I think a big problem is that parents are so desensitized to PG movies that are essentially glorified G-rated movies that only get a PG-rating because of one or two toilet jokes essentially assuming every modern movie with a PG-rating treats it’s audiences like babies who can’t handle anything. When PG literally means “parental guidance”.
Yup, because that's how people talk. If someone hits their thumb with a hammer, they don't go completely silent and say "well it really hurts when you hit your thumb with a hammer".

Then again, I do feel the amount of curses being used has gone up, especially after last year was the first time an F bomb was dropped in one of these Marvel movies. -No curse in a kids movie will ever top the "shit!" in the original Transformers animated movie. @@Yes_im.a-lordpeacock Okay? So your justifying your opinion that it IS for kids because a random one-off airline considers it a kids movie? That isn't exactly supporting your opinion.
The into the spider-verse films aren't even that violent bro, and "constant death" is an overexaggeration. Not to mention it has nothing to do with the live-action movies. Those are made by Disney, the Into the Spider-Verse movies are made by Sony Animation, have no major swears, and barely any blood. Not to mention that ratings exist for a reason. Both Spider-verse films are rated PG which stands for "Parental Guidance", meaning it's safe for kids, but not young children. The Disney Marvel movies are PG13, which means it's safe for kids 13 or older. PG13 movies are allowed a single F-bomb per movie before it's considered R, it's just not used super often.
When a movie or show has the balls to do something different and out of the comfort zone, I think that's a good sign. That's part of why I enjoy Puss n' Boots 2 so much.
Agreed, personally i don't see why people don't want their kids to watch movies that have substituted or real curse words. Like, them kids are gon' see it someday.
Yes, in those days, the general consensus was that you died if you went and stood before the King uninvited. The Island of Perpetual Tickling was indeed that substitute.
Actually, the Island of Perpetual Tickling was a substitute for the death sentence. Since that VeggieTales movie was based off the story of Esther, in the original story, when the assassins were outed and exposed, they were sentenced to death.
Given the context of the word ass, Shrek was talking about Donkey since a male donkey is literally known as a jackass. When Shrek said, "I have to save my ass," in this context he was technically saying, "I have to save my donkey," even though ass is considered a curse word. Still, I think since we saw Shrek and Fiona save Donkey right after Shrek said that line, it's heavily implied that Dreamworks was letting that one slide given the context it was being used in.
I wonder if people realize you can technically say the word shit, uncensored, in a PG rated film, animated or not. It's the strongest swear word you can use before you're veering into PG-13 territory
I have to disagree on the point you made with VeggieTales. They weren’t substituting Hell for The Island of Perpetual Tickling. It was meant to substitute the plot of Haman to exterminate the Jews because Mordecai wouldn’t bow to him. Then when the king realized he’d been tricked he had Haman executed. The story had nothing to do with Hell…
Yeah a terrible example. His whole point doesn't make sense, not only because it is not founded in what the scene is actually saying, but because Veggietales is and always has been satire and not meant to be taken seriously.
As a catholic Ur right it didn’t have anything to do with hell if they were they would say it Like hell is a bad place like yeah they don’t wimp out on the word hell

