I ordered one of these to the UK direct from Barber - such a good pedal, I can't imagine not using it now. It works just as well being a more "more" in to an amp that's on the edge or already driving a little bit (but with headroom) - so for me that's a TMDR on 5 or more, with or without added Lightspeed. A really well thought-out pedal.
Happy birthday to Elodie! "40 Mile Town" is one of my top few EJ songs. Lovely tones from the Plus! I like the Barber drive tones; I have a Small Fry clone that I picked up during the pandemic (when used Barber prices went through the roof) and I enjoy playing through it. It's in front my HX or ToneX or S-Gear, just to try to make my tone a bit more potentially unique. -Tom
Super unique device. It's almost like a boost EQ filter. The bottom line is it makes the voice of the instrument come through in the mix. I was very impressed with it.
The JHS Haunting Mids pedal is conceptually similar, but complementary in that it lets you control the mids, rather than the two sides (lows, highs) that the Plus targets.
@@joeriffanucci I don't have it, but the description at JHSPedals is pretty clear; it's a boost pedal with a semiparametric mid EQ: "The controls on the Haunting Mids are Volume, Mids, Sweep, and a Lo/Hi toggle. The Volume acts as a standard volume control to be able to set at unison or boost the signal. The Mids and Sweep controls work very closely together so you can find the perfect frequencies to boost or scoop mid frequencies." Whether it has "gain" depends on whether you are using the term the way an audio engineer does (just plain amplification) or the way it's used on a drive pedal (where "gain" is sometimes used for the knob that controls the amount of distortion). It's not a distortion pedal, though perhaps it does distort noticeably on its own at high Volume settings.
@ Yes that’s what I interpreted it as. I think the Plus is a bit different. I used it for several weeks before public release and was impressed. It really shines stacked with low to medium drive pedals.
Happy birthday to Elodie, I hope I get her name right , in France it's used Elody and means "song" or "melody" . It's a beautiful name and if I get it right I think your missus is a singer , so it makes sense that a singer and a musician give to the world their best song , I wish all the hapiness and love in the world to Elodie and her loved ones .
I've had both of these on my board for about a month now and really enjoy the combo. I've used stacking for quite some time now, mainly with an odr1 stacked with a revolving mix of other pedals trying to find the one that works best with the odr. The approach Keith and David used to come up with this combo has struck on what my ears were looking for in all the various combinations I was previously experimenting with. This does not suprise me as my favorite low gain pedal of all time is a Barber LTD SR I've had for probably 20 yrs now. Looking forward to hearing how you get along with the combo in an actual gigging situation John.
That miked amp sounds incredible in stereo especially at the low gain Barber Plus pedal only part starting around 10:54. Hmm new miking technique perhaps? Lol (It's the 57 and royer but using the royer to do Mid Side stereo with the 57 as the Mid mic)
Really nice! Thoughtful explanations too. Brings the rawer Gigging Cordy sound home to Demo Cordy! Both are terrific, and very enjoyable - but quite different.
I switched from a multiple drive setup to typically a single drive. Currently it’s the Wampler tumnus and I’m using to push gain and volume. So maxed out on the guitar there’s quite of bit of volume and gain, but I’m riding that all night long. It seems to be a bit of a more dynamic setup rather than having “preset” sounds like a rhythm and lead.

Great stuff! Hanging with Dave while he explained and played through the pedal was a very enlightening experience. Appreciate the shout out!
Awesome. Barber has been making great pedals for so long now. I'm glad he's still doing amazing work. Btw, happy birthday to your daughter!
BUSS + PLUS is an epic combo. I was never really into "pedal stacking" until I found these two pedals. They are just made for one another.
Completely agree. Magic stack
You’re sounding very nice man , keep it up!

@ I still haven’t tried that one yet. Does the JHS add gain also?

@@caesarsrevenge8945 if you’re looking for a great odr stack I have two to try. Odr into mostortion(or clone) and JanRay(or other Tim etc) into ODR.

Curious about Buss into Plus...
Nice Demo.
*makes video sounding exactly like 100% of all of his other videos*
Yeah there’s a real familiar “I gotta feed my 2yrs old” vibe about these vids! What a monster.
100% of his other videos? Then why are you watching all of then?

I respect consistency.

This pedal shaves your sound from beautifull clean to an angry ZZ-top sound! 😱
Don’t you have enough pedals ? Gas is an addiction
...is there something wrong with the pedal?........oh it's the shitty PRS.....
