Funny thing is, I'm from Kansas, and I'd always look at the old map in the back of my Social Studies class in 3rd grade, and I would always notice Ashley Kansas on the map, but never have I driven through ashley.
That voice acting for the characters though... And the yelling... and the insane woman... and the cop... and the telephone part... and everything else... and the parts when he said *sobs* or *cries*... things liek that... and the creepy ending of the fucking phone call... and the creepy ending of the video itself...
What Cry says: Ashley, Kansas What I hear: Ashley...................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... Kansas
;_; *heavy sobbing* Your voice acting makes me cry, cry. I bet that's why you're named cry. Your voice acting.... So good it brought me to tears. Why must you torture me so!?!?
Cry your voice acting is outstanding! I can't even begin to express how awesome you are. Your voice acting really did set the whole creepy vibe. Good job, mate :)
Same I have heard of him but never watched him then I saw that he voice acted in an animation on Cartoon Hangover so I checked him out. I can truthfully say I am not disappointed.
i fell asleep while on the cry reads playlist (because cry's voice is so soothing) and i woke up and i realized that i've never heard this one story, i was confused because i thought i've watched/knew all cry reads. this story was terrifying. cry mentioned gore, blood, dying family members, he even detailed about crushing bones. the story was so, so so, creepily detailed. so i took off my earphone. but the story was in my ear, still ringing and continuing, i was at the point where i wanted to cry and i kept scratching my ears, covering them with my hands, burying my head in my pillow but no attempts make any effort. then, i woke up to this cry reads. it was all a dream. it was freaky.
What the... Thats Creepy man O.o I Had a dream, more like a nightmare, about the beginning of the game, "Alice: The Madness Returns" And it was the EXACT same! I woke up that morning, watched someones playthrough, and was horrified. I couldn't get it out of my head...
well its read as a police report so its taken from the perspective of the police phone operator and the recording and that's the written report and they detail the noise in the background
+ifox foxuel are you sure? I think I saw them between the flaming fields of eternal torture and that cave that holds a creature that rips the legs off anything that moves. kinda hard to tell since it sounds like the rest of hell. eternal screaming, sounds of torture and agony. but it's there I swear.
Vinny Harrington Oh, that's cute. You know... There are a lot of... How can I tell you... There are a lot of "realms". And the Hell isn't one of them. So, it's complicated and I don't know how to explain it to you... Or to anyone. So... I guess that we should leave it like this, don't we?
I think that someone on TH-cam should get a bunch of actors/actresses together (you know just average ones or even people they know) and make some live-action horror skits based off of sme of these Creepy Pasta shorts! "I've come to terms with," "Obsession," "She found her way into our home," "I'm outside your bedroom window" and maybe "Autopilot"
I have always enjoyed the sound of your voice, and I mean that in the least creepiest way possible, that's a sincere, completely platonic compliment to you.Your voice acting in these stories is amazing and I really enjoy listening to them. I quite often sift through r/nosleep and the like but find listening to you read them is more suspenseful and alive than my inner-voice ever could. Please keep doing these
I have been looking this story for so long!!! Thank youuuuuu! :D And also, i love the way you tell the stories. You have such a captivating voice :) Awesome work!
Is it weird that this is my favorite story he has done because it relaxes me? Granted, foster screaming still gives me chills, but this has such a great audio track and is so easy to visualize. Great job Cry.
I live in hays kansas and 12 miles south of town there is infact a fissure, just about 6 miles north of munjor not that large but it is about 1000 yards long with a river flowing through.
My first time watching this video, i legitimately thought this was real and that Ashley, Kansas was a real place because it seems pretty convincing. After some research, I couldnt find anything except a bad quality picture of destroyed houses and large cracks in the ground(a fissure). Now im really glad its fictional because this read is one of my favorites and one of the most chilling( mostly at the end)
