    It's late 2017 and this speaker is still an incredible little thing compared to everything in it's class. The fact that it takes D batteries is actually a benefit because it's one less component to go bad and it guarantees years of longevity. I purchased 2 brand new for $150 each in 2016 and I have no regrets.

    Mine will arrive in a few hours. I received 8 NiMH batteries yesterday and they are freshly charged. I cannot wait. Klipsch makes wonderful products. I already have the first music in mind. Amazingly it comes from You Tube. I swear it sounds like a Lossless format. The better the equipment the more important the quality of the recording/format becomes. Shortfalls in these areas become magnified with good equipment. Thanks for the video review it was well done.

    I use to have this speaker in my university dorm room, it was a GEM of a speaker because of how amazing the bass was. Really supplied a lot of music for many good times, I miss it : (

    I talked to Klipsch about the lack of lithium battery in the KMC 3, they said that they toyed with the idea but it would have increased the price of the unit by about $150 retail. Unfortunate, but understandable...I pulled the trigger on it, because I loved my RoomGroove that recently died and I really trust the brand as they have replaced every device I have had to use their warranty on, no questions asked!
    If a lithium option is a necessity, there are always the KMC1 and GIG, if you are willing to sacrifice the overall sound. If portability and price are less important, and sound quality is at the top of your checklist, check out their "Stadium"...seriously that thing is sick! That $2k price point though...
    I really could not recommend the brand more, but I may recommend waiting for a gen 2 to come out as far as this unit goes.

      Oh, most deff. I would have spent the extra on it, I use it so much more than my RoomGroove just because it is so much more versatile. I think even if they put a smaller pack in it that powered it for like 5 hours with the same size/power drivers; maybe make it rugged! How much time do you really need on solid battery power? 26 hours? I can think of maybe one instance where 26 hours of continuous wireless playback would be useful. I would drop like $450-500 on a rugged rechargeable KMC3 all day!

    What you see as the biggest flaw, I see as a huge plus, lithium batteries has a much shorter life than speaker and amplifier, it's easy to install rechargeable D batteries yourself.

    The bass is pretty amazing but at higher volumes there is a noticeable whistling with bass heavy music.

    He made this sound worse than it is! This speaker blows away the competition. Sound is precise and accurate. Bass is a tad heavy but not sloppy whatsoever. I've compared this speaker to just about everything aside from the B&O speaker. This wins every time when it comes to the sound quality in the boom box category. Also failed to mention that it produces huge sound. This actually produces a sound much like the promedia 2.1 speakers. IMO, the only con is the D cells. Otherwise completely worth the money.

    Is the aptX codec the only one available for wireless playback? Bizarre trying to push wireless audio but use such a limited codec and not including a cable. Use aptX but push up the bass, but why.
    I may have access to rechargeable D cells and charger, but that is something not many people have and use. Rechargebles are beast compared to alkalines. I am unfamiliar with Klipsch to know if they inflate their prices or not for branding, but no way $400 for a giant box, boomy audio, and no built in batteries.

    Well I already own the kmc1
    Mmm I have some competition at work
    Kmc1 vs UE mega boom
    Clearly I have the the better speaker and better sound but sometimes I want that pesky UE megaboom to be seriously humiliated, I am looking forward to acquiring one of these

    Hey, I've experienced some 'hissing' sound from the back woofers when some more bass is present in the track. It's pretty annoying - anybody heard that as well? I guess it is because of the air coming through the tiny holes - maybe they should have done them bigger?

    • @ExclusiveMontages
      @ExclusiveMontages 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ok, it's a common issue I've found. But maybe some of you don't experience it on low bass tracks when played louder then ~70% of this speaker power?

    • @MrKillfield
      @MrKillfield 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ExclusiveMontages I have the same problem. The hissing comes with bass heavy songs

      justin knuebel True. The Teufel Boomster which also comes with bass port tunnel has the same whistling problem - although it's much less pronounced.

    Does anyone know if the use of x8 D batteries will decrease the amount of volume the speaker can produce? I read that on battery the speaker only receieves 12 volts, whereas plugged in is 16 volts.

    • @lllllGreenDaylllll
      @lllllGreenDaylllll 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it will. Not much, but it will. You can bypass this by using a 16V-Power Bank.

    Nah! Not for that kind of money.
    I've a pair of Bluedios - closed, laggy for gaming and bass-heavy, but good for the money.

    , once again, Klipsch dropped the ball on features. The Bluetooth speaker market is way to big of a market to do this.
    personally I would just go with Braven, JBL, or Altec Lansing by far.
    not to knock down Klipsch but they're design and lack of features is the problem, not the audio part of it.
    especially for the higher price tag. there's just way to many choices out there with better looks, better features, and better or equil sound for the money.
    Klipsch needs a new design team and new approach to they're Bluetooth speaker market.
    now take their powered speaker monitors, top notch and the best value and best sounding powered speakers on the market bar none !!!!!!!!
    I own a pair with the massive wireless subwoofer. the sound is clear and very powerful.
    and has a built in phono preamp as well.
    Klipsch, take those ideas and apply them to your Bluetooth speaker department and you will do much better. the problem is not the Quality of your sound, it's design & features of your Bluetooth speakers wear you are lacking. CMon guys, get it together. I know you can redesign your Bluetooth speakers for the better, just do it. think outside the box, I know that's such a cliche but really.
    I love your products but damn.

    Whao, the moment I saw it needs to insert 8 D batteries to make this speaker portable, I just stopped watching the video and moved on. What are they thinking, all thoses space underneath can just be used to put in a lithium ion rechargeable battery pack! I love HardwareCanucks nothing wrong with ur video. But that 8 D batteries design is a deal killer, didn't even bother listening to the sound quality.

    • @Starcraft2Union
      @Starcraft2Union 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Built-in Lithium Ion Batteries and recharge it using a USB cable? Like a lot cell phones' batteries are built-in and cannot be taken out.

    • @Starcraft2Union
      @Starcraft2Union 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dude, of course Lithium Ion batteries will degrade overtime, then just make the lithium Ion battery replaceable. As a matter of fact any rechargeable batteries would degrade over number of charges anyway (rechargeable D batteries included). But you are missing the point. I am talking about "Convenience of use" here. With this thing being marketed as "portable" and at such high price point, as a potential buyer would expect the product to be more "portable" and offers convenience of use. ie. I can bring this product along to any wall socket or usb outlet and charge it. In addition to that, they could have implement into the design with a hide-away space for tugging in the usb charging cable too!

    Would not buy.... To make it worth it I think they need to add a rechargable battery pack that could be swapped out for those D batteries if you need it charged quick, swap out the bluetooth to a built in wifi network (even my camera has this so that cant be too hard to do....) which would allow for much more compatability as essentially all you need is something that can connect to a wireless device, even if some app or widget is required (mabye keep bluetooth too). I'd also like to see some kind of balance toggle and more control in general so the user can target what ranges they want as the control system is just too limited (this seems to, stupidly enough, be the normal for $400+ speaker systems, all about the style and highly limited function).
    This just makes it not the money, besides the bass its just a $60 bluetooth speaker you could get from your local electronics store... And even then those things are allright.

    No customer support what so ever. I've been waiting on a replacement for a dead tweeter on a RF-42 II for over a month now. On hold for one of their "reps" right now. Been over 20 minutes on hold waiting. Klipsch has became a cheap Chinese manufactured product. You can get so much better speakers for the money. Not to mention companies that actually care about their customers!
