      Yap, yap. I watched Messi’s debut when everyone knew he would soon become one of the best players in the world, he was different. No one watched Ronaldo’s debut match for United and thought he would be a world class player, they might as well have been watching Quaresma or Nani. Messi led his team to last World Cup and Copa America while Ronaldo was invisible (and goal-less) in WC and scored a single goal in the Euros. They were both awesome during their very long peak years, but Ronaldo is nowhere near Messi in longevity.

    We as fans who watched footabll in the 80's, 90's and 2000's up until 2009, saw the best era of football. It has left us jaded because we think it is normal to have so many generational talents every year.
    I think this is supposed to be kinda the normal levels that we should expect in the sports. In the previous decades we saw almost 5-6 exectional players come and grace the sport. Today that isnt the case.
    In the case of Nani, he would be a killer in today's game. His dribbling would put many of the supposed top players to shame.

    • @BeforeThisNovember
      @BeforeThisNovember 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You tryna say we don’t have generation talents this decade?

      @@BeforeThisNovember No lets be honest, these players are doing well at a younger age but that has been happening for the last 6-9 years, but none of those players have ever come close to resemble to level of performances that I saw from the players in the 90's into the 2000's.
      I am not a very old person, I am in my late 20's. So don't think I am hating on the current crop of players for no reason. I just think there might be a problem of over training players and not letting them have any personality to their style of play.
      I would kill to see players as obscure as quaresma or even Menez. At the very least these players were fun to watch. They were never seen as world class. I miss seeing players like them.

    • @BeforeThisNovember
      @BeforeThisNovember 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TheFergo911 no it was just easier to stand out back then. The levels today are much higher all round.
      A great parallel I often use is: when COD first came out, online, (Modern Warfare) I was DOMINANT. I was consistently top of the lobby most games, stomping everyone.
      I then went back to it a few years later and there were literally kids stomping me far harder than I ever did. Simply because the levels had now been raised so much. Kids were playing from a younger age and had a far greater understanding of the game.

    • @TheFergo911
      @TheFergo911 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      @@BeforeThisNovember that is the worst opinion when considering what I said.
      I said that football had a golden generation, there was world-class players everywhere and I mean everywhere. I can name a few, but by your logic those players if they were in their prime today they wouldn't have been able to show their class as they did in the past because many of the defenders or the other players in their positions are not only going to be able to defend them better but they will be better than them in their respective positions.
      This idea of your does not diswade me from saying that players like Van Persie, Ronaldinho, R9, Cafu, Del Peiro, dennis bergkamp , Henry, zidian or Zlatan arent going to be better than the players who play in their respective positions today.
      In my opinion those who watched the sport during the 80's,90's,2000's and even the few years after 2010 experienced a golden generation of talent. So the extreme high should not be considered as the norm, this is the normal.
      We were so spoilt that teams never said that finding a striker to score 15-plus goals isn't a problem as much as it is today. I cannot tell you how hard it is to find any player that can resemble the crop of players we saw in the past generation.
      I might say we have a very good talent pool of midfielders and goalkeepers, but any kind of talent that is there in the front three cannot compare to what you would see in the 2000's or the 90's.

    When Nani was starting to find that consistency with age, I think people forget how young Nani was... He was 19 when we signed him in 2007, around 2012, he was like 24, when players start to hit their peak and are done growing in all aspects, that's when Carragher did that tackle on him, he was never the same after that.

    I wish he would have shown up now, him, at United 😂😂 cutting inside to play a pass or score. Like, Nani as an inside forward, not a winger. Would be amazing enacted he’d probably draw a foul every time he got the ball.
