank you. I think the pressure in the kitchen sink is a little weaker but not much and that seems to be with either hot and cold. Same for bathroom sink. It’s a little more tricky in the shower because I actually just remodeled the bathroom. So I don’t know. If the shower is alot weaker or it’s also has to do with the shower head as well. The bathroom was done a week after Christmas and the pressure seemed normal as well as the washer. Now it does take the hot water about 10 seconds to start getting warm if I just turn the hot water on and that’s regardless which faucet I use.

    • @MikeKlimek
      @MikeKlimek  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@71wolverines It sounds like the new PRV is set lower that your old one (which may be set correctly between 40-80). You could always put a gauge on the washing machine faucet or water heater drain and test the pressure to be sure

    Hi Mike. If the Valve is labeled as 25 - 75, how does the water pressure reach 100? The Valve is obviously set somewhere int he 25 - 75 range, so how does the water get through it to reach 100? Does this indicate a faulty valve???

    • @MikeKlimek

      Are you taking pressure readings from just 1 hose bib? Try in a few places, such as another hose bib, the water heater drain, etc. Does everything show 100psi?
