Well, well…perfect timing. Just saw they launched in Ulta today. I’d be curious to see your thoughts on how their cream bronzer compares to Saie’s (if you already have it) for a future video. Anyway, this was a great thorough review!
Okay this will be my last comment I swear 😂 I would love to see a full-face “blurry mauve” inspired look using other non-Chanel items in your collection. I also love the idea of “blurry mauve” and I feel like it describes your tastes so well
I completely lost interest in makeup in the past 6-8 months but Chanel releases are still getting me. I love all my Chanel products, there is just something exceptional in them and I have the best makeup days when I’m wearing Chanel.
Chanel makeup is meant to be very classic, very subtle, not in your face look. You call it boring, but its what this brand is all about. To me very classic, very elegant. Love everything Chanel. I used their makeup for years on and off ( just because at one point, i was using only pure ingredients makeup ) But i do not like their stick blushes. The new collection for Spring just came out with 2 blushes , very nice texture and the lighter blush is very pretty. Have a blessed day🙏🧡
I’ve been using Chanel for over 20 years. The powder blushes are much better than the balm (although they reformulated the powder blushes last year and I’ve heard they are not as good.). The healthy beiges foundation was reformulated in 2020 and it’s great now. I love the Chanel skincare. The eye shadows are hit or miss. I love “spices” from their regular line. Also, their powder highlight is generally really good.
All of their eyeshadows seem to go into the "believable, wearable, glam" area which I do have to say I appreciate in a shadow. If only because so many brands go for loads of pigment and saturation and you have to gingerly apply them to get the same subtle, wearable look. Not a single Ulta in my area is currently carrying Chanel, but boy do I hope they carry their lipsticks eventually so that I can get Ulta points for my purchases.
I mix both bronzing shades together for my perfect shade, the deep on its own sheered out looks muddy for me, the light doesn’t show up but mixed it’s perfect. The old formula was more matte, silicone-y and less balmy which I preferred. I also love the Chanel corrector and concealer.
The Chanel pressed powder was my most favorite powder of all time and I'm STILL mad they stopped making it 😤 I also loved Vitalumiere Aqua and went through a few bottles (that was probably 10 years ago) Now that I know I'm sensitive to octinoxate, I can't buy it again. I'm going to get the new reformulated Dior Forever Matte bc they changed the formula to a different sunscreen and I can use it again! Please consider doing a Dior video similar to this one! I know I love the foundation products, but haven't tried the color products in about 10 years.
This eyeshadow look is so so beautiful on you. Wowowow. I find it reads very mauve, but that’s one of those colors everyone seems to define a little differently. That is why I loved HLP’s video where she tries to answer the question “what even is bronze?” Lol
I have (and love) the Water fresh tint, it is a great base product. Their powder blushes and loose powder were staples for me, but they've sadly reformulated them and the new formulations seem to be disappointing...
Yess love this video! My favorites from Chanel: Vitalumiere acqua foundation Les beiges powder (pretty sure this was the 'first' healthy glow/non mattifying powder) Ombre premiere in patine bronze Rouge coco flash (boy)
I think the grabbing and misplacing things is a Simon's thing and not only related to development phases. My 30-years-old-Simon-named-boyfriend still does that, except he randomly puts things he just grabbed on any available surfaces in front of him. To remedy the chaos, I bought plants and placed them on any available flat area so there is no room available anymore to receive his offerings. I thought I was a genius. Except this morning I found his whistle in the fridge next to the butter. I was glad the butter didn't end up in his clothes.

I love chanel makeup, they re very dependable. I also love the foundation you tried, the water fresh, but also the cc cream and the velvet finish foundation. All very good. The powders are meh for me, they tend to had pan. The lipsticks formulas, i ❤️. Rouge coco flash - a gloss in a tube basically, it has a lovely colorful translucency that you can layer for a stained glass effect. Coco bloom, great for really slick butter hydrating opaque laquers. Rouge allure, perfect satin, rouge allure velvet - satin matte. I also like the velvet extreme and the ultra tenue . They have very interesting colors, but i spend my life in red and berries :) . For the eyeshadow, i think you would also love the blurry green one. My most used is codes elegantes, but i like gold eyeshadow and baked satins that glide over the lid . :) and my most recent fave is a chanel ombre stylo, a chunky eyeliner in khaki that is the most beautiful greeny brownish color. All their eyeliner Formulas are great, so pick the colors love. ( the one red that i love over the lid for me is eros, so they do know colors). What can i say , i love their makeup, the colors are always interesting.
