Im so glad you reviewed this deck. I had been on and off the fence with it for so long. I was torn over the artwork (very fashion mag to me) and finally decided to take the plunge and buy it. Once it arrived I was left scratching my head a bit at some of the image choices and it left me wondering "is it just me or...." and I did wonder if I had made a boob! Watching your review reassured me that it isnt just me and that some of the book meanings arent visually expressed in the cards. With that said, I do feel that this deck really speaks loudly when reading for internal issues especially dependency/empowerment or traumatic experience . Ive had the deck some time now and multiple readings later it seems the deck asks you to be open minded and to be ready for a changed perspective. Although I still dont feel ready to read for others apart from friends with this deck, it is a compelling deck and I find myself reaching for it often. It appears that the amount of time and effort you pay this deck with rewards you in kind. My experience has been that its focus of Akashic records or collective unconscious is extremely apt as with each reading a 'data bank' develops enabling further insight beyond the images and book meanings themselves. Id say its worth a punt if you can find a trade or cheaper version to trial and definitely worth the patience and time if you buy a copy. I continue to draw from this deck and I really feel it has a definite 'purpose' in a readers collection. Thank you for yet another fantastic review Kelly xx
I’m so happy you commented about the book not matching the cards, and I can’t. Believe she’s done that a THIRD time!!! I love the energy and look of the cards so much, but the meanings being so unmatched drives me bananas!!!! Thanks for another wonderful, honest review😘
It's funny how our tastes can change over time. I bought the borderless Akashic edition a few years' ago as I loved how pretty it was. However, I sold it a few months' ago because I'd come to feel it was "too" pretty. I just didn't connect with it anymore. Another great walkthrough, thank you ❤️
I have been off and on with this deck. I watched your review and think it is a deck that I would work well with it. Thank you so much Kelly for this great review.
I agree with you about the guide book not relating to the images within the deck, but there is something about the deck that has a beauty of its own, like a.magnet that draws me to it because of its otherworldly feel. A deck to sit with meditate and allow it to talk, independent of the guidebook! You also mentioned about having to buy all the editions to get the cards you love. Totally agree would be good to have the choice as it can get so expensive!
Your insight was interesting. Thanks for taking the time to make this video. I bought the (original bordered) Starchild Akashic, intending to use it for some Akashic Record work. (I studied Akashic Record readings and was interested in incorporating Tarot into it.) But this deck just didn't resonate energetically with the way I wanted to use it, so I traded the deck. It's a lovely deck -- I just didn't feel like it worked for me in the manner I intended it for. Hope that makes sense. Thank you for your video and your thoughts! 💖
Ha ha ha, liked what you said about the Wheel of Fortune, "it might be that I am old." Me too! Several of these cards although beautiful don't say tarot to me and/or are just too magazine layout for me. But gosh are they pretty!!! I keep looking at walkthroughs of this deck in its various iterations because I keep wondering if I want it now. But no. I like looking at it however. :) If pink or purple are your favorite colors then this deck is for you!
oh and I didn't mean to only comment negatively though, this is one of my favorite decks aesthetically. I'm so considering buying it but I don't know! something is holding me back
I agree, the reason why I haven't gotten the new deck is only because of the Lovers card. There is a lack of connection with the couple, it did not resonate with me at all. But besides that, everything else is great. I've been waiting for her to release the original deck again so I can finally get that but she's been delaying its release.
Moonchild__03 Erica Hello!! A pip deck is a deck where the minors, the number cards, are not scenic but often have literal 5 Cups on the card instead of a scene painted out :)
Thank you for sharing - I've been eagerly awaiting your insight into the deck. It's strange cause the feeling I have about this deck still hasn't shifted. I've been interested in it for MONTHS... it was prior to the borderless for sure lol. I'm just wondering if my pull is more to the artwork on a separate level than the deck. I still find myself unsure of how I'd feel reading with it, it seems like a deck that needs to be seen and held before making a decision. I didn't think I'd be way up on the fence still lol. I will look forward to your feedback after use to see how you feel after some more time reading with it
I REALLY want the 1st edition ever since I’ve heard of the starchild tarot, but I do have both akashic versions. I don’t think it’s the same though as having the one I’m most attracted to ☹️
I really want there to be more male figures in this deck. I want to love it and I do love most of the entire feeling of it. It constantly stands out to me as a deck I want to use, but on cards like the Emperor, Hierophant, and Hermit, I want that masculine energy. Tarot is about duality and I believe it is quite ignorant to remove male presence and off-write this duality. It would not be okay to remove women from certain cards, either (Empress, The World, The Star, etc.). However, I'm still heavily leaning toward buying this deck :)
Kelly, this is off subject, but one of my Pinterest Boards is all about Lenormand decks, & one of my newest pins is all about a deck called the Moonshadow Lenormand. It's on etsy I think. Have you heard of it ?
Pretty deck but not for me. I prefer The Tarot of the Sevenfold Mystery, Morgan-Greer Tarot, Hanson-Roberts Tarot and the Thoth Tarot the best so far. I like when the person creating the deck actually takes the time to draw and paint their expressions out. Photo Manipulation can look amazing - I have THE WIZARD'S TAROT which I really like a lot and is done beautifully but it still is not the same as the ones where the artist took the time to create each one. It gives a certain energy to the tarot when the artist pours his/her soul in the artwork.
I still like certain decks which are photo shopped. Art is art and photo-shop has its place. I have been working on creating my deck -- given each painting is 40"x 30" for the Majors so it is taking me quite sometime to research, get in touch with my deep feelings and bringing those out to the canvas. Not something slapped together quickly to make a product to sell. Same with the Oracle Deck which is in its last stages and will be out soon. Look at Druid Craft for example...how beautiful is that deck! One can clearly see that the artist took a while to manifest it. We as Tarot lovers are sensitive to ENERGIES and that is that certain something absent in photo shopped decks. IMHO of course.
My all time favorite is Morgan-Greer Tarot! Bought from Laurie Cabot's daughter's shop in Salem, Massachusetts - so it holds a special place in my heart. I also have the Hanson-Roberts Tarot - lovely and easy to use.
Very feminine. Thats not necessarily a bad thing but it just doesn't resonate with me. I need a much more balanced deck. And that Emperor is totally a lioness. Not down with that, nope. But I'm happy for the people who have found the StarChild and made it their own.

