I see you a lot under Blackpink reaction videos haha. I assume form your videos you're from Colombia, I think you need to find a way to lobby YG Entertainment and get them to South American countries. I heard they're going to Mexico, but I know there are sizeable fanbases that exist in Brazil, Argentina, Peru, Venezuela, Chile. Like even KBS Music bank hosted a show to 44,000 people in Chile! And JYP had a random play dance held in Brazil that literally 500-750 people turned up. I don't understand what's taking so long for YGE to bring Blackpink to more South American countries.
@@jfprizzy local producer/promoter. Technically, YGE has no branch or office in each country to be able to hold their own. In our country at least 2 company I know who had to bid for them to handle their concert who has the money.
BP MVs are way beyond kpop. That’s why they are so famous. People get blown away by the multiple play of lightings and colors. Together with the beautiful visuals of the members, chorography moves, and these incredible music, it’s always so mersmerising to watch over and over again. That’s why their MVs can go beyond billion viewship. They are way way ahead of the global competition.
How you like that, a very significant and representative title of the color, essence and power of Blackpink, for me who has been in the kpop world for years since the first generations... this comeback was very impressive and very important for the kpop industry, The impact was so great that it was not for nothing that it had many world records... the lyrics, the dance, the outfits, the sets, the colors, the presence and personality of each one of them, the performances, the voices, the story... Honestly it was the definitive M/V, I can't see another video like this until this time.
A little background: *HOW YOU LIKE THAT* is about coming back from a dark place stronger than before. There are many Greek references in the video, a few examples are: The winged statue in the temple represents Nike, Goddess of Victory. Rosé (silver hair), in the beginning, is portraying Persephone, Goddess of Vegetation (plants, flowers) and the daughter of Zeus. One day while she was out gathering flowers, Hades, God of the Underworld, abducted her and dragged her down to the Underworld where she was forced to become his wife. The video shows her in her beautiful image, surrounded by flowers, as well as how she became, dirty and grey, staring up at the world through a hole in the Underworld. She was eventually allowed to return to the surface for part of the year, which is why we have Spring and Summer. Jennie (maroon dress) under the umbrellas is surrounded by dancers, their hands are "spiders", crawling over her face. Directly after this, under the burning umbrellas (they're rotating too, by the way), Jisoo is seated in a chair that is spiderlike in its design. The Trojan Horses at the end are a message from BLACKPINK to the world. They symbolize the fact that BLACKPINK, like the Greeks, will emerge and take over the global music world. If you look at the last scene you will notice that on the inside of the dome it looks like there's an organic growth over parts of the ceiling. It's actually a map of the world that the group is going to dominate.
Came here to say this! I would also recommend watching Jolly's video reaction to How You Like That (th-cam.com/video/EcJJcEkAMbY/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=JOLLY) in which they present a breakdown from a Classics scholar (one of their sisters) and she goes into even more depth, mainly: - The spider imagery in Jennie's umbrella scene might also be linked to Jisoo's following scene (with the flames), representing Ovid's telling of Arachne and the goddess Minerva, which is how Arachne went from being an insanely talent (human) weaver to a spider - and this might also be a commentary on the wave of suicides that had just happened in the K-Pop scene that year prior to HYLT coming out. - Lisa is scene with birds in her first rap, then wearing a falconry glove, and there are further references to birds and the sky in the lyrics later in the song, which could be interpreted as a reference to Fama, Zeus's winged messenger (although this brings us into a different pantheon). I still can't unsee any of these when watching the HYLT video! How fascinating!
BLACKPINK will be the headlining artist at COACHELLA 2023, they will be the first kpop act to headline COACHELLA in its entire history, they will also be the first girl group to headline the festival, and they will be the first Asian act to headline the festival in its entire history.
Love the reactions from a filmmaker point of view which is often overlooked, as a huge NF fan you should do a (live?👀) reaction on his new song called "Hope" dropping tomorrow 5 PM UTC! :D
You may have also noticed the multiple references and symbolism from Greek Mythology. BP are goddesses after all...There's a hint there that no matter how beautifully shot something is, it can be empty unless there is a strong theme or storyline attached... There are also a number of themes that run through all the BP MVs...rain, fire, ice, flowers, tropical gardens, umbrellas, temples, ruined cities... There's a lot of careful production design going on, Korean MVs are never just pick and shoot something...they train filmmakers exceptionally well there...
4:37 You talking about a dedicated team of light techs running this part made me remember something. It’s a bit of a story, so I get it if people don’t want too read it all. Years ago I was at an As I Lay Dying show (yeah, not even the same as Black Pink). This was my third time seeing them and their lighting tech remembered me from the year before because I had just had an ankle surgery. I was on crutches and in a walking boot, but I couldn’t put weight on my foot. He noticed I was struggling to stand (this was 2 hours into the show), so he offered me his bar stool and he stood the rest of the show. When I saw them again the following year, the light tech remembered me. He let me hang with him while he ran the lights for AILD. I was more impressed by how he manually ran the light board than I was watching the band. If I can recover the files on my old hard drive, I’ll post the video I took. It’s one of the most amazing things I’ve watched at a metal show. Dude was head banging and windmilling his hair better than most people at the show…all while being on point with the lighting. Anyways, love your reactions Brother. I showed my son your NF Clouds reaction. He’s a huge NF fan (got me into him too). He had no idea there was a behind the scenes video of Nate walking the road while the cars were driving past him.
Coincidentally you mentioned Bladerunner 2049. This video was shot with 3 Arri Alexa (also used in Bladerunner) their typical scene is shot with all 3 running…one is hand held, one on a track, one on a robotic rig (or on an actuated crane depending on the height needed) like you talked about. Great reaction! Note there is a “making of” video for this MV for some interesting behinds the scenes stuff that you would appreciate.
Blackpink doesn't use greenscreen (except once in Whistle and once in Shut Down for a few seconds), or CGI all of their sets are practical so you can imagine how expensive the mvs are to make, lol. Definitely check out Kill This Love or Pink Venom by Blackpink. Some interesting set pieces in there for sure.
been a fan of NF for a long time, recently I've been listening to the "new" falling in reverse... and just a few days ago I started listening to Blackpink so youtube aligned the stars and recommended your videos hah