Mel Thompson used to love the old formula of Chanel bronzer and when the new formulation came out she did a detailed review/comparison and she was super disappointed with the new formula.
the water tint is the first chanel thing i bought and it’s amazing. it makes me look like i have naturally perfect skin. like a filter over it. without looking makeupy at all
I finally broke out of my 20 yrs of Estée Lauder double wear long wear make up after tryin* literally EVERY long wear luxury make up on the market. I finally this year tried Chanel ultra le teint all day comfort flawless foundation. I think I finally found it!! Would love to hear your thoughts on this new formulation.
I agree I like the tint, but not the blushes. The eye shadow is ok, but I always supplement from other palettes. The blushes are the worst. Not only is the color off, but once applied it does not stay put.
This video is soo helpful I’ve been tempted to dip my toe in Channel now I’ve got all the info I need!!! Off subject but I want to add a foundation stick to my makeup collection Tom Ford vs Westman Atelier?!?!?!
They're coming out with blushes in the water tint formula this year. Would love to hear your thoughts! The double sided liquid lips (pigment one side, gloss on the other) are enjoyable for me fyi.
I mean, I have no inside info but that's the impression I got from a Canadian TH-camr (Allison Chase). She seems to think they'll be coming to North America? She is very up on Chanel, so I was rolling with it. Or maybe she was planning on getting them another way...idk. Fingers crossed I guess?
For a more true mauve color story, check out warm memories quad, it’s 3 mauves in different tones and finishes and a gorgeous peach gold pearl shade. It’s stunning 😍
The video was very interesting. Ive only tried the Chanel Soleil Tan Bronzer from Chanel, and its my MOST favorite bronzer in the world. Haven’t tried anything else from the line, very curious about Chanel’s full coverage foundation options, but not sure about diving in to those yet.
Also, the Les Beiges line was a summer launch (I believe). That is why that line leans warm. If you want a “bronzer” with the sticks, no°20 is a perfect “bronzer.” Another favorite of mine is no°23. I think context matters when it comes to the creation of certain products. They launch certain collections for specific times of year. Also, a lot of olive & yellow skin tones are the norm in that area. Just my thoughts :)
I own the cream bronzer and fresh water tint and I love both of them! Edit: My cream bronzer was from before it was reformulated. I'm not sure about the new version. Also I use the fresh water tint as a primer or as the only thing on no make up days. It has enough coverage to even my face out and makes my skin look healthy. I do prefer a light to med coverage so it might not work as foundation for people looking for coverage.
The ultra le teint foundation and the healthy glow foundation are two of my favorite foundations I own. I also like the Les Bieges Lip Balms. I also have a limited edition eye quad eye shadow thats awesome.
I feel like you always manage to pull stuff together even when you don’t like it! I can’t deal with the fragrance in Chanel stuff, but very curious about the water tint. The best thing I’ve tried is the eyeshadow/liner khol sticks that you can smudge out and get a really nice smoke from.
I've been wanting a new cream bronzer....I just added the Chanel one to my basket at Ulta, so we will see if I end up buying it tomorrow (I have ADHD and have horrible impulse control, so I only allow myself to make purchases after 24 hours of considering it) 🤔🤔
I think you’d like the baume essential, in sculpting (highlight) the bronze one and the pink one. Try these not the blush sticks. I love the chanel concealer.
My daughter is almost 4 now and still scratches me accidentally all the time lol. Idk if he's old enough for nail clippers (I bit my daughters nails off when she was an infant, which actually worked really well and was recommended to me by a lot of people so sorry if it sounds weird lol) but the baby Frida nail clippers are AMAZING if you're in need of a pair. They have this peephole so you can really see what you're doing and they look like regular nail clippers but they actually work in like a scissoring motion. They're called like the snipper clippers or something and they're a godsend for me. I've never nicked her or cut them too close, which is why I switched over bc I was clipping her nails once with regular ones and she jerked and I snipped the tip of her finger and cried for a week... I've even held them against the tip of my fingers and tried to cut them and cant. Okay, random rant over 😂
Chanel does complexion and lip products well. I do love the Fresh Water Tint and their tinted moisturizer from Les Beiges collection. Also where is your top from? Love the print.
