      Barry Parsons Thank you, Barry! We've got a few more tutorials in the works - one on using Adobe Premiere Pro, one on a DSLR camera, and one on the theory of sound recording.

    Watched many tutorials yours is the best. Uncluttered thorough clear not at all pretentious just a good clear easy to understand tutorial. So. Helpful. Thank you. I need to see if you have one on using the camera in manual mode
    Could you say if there’s any benefits to using manual focus while in auto mode.

    Great video, well done. Applies to the GY-HM200 mostly too.

    Very thorough: an excellent tutorial, I could use the camcorder straight away after watching that. Other TH-cam users should take a leaf out of your book. I hope you do lots more. (I'm looking to buy two more camcorders, and can't make up my mind just yet.) Thank you very much.

      Thank you SpookyXL5 - it's very encouraging to here you found this video useful. We are doing a series of videos on the media production kit that our project provides to a group of universities in Wales - so far we have one other video on a camera - the Canon Legria Mini (th-cam.com/video/ROh96VOjXYs/w-d-xo.html) - but that's probably too basic for your needs. We've just finished filming our next instalment in the series, which is an introduction to all the sound kit we have. When that's edited, we'll be looking at our DSLR camera. Good luck with your camcorder purchasing!

    I am borrowing a JVC 3ccd from school to do a project but the audio levels will not pop up on the viewfinder. i have the built in mic set to auto but my plug in mic on manual. is there just something that needs to be flipped in settings? I recorded a clip and listened to it, there is audio but i want to be able to adjust it.
    Can anyone help?

      Get a proper computer and editing suite - Apple computer and final cut pro at least something that can handle professional video.

    This is a very nice presentation and first time I see a menu like the one at left. Did you make it through TH-cam? Many should do like you did when having long videos.

    • @cadarnlearningportal
      @cadarnlearningportal  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Denis - thanks for your message. The on-screen menu was made using TH-cam's annotations - it's a really useful function and the best way to deal with a long video like this, I think!

    We're heading into the studio this week to start filming our next kit video. This one's about the CADARN sound recording equipment, and it's another biggie. It's going to look a bit different from our last two videos, but the format is staying the same. Here are our previous kit videos:

    For anyone buying beyond 2020 then don't; It’s a CCD sensor which is vastly inferior to today's CMOS sensors.

      @girmonsproductions 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well, you might be on right on that, but what if I like the old school ccd rendition, there is something vintage about the ccd chips.

    • @MatthewLum11
      @MatthewLum11 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@girmonsproductions I agree. Most people I know buy prosumer video cameras for their portability.
      This means they are likely shooting video with a lot of motion and action, which CMOS is very ill-suited for with its "rolling shutter" issues. If you can find a prosumer 3CCD video camera, keep it. 🏆