Here's what I think happened, at sometime between the beginning of August and the first call to the police department, Ashely Kansas slipped into a pocket universe, the only thing linking the town back to its origin universe were the phones, probably because someone was in contact with the police department *as* the town slipped into the pocket, this established a tether between the two. Now notice how events proceed, the ever growing fire, fulminating at the first earthquake, the one that opened the fissure, the fissure *is* Ashely Kansas, after the growing fire filled the small pocket universe and destroyed the town completely. The , at first, small black thing in the sky that grew, was probably what pulled the town into the pocket. And the second earthquake, the one that that closed the fissure permanently, was the remains of the town being pulled back into the pocket. This is a rather tidy explanation, because you can do a lot with parallel universes, like make dead children be not dead, and giant all consuming fires, and other weird shit.
It all happened after Kansas was in the pocket, there are a plethora of possible answers, considering the pocket doesn't play by the same rules as our own universe does.
That's so funny, I was thinking that it totally reminded me of The Monsters are Due on Maple Street where all the people in this little town go against one another because some scary shit is happening and they kill each other. One of my favorites.
Fun fact, there really was an Ashley, Kansas! But it never had 600 people, it was not near Hays, and it was not destroyed by an earthquake. It was also known as Greenwood Station and was a railroad station on the Frisco railroad just east of Severy, Kansas.
I don't know why, but when I use good headphones with this, as soon as cry starts reading, i get goosebumps and start tearing up. :') so many feels. Love your ambiance you put on the stories, keep it up.
This story is amazing, your presentation of this story is amazing, I've listen to two read throughs so far and I am hooked. Cry, your voice if pure silk and flawless, continue these read throughs; you have a real gift.
Kitten2 I'm going through these and listening to them again, but I probably should not be watching these at 10 pm. Alone. In the dark. Fuck. Welp, just turned the lamp on. That's a little better.
Grievous MacAdam :) Nice one. I should try that sometime except, there's no lamp in my room and the light switch is across the room sooo.... maybe not.
This is by FAR my favorite cry reads. It's so good, the sound for the phone calls, the woman, the screaming, the crying, the child voices, just the emotion of it all! It's amazing. He is amazing at this, I wouldn't be surprised if cry became a voice actor when he's older. He's so good at this. I could listen to him talk all day!
This is my new favorite horror narrator. He doesn't just read the stories and and music and effects, he acts it out. You can hear the emotions. Fear. Anger. Tears. Insanity.
Good reading, and good choice in Pasta. What could be improved however is the Phonecall sections. Instead of reading out the transcript like "Begin Phonecall" or "Muffled static", include the soundeffects. You went the mile to put a filter on the phone sections, but to do that and not get one of your female friends or viewers or fellow youtubers to play the female on the phone or include sound effects for static is just...rips you right out of the experience when combined with the extra filter for the phonecall part.
It was a clever name the author chose for this fictional town. There's a few ghost towns in Kansas with 'Ash' in their name, but none were disestablished during the year suggested in the story. (Ash Valley, Ash Point, Asherville)
I feel that this is the best of Cry Reads. They are all really good, but This one made me stand on edge and hush my breathing. I didn't want to breath during the woman's phone call. Well done!!
I just continue to not believe in paranormal. I mean if they exist why would they come after me? "I'M GOING TO MAKE YOU BELIEVE." What if I don't want to?
+Mythical Reid Thanks, you actually might be the only person that's kept to themselves. You sir are also entitled to your opinion. What is weird is that even though I don't believe I have a fascination with the paranormal.
Thanks mate :) I think everyone does, in a way. I mean we see so many different representations of the paranormal, it makes you question if it's real and if it is how it is portrayed.
Funny thing is, I'm from Kansas, and I'd always look at the old map in the back of my Social Studies class in 3rd grade, and I would always notice Ashley Kansas on the map, but never have I driven through ashley.
Same. It must be really small or some shit like that