Hey, I understand if you don’t want to buy more Chanel lol. But we have a similar level of fairness and undertones. I’ve found mixing the Chanel illuminator (watery version of glow list by auric) in the tan shade “sunkissed” with the fairest shade of the water fresh tint makes the shade awesome
They did reformulate the bronzing cream a couple of years ago. I’m not quite as fair as you and I’ve tried the original one years ago when they only had the one shade and it never really worked for me. I found it way too peachy on my skin tone and I prefer a much more neutral to cool toned bronzer. I also have thee water tint and it is beautiful. I use a darker shade in the summer to give my skin a no makeup healthy glow and it never looks too much or too dark so you can definitely go a shade up easily
Thank you for your videos, they are very helpful! From what I've seen in online reviews, the Blurry Mauve palette is not as well received as other palettes by Chanel. Some of the palettes with the best reviews are Tisse Rivoli, Tisse Vendome, Modern Glamour, and Warm Memories. In the Blurry series, Blurry Green and Blurry Grey are beautiful and worth looking at. Again, thank you for your reviews!
Lol my niece is in the exact same phase and we had to redo the Christmas tree about three times a day this year because she would yank off all the baubles and hand them out to people 😂
Would love to see another Chanel video with the products you did like and other stuff you like to see how it looks. You saved me $ as I always wanted the bronzer but felt like the colors were too orange. Hope they make other shades because the formula sounds awesome. Still want to try the number 20 blush stick. With the quads it seems like there are usually more demure and similar tones but for the everyday I do like them. Have some on my WL but since the pandemic, I am working from home for a few more months. Trying not to buy anything that’s not super special or LE in the meantime. Granted, I said trying lol
I never tried the previous Soleil Tan de Chanel, but I do like the current formula. I am learning it’s too orange for me now that you’re teaching me about undertones, lol. Lisa Eldridge got me into the Vitalumiere Aqua foundation, and I adore that formula.
My son is 8 months old, and I get you. I file his nails every couple days and he has me all clawed up cause he’s in a stage where he uses our clothes or body to pull himself up to stand and watch tv or just hang out. Babies have brute strength. It’s nuts
Okay so I think the main issue is that the bronzer and blush seem to clash and I don’t mean in color….I can’t put my finger on it - I want to say…consistency? Finish? I agree with you about the blush being flat.
I use the Chanel Les Beiges Water Tint over the Inbeauty face glaze and they look amazing together. I'm over 50 and have dry, sensitive skin, and rosacea.
Hi Kackie, did you see the lighter shade of the bronzer? How does that look? Anyone else have experience with it? Edit: sorry i just saw what you said about it! Jumped the gun too quick lol
It's a shame you weren't able to get shades that worked for you. I don't know what the lighting was in your particular Ulta, but I've found that swatching in-store isn't always successful-particularly with regards to base products. Sometimes a product can look right swatched in stores and be wrong at home (and occasionally the opposite). I also wonder sometimes if in-store testers are affected by air exposure? Like they oxidize? Once I was swatching some Laura Mercier tinted moisturizers and the lightest cool shade in one of the formulas swatched much darker than shades that were more than one level deeper and both darker and more orange than the equivalent shade in a different formula. On a different day (and possibly a different store), I tried it again and it swatched true to the description. Don't get me wrong: I love having testers. I find it a real barrier to buying a product if I can't swatch it first. But I wish there were more air-tight tester packs with more shades and in a wider range. I haven't seen the Lisa Eldridge foundation sample cards, but that seems like the right direction. Especially since we are living in such strange times. And many people don't live close enough to stores to swatch. That bronzing cream does have a nice amount of product! I wonder how quickly it expires because a good price per ounce doesn't mean as much if you can't get through the product before it expires. I feel like sometimes the consumer has to dig too much for that information-or they won't know until they have the product in their hands.
