    I think you need more oil on this machine. There should be a drop or two on all the linkages. I would like to thank you for treating this sewing machine as an actual *machine* when you restored it. You didn’t sandblast the precision gears and connections, and you didn’t get paint in all the threads and linkages. As a sewing machine lover, I cannot tell you how much I appreciate that. I saw that some gave you tips on which way to turn the wheel and how to set the timing. We’re you ever able to get it to sew?

    Very nice work! There are some very specific things that must be adjusted to get it to sew. Back in 1979 I got a job repairing sewing machines at a Singer store. The very first one I worked on was a singer similar to that one. There is some very specific settings that are required for the needle shaft. Singers had timing marks on the shafts. Others did not, like that one. There are probably measurements for distance down at bottom and 1/4” up from therefor the hook position beside the needle. In order to get the thread to pull up, you must get the upper string installed, get it to go around the shuttle, and the arm on the side to quickly pull it up. I think your tension spring behind the tension discs needs to be wound one or two complete turns around the shaft. You just stuck it on.
    Best wishes, Kev8n

      Thank you very much dear Kevin for your explanations and suggestions. Yes, it seems that it takes a lot of adjustment and some expertise to operate the machine correctly.

    • @KevinCoop1
      @KevinCoop1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Restomaniac One more thing. I believe you are turning it backward in the video. To make sure, put some material under presser foot, move stitch regulator down for longer forward motion and turn the wheel. Must turn correct direction.

    • @victorlombardo2396
      @victorlombardo2396 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Restomaniac I agree with you, I think that the sewing machine doesn’t work just because he is turning the hand wheel backwards. I restored a Singer 27K, which is almost the same machine and he seems to have done well all the other adjustments, so it seems the reasonable cause.

      I did a Singer from 1902 and all it needed was the tension, and the other thing was I don't think anybpdy had oiled it since 1902!

    Cool to see. I have a late 1800’s, hank crank. Seems to be a “Domestic.” It’s a joy to see them restored. Mine is “with the man” right now getting a do-over. It seems you have a timing issue. It can be re-timed. Also, the hand wheel turns counter-clockwise…toward you, in other words. One more thing, the needle may be in wrong. It matters. Nice job!! 😊

    From what I could see, you must thread the cotton from the top and through the needle, and pull a good bit of it through. Then turn slowly, when the needle goes down into the machine it will take the cotton and loop it over the lower spool ( inside machine ) then from the top you can pull the upper cotton out and it should bring up the lower thread. A bit like lassoing it, you’ve done a wonderful job there and I hope this helps .

    You haven't reset the 'timing' for the machine (like the timing on a car engine) that's why the thread is not being picked up on the bottom from the shuttle. Something you can research on TH-cam how to do this.......

    A restauracao ficou maravilhosa. Vale a pena recuperar uma peca dessa tao rara e que nos ajuda a contar a história das coisas. Confesso que foi a primeira vez que eu vi uma máquina de costura dessas com esse tipo de bobina. O mecanismo de encher a bobina me fez lembrar as antigas rocas de fiar. Muito bonita. Acho que nessa época era bem difícil costurar com ela. Um abraco.

    Someone might have already commented this, and it may not fix your take-up problem for the bobbin thread, but when you were attempting to sew you were turning the wheel in the wrong direction. The wheel should turn over and towards you, not away (if you were facing the wheel-end of the machine, it would be turning anticlockwise/counterclockwise).
    If the machine had a hand-crank attached (it looks like it’s supposed to) then you would turn the hand-crank clockwise (away from you, like you’re doing in the video to the wheel) which would then turn the wheel anti-clockwise as it’s supposed to.

    Précision, ma deuxième machine Singer N°27 , le vilebrequin n'étant pas bloqué, j'ai nettoyé les pièces, graissé comme un malade! Et remonté sans problème ( mais je ne me suis pas risqué à démonter le vilebrequin !)
    Merci pour la vidéo, cordialement lainé jean-Pierre

    The top thread will pull up the bottom thread. Then you will need to time it to make proper stitches probably.

    Bonjour. Merci pour votre vidéo.
    A 6mn53 secondes, vous présentez l'ensemble des pièces que vous avez démonté.
    Mais, comment extraire le vilebrequin ?
    Il y a un secret ? Une astuce de démontage ?
    Mon vilebrequin est bloqué, et malgré les litres de dégrippant, pour l'instant, impossible de le démonter.
    Précision, j'ai la même machine que vous ! Singer 27

      Cela fait longtemps, je ne m'en souviens plus très bien, mais peut-être que je n'ai pas pu non plus retirer le vilebrequin 😊 En fait, il devrait pouvoir sortir facilement.

    Couldn't get it up? The bottom thread, that is. Probably needs a simple adjustment.

      Probably, it's an easily solvable problem for sewing masters :)

      Yes, I think that was the main problem getting the bobbin thread to the top.

    Bom trabalho, parabéns, você não conseguiu costurar com a máquina porque você está girando o volante dela para o lado errado, gire ele para o outro lado que você vai conseguir costurar, eu tenho uma máquina quase idêntica a essa porém é da marca Singer, espero ter ajudado

    Beautiful! But, the bobbin wasn't threaded in the shuttle correctly; hence, not being able to sew.
