Great response to what you were seeing and hearing. Amazing isn't it? I have made this comment before but would like to share it with you. Two personalities, Celine & Andrea, Female and male sounds precisely executed, in two languages - neither one is his native language which is Tagalog. I have a theory: Marcelito, is, of course, gifted with an unbelievably beautiful voice, but it is his BRAIN that can MEMORIZE exactly what he HEARS and his marvelous voice allows him to recreate it PRECISELY, even female voices, minute inflections in other singer's voices, and in accurate pronunciation of foreign languages. That strange thing that he does with his mouth after the song is because the Sound Engineers were teasing him about having a 'female voice' so he was 'removing' it. Marcelito is humble with a great sense of humor and a charming stage presence. Well, enough - I thought you might enjoy some insight into this gifted singer.

He joined Americas Got Talent but didn't win the grand prize, unfortunately. Other Filipino men can sing this way too. I heard there used to be a singing contest on TV called Doble Kara & they would all have dual voices. What's great about these Filipino singers is that they are untrained. They're self-taught. Most of them come from impoverished backgrounds. Marcelito was at one time working as a fisherman or farmer, I don't remember exactly, & was living in the streets when he was a child. Start with I Want to Know What Love Is (backed up by Coral Black to Black) - shows off his vocal range, that will astound you. Dan Vasc. Mostly a metal singer, but delves into mainstream. Start with Gethsemane, from J.C. Superstar. His performance has fans calling for him to be cast as Jesus in a new Broadway revival of the musical. He would be outstanding.

Marcelito takes this song to yet another level in the release of his album, "Duet Yourself". Since it is a tracked recording, he includes all of the harmonies where Bocelli and Dion sing together in harmony. Marcelito has an amazing voice, but so far he is only mimicking very closely the songs of other artists. He needs to find his own voice and show that to us.
He's a bit of a "miracle" considering his childhood. Father incarcerated, mother runs off with new man and deserts him and his sibling when he was two years old. He was eventually adopted by a loving family but at age seven he decided to run away to look for his real family and had to fend for himself on the streets. He found odd jobs (from age 7!) and would pass the time singing while working and soon discovered his talent. Other than that...pretty normal childhood. Yikes!

Let's see...heard you mentioned Dimash but haven't reacted to his idol who has been performing for over 3 decades and is often mentioned in the same breath as Whitney, Celine & Mariah - the one and only Lara Fabian! Lara is a big fan of Barbra Streisand and visa versa. Lara has written lyrics in English, French, Italian & Spanish, sings in 12 languages, speaks fluently in 5 (not quite sure -maybe 4 might even be 6). Father Belgium, mother Sicilian lived in Sicily till 5 then to Belgium and at 19 moved to Canada to embark on her dream. In 2000 a PBS Televised concert entitled "From Lara with Love" was to be her big coming out party (but was dashed by politic within her record label).