Apparently Chanel is now at ulta as far as some skin care and cosmetics. I remember when way back in early 2000s they were in Sephora. I looked at colors on the ulta app and the foundation shades were underwhelming. The lippies seemed nice but I can probably get those colors a lot of other places. Chanel seems over hyped and there’s so much more out there - high end, mid range, drug store - that attracts me more. Currently trying to do a no buy for cosmetics and clothes because 2020 and 2021 I basically bought to cope with the dumpster fire that was my personal life and with Covid. Nothing from Chanel is persuading me to break this no buy thankfully.
I still have the original bronzing cream and love it. I won’t buy the new one as my skin doesn’t get on with coconut oil. I’ve been using the Fresh Water Tint since it came out. I like it alone with concealer or as a primer. I find it comfortable and hydrating. I like the Les Beiges Healthy Glow but prefer Surratt’s Dew Drop foundation. OMG! Those Glow Sticks, imho, are the pits. The colors just don’t look good on human skin and they remain sticky. When the blurry quads came out, I opted for the blurry green and have never regretted it. I do like most of their lip products. Their prices are crazy. But, when you buy Chanel you are buying a true luxury brand. You are paying for the name. Yes, they do sometimes knock it out of the park. But, I’ve absolutely learned to check what I already own before I purchase. Thank you for your review. Totally enjoyed it.
I really *love* the Water-Fresh Tint paired with the Hourglass Veil Retouching Fluid! It's the perfect low-makeup look for me. I've since started using the Chantecaille Future Skin Cushion Foundation and Just Skin TM but I'm really considering picking up another Water Fresh Tint. Otherwise, I've been disappointed by Chanel over the years. I used to love many more of their products but the new collections have been disappointing. The cream blushes are AWFUL. I also hate the Baume Essential (so sticky!). The old formula powder blushes are beautiful and I've hoarded quite a few. I used to go hard on their Cassis colored eyeliner but I've since switched to Charlotte Tilbury. I really miss loving Chanel! EDIT: the bronzing cream has been reformulated! The new one has coconut oil in it. When Chanel released two shades, it was reformulated.
If you had to choose one, which would you choose: Lisa Eldridge or Chanel Healthy Glow? I want to treat myself to a nice new liquid foundation but I'm trying not to buy too many things at one time. Thanks! :)
Ok yeah, when I saw the blush in the stick it looked like it had dimension…but then you swatched it and put it on and it is totally a highlighter. I feel like blush shades like that only work if they are SUPER sheer. Weird weird weird. I really like the eyeshadow though.
It’s 5 a.m. and I’m trying my very best to not laugh about the blush. I’ve loved blush forever because it reminds me of how my skin looked when I’d spent the day riding my bike or swimming at the lake sans sunscreen. But there’s a learning curve. And, let’s just say I was entering the curve way too fast when I was about 16. So. Many. Mornings. So. Many. My mom is at the door with tissues in hand to try and wipe off the disaster of bright red Mary Kay blush I had applied with a very heavy hand (really just a couple of fingers). Of course, I learned to put it in my purse and put it back on. (Deliberate. Don’t tell HJP, please.) …when I arrived at school.
I've never tried Chanel, probably never will, TBH. That said, they did have (IMO, at least) a couple of interesting products back in the day. One's called the Illusion D'Ombre. Well, okay, it still exists but only in three colours. But there used to be waaaaay more available. It's a cream eyeshadow pot with a lot of sparkle. The other was a limited edition blush in a shade called Notorious (came out in the early or mid 2010s?), which in the pot was a greyish purple, but on some skintones it worked very well as a contour.
I've used the Water Fresh Tint up, but I won't repurchase, mostly due to the price. I have the Chanel Bronzing Cream, but I'm just not satisfied with the application. I'm currently searching for something different. Chanel is kind of hit or miss with me.
So, I am not sure of the backstory on how Chanel ended up at Ulta? But it seems you did get some older and not popular products. The completion products are definitely a love!! The bronzers are a love, and I have both colors as the lighter color can be a miss depending on season and foundation, and the darker color is newer. But, the blush sticks have been a pass for years and the Blurry Mauve Quad? Definitely not Mauve and also older. I at times move away from Chanel just as a change of pace, but always gravitate back for quality. I, like your mom, always went for the make-over and bought the collection!! Stock has been low and sketchy at Saks and Neiman's so not really sure what is going on with the brand? But happy the brand can now be purchased at Ulta as I do love the brand!!
