    I have had one of those knives for several years and am very happy with it. Mine had a black coating that I sanded off down to bare metal. I then used a Dremel tool to make a 90 degree spine with an edge sharp enough to throw really good sparks. I made a pouch style leather form-fitted sheath for it with not only a belt loop but also a dangler system that double snaps over my belt. It is always with me when I'm in the woods, canoeing or hunting. Semper Fi, brother.

    I have had mine three years or so and it's my go-to knife. The lanyard hole is also a bullet puller for .22/.223/5.56 to allow access to gun powder for fire making. I had to round out the jimping as it is aggressive, and you can strike a fero rod on the spine near the tip. I love it. Thanks for showing it.

    What I like about you videos, is not just the content or the approach, but your comfort of use with everything you use. You can clearly see you know your stuff which gives me a lot more confidence as a novice learner. Appreciate what you do. Next step, time to learn Instagram! Lol

    Hey Black Scout, I have had the black BOB for almost a year and love it. One tip though, you can you the back of the knife tip for fire starting as well. It showers sparks with no problem. I changed out the mag bar that came with it but overall it works like a champ.

    I've got one of those on loan. It's not a bad knife but it doesn't really stand out for me. I've tested it against a Terava Jaakarripuukko and there Puukko just trounces it in hand feel and cutting ability.

    I know this video is very old and you will likely never read this, but omg thank you! Sooo much for holding the knife properly when using the firesteel notch. I watch many videos on this knife and everyone was holding it like as if they had never held a knife or used a striker before. I was absolutely dumbfounded. And im not talking gear channel noobs either. People that have been doing this for years and years.. i seriously couldn't believe it.

    Hello. I think it has a good design, the length, width and thickness of the blade are suitable, the material of the handle is very good. Perhaps the only weak point is that it is made of simple carbon steel and is not resistant to rust and oxidation.

    Ergonomics are its strong point. The bow drill divots are are selling gimmick imo. So is the end scraper, in a pinch ok normally I use something other than a knife as a pivot for bow drilling. Keep it "wet" with oil though, it will certainly rust.

    Good review and demonstration but I laughed at “97°” and drenched in sweat. That’s a cool day in beautiful West Texas typically in the summertime it’s 102+. Other than that I known one of these with the black coating and I use it on my professional duty kit and comes in handy when doing SERE training.

    • @BlackScoutSurvival
      @BlackScoutSurvival  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not with our humidity. Your 102 is like low 70s

      BlackScoutSurvival what stake are you in?

    • @BlackScoutSurvival
      @BlackScoutSurvival  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Columbia SC. Google it. It’s known as “famously hot”. We are in a bowl and one of the hottest places on east coast. Because of our humidity and lack of breeze

    • @carsonmartin4435
      @carsonmartin4435 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      BlackScoutSurvival I genuinely didn’t take humidity into account. I can’t stand humidity I’d prefer my dry west texas heat any day, we live in a basin so it gets really hot out here in the summer but really cold in the winter we don’t have a spring or fall it’s either excessively hot or really cold. Great reviews and videos by the way I’m truly enjoying your content!

    Will the handles hold up to continuous use as a bow drill bearing, or are they intended for emergency use only? Seems like the micarta might get damaged with a lot of use.