I agree, now I'm thinking about passing it on, because I don't like it when the book meanings don't match the image

I have also been on and off with it but there is something about it that is compelling in some way!!
totally agree with you, that is a strange lovers card

I agree, there is something here and one I'm going to continue to work with! :)
Pretty colors and imagery! Thanks!
Ive been wanting this deck for over a year and i finally ordered it!
Congratulations!! I hope you get much enjoyment out of it!!! :D

the lovers is absolutely my least favorite, I truly believe HORRIBLE. it's so strange, wish I could change that one
oh and I didn't mean to only comment negatively though, this is one of my favorite decks aesthetically. I'm so considering buying it but I don't know! something is holding me back
Definitely a few that aren’t quite there, the Moonchild ended up being everything for me!

And I second that, please do a pip deck, Danielle.
Hi Kelly what’s a pip deck?? I’m a newbie love your videos ✨✨

Cosmic Creeper's Tube did this deck work for yu? Ugh so on the fence lol
Now I am in love with it. I have resisted but...I like it a lot and want to get it somehow. Although it'll be tricky.
Yes back and forth with this deck! Will it resonate when I get it. And it's expensive! Sigh just don't know

=D cant wait to play with mine.

You've just expressed what it was that bugged me about the Night Sun deck. Thanks for clarifying that for me

Yes, I am also a fan of Hanson-Roberts Tarot. The zoomed in look is what I like because we can see the expression on the faces better.

Agree. I like the color scheme though.