The water tint burned when I applied it. I really liked how it looked and how it wore but unfortunately I'm not willing to endure intense burning sensation for it. I do use a retinoid and acids and I would totally understand if this is due to my skin being sensitized but my skin is used to my retinoid, my skin doesnt burn when I use acids and no other cosmetic product has ever burned when applied. I looked into the ingredients and the only thing I found that might be the culprit is there are 3 different perfuming ingredients. I've never heard anyone else having this experience and I've scoured reviews both on youtube, social media and websites that sell it and not one other person I could find had the same experience. I ended up giving it to my mom and it works great for her, no burning.
Mel Thompson (RIP💔) did a video trying the new formula of the Chanel bronzer and was pissed about how they killed her favorite Chanel product. Apparently the old formula was leaps and bounds superior.
I know this has nothing to do with this video and I am sorry. I just found your channel and just found thrive cosmetics. I watched all the ones from it seems 3 years ago. Do you still like them? I want to see before I go all in.
I believe they reformulated the iconic cream bronzer and its nothing like it was. It makes zero sense why they did it other than a cheaper formulation or a ingredient supply issue.
I personally use the Water Tint on its own. It’s buildable to medium coverage using a tapping/pressing motion with the brush (or any dense brush). If you want a step below, put the product on the back of the hand and use the brush provided to swipe along the face. I don’t like using my fingers for this product. I’ve never layered it with other foundations seeing that it is water based but I’m sure if you let it dry down completely, it could work. When it comes to using cream and liquid mediums together I would allow the liquid to set & dry FIRST. Then apply the cream. If your using the same mediums, they will blend easily together. Using different mediums, you’re asking for blotchiness. I think people don’t realize that Chanel is a French house. They cater to their demographic and the French do a more natural face of makeup. Hence why the blush sticks aren’t what you’re expecting. The Chanel makeup brand is perfect for those who like natural, sheer, dewy, no makeup-makeup looks. They’re bold with their shadows and lipsticks but still keep the face simple. The brand is also older so their buyer is typically late 30’s and up. Less is more. That is the “French way.”
I wish Chanel would not reformulate their best products. Their powder blushes were amazing and they just redid them and they are POOP. Sorry to be shouty but I’m clearly not over it. 🤬
I think the colours are just really off on you. The bronzer is way too red, which might also be throwing off the blush. It’s easy to get colours wrong when you’re under shop lights which are quite yellow!
Girl….we mothers understand these phases…just wait until you take him to daycare some day and another kid bites him because it’s a phase. No real harm was done but you can be sure that I cried my heart out and was determined to hold the kid’s parents responsible ;). And then there was the time when he grabbed at my curling iron that was on. I thought it was out of his reach….but no….
When you start listing some of the products you tried and I’m like… But they reformulated that and ruined it (the bronzer). And they reformulated THAT and ruined it (the blush).
Whenever I hear Chanel Beauty, I only think of their lipsticks to be honest. I always feel like this is a brand that's a bit too "old" for me or too expensive for what it is. Which incidently isn't how I feel about Dior strangely. But both have been disappointing since I discovered "younger" brands like Charlotte Tilbury for example. They don't speak to the same audience I guess.
Chanel took 100 years to come out with a 2nd shade of their bronzer and it's light enough to work on light skin. 🤨 Not that I expect any better of Chanel.

The double sided liquid lips (pigment one side, gloss on the other) are enjoyable for me fyi.
awesome! thank you!!
Ohh I’ve heard that the blushes in the water fresh tint were released last year as an Asia exclusive? Are they coming to the US this year??!!
He’s ADORABLE!! ❤️
For a more true mauve color story, check out warm memories quad, it’s 3 mauves in different tones and finishes and a gorgeous peach gold pearl shade. It’s stunning 😍
I love your giraffe blouse! Where did you get it from?
I am loving this application of base makeup. Going to give it a shot today.
DayQuil Shopping for the win 🙌🏻. Thanks for the valuable information
Their highlighter stick is my favorite of all time! Agree, blush fades too quickly. Adore the water teint on its own with a brush!
