Indeed, it's amazing to watch. Yep, going from slides at 30-40km/h to 70-85km/h will really explose the flaws in one's technique. I'm glad to see that people are still getting stoked on the best riders skating at their best on one of the most challenging and diverse courses ever.
@@lucasbrunelle Very cool, I hope you got in some downhill runs with the Metro! Lausanne is one of the best inline downhill tracks ever, along with Lyon, but unfortunately neither happen anymore. There was a freeride in Bukolik in Montreaix about 10 days ago, though!
@@InlineDownhillVancouver I tried to get riders to do a proper shred and everyone's so damn careful these days, I'll be posting the footage of Euro Cycle Messenger Championships (ECMC) form Lausanne but it's nothing like what we used to do
+ILIKESKATE Yes, it is. It's also the most fun! There is no shame in using t-stops, I do all of the time, but it's best to avoid them if possible, since t-stopping is relatively ineffective and will wear the wheels the fastest. That being said, the t-stop is reliable and stable at any speed. I'm no expert myself, as I have bad knees, but I do what I can. Keeping more weight on my toes than heel has helped me with smoother, rather than sudden, slides. Raising the heel on my skates has helped me achieve that; though, that's not for everyone. Whether, doing a parallel slide or magic, there will always be more pressure on the leading skate. Practice carving and breaking grip and sliding a bit at the end of each carve; sliding is a natural extension of carving. Sliding is not a sudden movement. You want to push your skates out to the side and smoothly forward. @@InlineDownhillVancouver Absolutely right! I noticed some of the competitors use the rubber brake and others used the t-stop. But the rubber brake seems to be safer and effective.. what do you think?
It's definitely the best video on this channel, and that's mainly due to the nature of the track and the high level of the riders; I'm still grateful that I was able to capture it. There have been tracks like Sochi and Nanjing that have exciting and challenging elements of speed and technical riding, but no tracks have been able to match the combination of speed, technical braking, obstacles, and diversity of technical cornering like Lausanne and Lyon have.
Bboy Geometry It feels like endorphins and it is addictive for this reason. When it's intense, but still controlled, it's an adrenalin filled state of zen; nothing else exists in that moment.
Aw man I can't wait! I get those same feeling just watching you guys fly. Theres a perfect hill in my home town of Reading Pa. Called skyline drive. There's a japanese pagoda at the top of the mountain. They held Redbull down hills before. It's so dope! I'm going to give it a shot this summer. I'll be sure to post it.
Generally 83-86a. Around 85a is the most common, but it's important to keep in mind that urethane varies from manufacturer to manufacturer and even between batches of the same manufacturer. More importantly, a lot of the top riders can slide on any wheels, so most of it is technique. In any case, around 85a; try a selection of wheels.
I prefer to ride rockerd and so sliding and snow ploughing are not really viable for slowing, only two wheels for friction but this does look great fun. Each to their own, though twisting 'n' spinning is my thing.
+UrbanWanderer Thanks. Downhill in general is possible for anyone who is competent on skates, but these riders are the best in the world pushing the limit of their skills.

Wow, you seem quite emotionally affected by this situation, even days later. I'm sorry that you're upset about me taking down the content that you stole in order to drive traffic to your Facebook profile, so that you can sell more skates. These videos are not free to use for commercial purposes unless it's in direct support of the IIDA and it's not your content to use without permission. I'm directly involved in inline downhill and officially with the IIDA and none of these videos are monetized, hence the lack of commercials displayed. This video has had hundreds of thousands of views in other mediums, but that is besides the point here. It's great that you show interest in the sport, but you've done it in a completely disrespectful manner and you continue to do so. Your comment was marked as spam, since you bombed my channel with comments, but I don't mind approving them to have your comments out in the open.
These slides look epic!!!
this video goes hard af!!!!
+lollerskater Yeah, no doubt. It's easily the best video on the channel, content wise, since all of the riders are killing it.
Ou, these curves, transitions and slides at high speed, this is incredibly graceful!..
Incredably exciting ! What great skills and bravery ! ...and what a goal to aim for !
Agreed on all accounts!
Great video , this is a beautiful presentation for discipline.Toute my congratulations :) ;)
man i would seriously watch this shit
The slides are freakin' INSANE :)))! Learning the slides is one thing, but doing them at big speeds... a totally different skill :))). Killer vid!

slide stopping seems to be a big part of downhilling, i always end up drag stoppping and burning too much rubber, any tips on learning to slide?

How are all of them not dead yet? I take a safer approach, downhill unicycle.
Hahaha, these riders have trained for years and are great athletes. Downhill unicycle is rad, though. :D
