He was meant to reach a certain speed then purposely slide the bike out, but he held on for too long, which is what likely caused the horrific hit. But he's played it to fame and a quick Google search will show the elderly stuntman standing next to a banner depicting the crash.
No CGI in the seventies I'm afraid. These are real stunts and thats what the first two max movies were known for. I heard there was some serious injuries...not sure about death.

@@keithfrance6191 Complete BS.The stuntman didn't sustain any injuries at all.He was groggy and was checked over by George Miller (doctor) No stuntmen in any of the Films were killed.

Simon Lewis , it's just a naturally aspirated engine , the blower is fake , it had a separate electric motor to spin it , the electric motor is hidden by the big yellow funnel when the Goose shows Max the car in the garage for the first time
@@jimthomas777 The yellow funnel was to hide the gaping hole in front of the carby as the blower sat on a frame. The blower couldn't turn on and off as depicted in the film,it was direct drive.

No he didn’t die. In fact I watched an interview with him recently where he said he carried on afterwards, no mention of injury.

Max planted them while Toecutter and Bubba Zanetti were inside of the shop, two pictures of Jessie, Sprog and Jim Goose.