Would never spend that much on Makeup, but here for Kackie!
Perfect timing with them coming to ulta!
This was really helpful, especially for the eyeshadow quads!
Hey, I understand if you don’t want to buy more Chanel lol. But we have a similar level of fairness and undertones. I’ve found mixing the Chanel illuminator (watery version of glow list by auric) in the tan shade “sunkissed” with the fairest shade of the water fresh tint makes the shade awesome
awesome! thank you!
@@kackie yw! Thanks for the awesome content! love your reviews and chaotic energy
Lol my niece is in the exact same phase and we had to redo the Christmas tree about three times a day this year because she would yank off all the baubles and hand them out to people 😂
my niece is also at that stage and let me tell you when it was Halloween & she got to hand out candy to other kids; she was thrilled for a week after
Would love to see another Chanel video with the products you did like and other stuff you like to see how it looks.
Magnetic cabinet locks. 10/10 would recommend. (We left about three drawers open to satisfy the “open-up-and-dump-it-out” urge.)
I never tried the previous Soleil Tan de Chanel, but I do like the current formula. I am learning it’s too orange for me now that you’re teaching me about undertones, lol. Lisa Eldridge got me into the Vitalumiere Aqua foundation, and I adore that formula.
I love Chanel’s sheer balmy lipstick, Coco flash I think is their name.
Not sure if you’re interested (or have already tried it), but the Chanel Ombré Premiere Longwear Cream Shadow in “Patine Bronze” is pretty legit.

Kackie: what do I look like?!
Me: A PRETZEL 🥨
Kackie, an intellectual: A woodland creature.
My son is 8 months old, and I get you. I file his nails every couple days and he has me all clawed up cause he’s in a stage where he uses our clothes or body to pull himself up to stand and watch tv or just hang out. Babies have brute strength. It’s nuts
We call him Baby Hercules
Okay so I think the main issue is that the bronzer and blush seem to clash and I don’t mean in color….I can’t put my finger on it - I want to say…consistency? Finish? I agree with you about the blush being flat.
I loved the eyeshadow look on u❤️
Motherhood can seriously be a violent act
YEAH.
The one sock🤣 I’ve never related to a more mom thing in my life
It's a shame you weren't able to get shades that worked for you.
Magpie enticing. Perfect.
I just signed onto Ulta today and Chanel popped up on the homepage.
KACKIE! I do theatre for a living and your comment about makeup being seen by the checking cashing place around the corner and in DECEASED 😂
Oh, thanks for the coconut oil warning!
If you had to choose one, which would you choose: Lisa Eldridge or Chanel Healthy Glow? I want to treat myself to a nice new liquid foundation but I'm trying not to buy too many things at one time. Thanks! :)
I think it’s just more about coverage! The Chanel has probably 15% more coverage.
Available online at Ulta as of today, the powder blushes by CHANEL would suit you better. CHANEL is my favorite brand.
Yes the bronzer was reformulated and the general consensus is the old one was better.
I don’t know what mad sorcery baby fingernails are, but yes…they are sharp no matter how well or by what method you groom them 🤪
Yes! I can get ready for work w you! 😃☕️💄💅🏻💃🏼
I've never seen Chanel at Ulta. My wallet is grateful.
I just saw news that more of their stuff is coming into ulta too!
I like how you are clearly enunciating in rage through clenched teeth in the second half of the video 😂 Sorry that it was all so expensive and weird.
Is the Fenty body sauce a self tanner?
No it's a liquid highlighter/bronzer
SIMON IS SO CUTE!!!
Would love to see that water tint without foundation
The only Chanel product I own is the Illusion D’ombre eyeshadow in new moon and I am so in love with it! ❤️❤️❤️
I cannot find that anywhere! I've been told it's a supply chain issue for a while now. 😩
When you start listing some of the products you tried and I’m like…
But they reformulated that and ruined it (the bronzer).
Chanel foundations that end in 0 are neutral. B20 would be perfect for you
Yur so cute
Chanel took 100 years to come out with a 2nd shade of their bronzer and it's light enough to work on light skin. 🤨 Not that I expect any better of Chanel.