"Glass Break's"
well its read as a police report so its taken from the perspective of the police phone operator and the recording and that's the written report and they detail the noise in the background
who else thinks a portal to hell opened, transported the town to hell, and now they all suffer for all eternity?
That was exactly my line of thought
That was exactly my line of thought

I have an extreme headache and your voice is really helping-
It' so soothing, even if you're reading a horribly creepy story!
I think that someone on TH-cam should get a bunch of actors/actresses together (you know just average ones or even people they know) and make some live-action horror skits based off of sme of these Creepy Pasta shorts! Yes, and I don't care.
its like wanting Morgan Freeman's voice
He has that effect on people :D
simply, amazing. the emotion you put in to this is outstanding. i could listen to your voice all day....even if you are reading creepy stories.

And also, i love the way you tell the stories. You have such a captivating voice :)
Awesome work!
No matter what play through I'm on with cry. I always fall asleep listening to his exciting yet soothing voice!
that music put a awesome creepy edge to it. I love it. it actually made me look out my window just in case.
Is it weird that this is my favorite story he has done because it relaxes me? Granted, foster screaming still gives me chills, but this has such a great audio track and is so easy to visualize. Great job Cry.

One of my favorite stories. Every time I go to the "Cry Reads" playlist, I always listen to him read this one. Cry, you're an amazing voice actor!

and now....the weather
Cry, seriously, you need to do all kinds of audiobooks and the kind! You truly are the most amazing reader I have ever heard
What amazes me is that some people believe this but the same people believe a zombie apocalypse could never happen -.- hmmmm....
I'm not sure whether I believe this story or not. However, I plan for a zombie apocalypse full time~!
Zombie apocalypse is bound to happen
Yes it is. Infection spreads, the dead awaken, and the world goes to hell. My defence? A Railroad Spike! :D
To be fair... There is no town of Ashley, Kansas on Google Maps...
Exactly. It disappeared.
That acting. CRY! You should become a blind actor (A actor without being seen) because just, man, this is just awesome. And your voice, just amazing.
Does it bother anyone else that he puts such a long pause between "Ashley" and "Kansas" lolol :'D I love cry
I come back to these every now and then. Always a good time.
This reminds me greatly of a Twilight Zone episode...
*Gasp* Which one? I used to love that show!
It's not spot on or anything, but it gives me the same feeling that the episode 'It's a Good Life' gave me.
***** The one where the sun doesn't come up? It's just dark outside and they kill the prisoner?
I think this is like some EPIC zombie story!
That's so funny, I was thinking that it totally reminded me of The Monsters are Due on Maple Street where all the people in this little town go against one another because some scary shit is happening and they kill each other. One of my favorites.

I have now decided that Ashley, Kansas is where the book "The Darkness on The Edge of Town" by Brian Keene takes place.

my mind just kept going, aliens???
it sounded like it's either an alien abduction or revenge from the underworld kind of story
Yeeeeessss me too!
Iv lived my entire life in Kansas and we have never had an earthquake or have I felt one... We're in the middle of a continental Plate.....
Isn't it you get a lot of earthquakes and stuff if you're on a plate boundary?
yea, its caused by continental plates sliding under each other.

What the fuck Kansas
This is why you don't fuck with the paranormal or supernatural.
Exactly!......
I just continue to not believe in paranormal. I mean if they exist why would they come after me? "I'M GOING TO MAKE YOU BELIEVE." What if I don't want to?
Your entitled to your own opinion. I'm not going to force you to believe in the paranormal or supernatural. It's your choice man
+Mythical Reid Thanks, you actually might be the only person that's kept to themselves. You sir are also entitled to your opinion. What is weird is that even though I don't believe I have a fascination with the paranormal.
Thanks mate :) I think everyone does, in a way. I mean we see so many different representations of the paranormal, it makes you question if it's real and if it is how it is portrayed.
I was watching this and my door slammed shut by itself I'm paranoid as heck right now.
Run!
Enjoy!
DIP NIGGA DIP.

+Cap'nCorgi surprisingly, the writer has never listened to Welcome to Night Vale. (I'm trying to convince him, though, since it's all very Lovecraft).