For the veggietales example, the island of perpetual tickling wasn't a substitute for hell. In the real story, Haman is hanged at the end. The island was a substitute for death by hanging. I think that justifies it a lot more.
The brand new Trolls movie caught me off guard. There was more than a few cuss words. They also had a lot of drug references too, and I was dying laughing! Really surprised me.
As an Australian curse/swear words never really ever get my attention but I definitely have noticed more of them popping up in movies, honestly though it does make the movie more realistic as if any of us were in these situations im sure we would be swearing a lot the only thing is for movies targeted towards children yes I understand that its not appropriate to have them in there but for any thing pg rated who cares anymore like its pg for a reason. I get that everyone has different opinions and its up to each parent/ person to decide what’s appropriate for them and/ or their child
My only issue with it is for the parents that want to guard their children from it, there's no warning. PG used to mean there were certain boundaries that won't be crossed. It's fine to change the rules, but to do so without telling those who depend on those boundaries isn't the answer in my opinion. Even with the parent being around, there's almost no way for a parent to know a word will be said until it's said. It makes it hard to judge what will be appropriate for their child. If a child sees a character they love say something, it wilm be easy for them to adopt it in their own language. I personally wouldn't be bothered by it. But i dont have kids. I can understand how a parent wouldn't want their child exposed to certain things so for them, it would be nice if ratings were adjusted for this new trend.
It's probably because people are starting to understand that no matter how hard you try to keep them from learning it, your child will still cuss you out without knowing what it means, or with full intent behind it
“Hell” and “damned” were used once in the movie Incredibles 2. And we almost heard Lucius Best blurt out the F word, but was cut mid sentence before cutting to another shot.
@@brycecarroll9665Hell is not a slur. It depends on if you’re talking about the place or not. Yes I know I sound child-ish for saying this but it’s true. Now for damned, I have no idea. But “Hell” is not a slur unless you use it as one.
One I remember from even before Shrek was a "Damn!" uttered in Secret of NIMH (1982). Though given the G rating, there was a good amount of intense scenes and a touch of blood that could have upped it to PG, which kind of overshadowed the single word.
This wasn't in any Disney movie, but in the 2006 Nickelodeon film "Barnyard", Sam Elliot's character covers a Tom Petty song and he literally sings "you can stand me up at the gates of hell, but I won't back down." Given that that's how the song was originally sung, it seems warranted.
It’s funny because when I was watching Across The Spider-Verse in theaters, I was thinking to myself “Wow, I haven’t heard this much cursing in a PG movie since Shrek”.
There is actually a LOT more swearing in TMNT: Mutant Mayhem then is discussed here. In the first act, Superfly does swear at least 3 times with words that are not "hell", and that kids DEFIANTLY shouldn't hear.
When I watched Mutant Mayhem I was shocked when there were two characters that had their eye scratched or stabbed out as well as Superfly saying "piss". But I don't understand why some people got upset when he said "hell" during that particular scene. They say "hell" multiple times throughout the movie why was that time so shocking?
The Island of Perpetual Tickling was a replacement for death by hanging, thank you, and tell me a cloaked figure touching you without consent until you die from laughter doesn't sound so much worse (also, peas don't have necks, so hanging would not have worked, which they reference in a later episode.)
where I live, (Brazil) children from the age of 10 and beyond have a huge dictionary of swear words on the tip of their tongues, some can't even hold back in front of their parents or teachers, yeah, Brazil is badass (edit: they also know damn well about s3x)
Did you all know that in the Disney animated classic "Sleeping Beauty", Maleficant actaully said "Hell"? It was when she was about to fight Prince Philip, and before she truned into that huge dragon. And NOBODY even reacted to her saying "Hell".
The reason parents and people don't like moves with the word Hell is because when you use it as an expression, it then becomes a slang word and not what it actually means, same thing with dam I think if you use the word for what it means, then it is not slang
Disney: We refuse to add swearing in our films because of the modern audience.

“..you’re welcome.”
3:00 All I smell is Bull--
Shhhhhhh!
Lol
4:41 I didn’t know it was you at first
Did you know in the beginning toy story was not made for kids it was made for adults to wipe out the fear of moving toys
“Hell” and “damned” were used once in the movie Incredibles 2. And we almost heard Lucius Best blurt out the F word, but was cut mid sentence before cutting to another shot.
Beauty and the beast live action said damned in front of my Mom she toke it very well tho she didn’t get mad
Hell and damned aren't bad words
Yes they are. They’re a form of mild profanity.
Ok but very mild form
@@brycecarroll9665Hell is not a slur. It depends on if you’re talking about the place or not. Yes I know I sound child-ish for saying this but it’s true. Now for damned, I have no idea. But “Hell” is not a slur unless you use it as one.
One I remember from even before Shrek was a "Damn!" uttered in Secret of NIMH (1982). Though given the G rating, there was a good amount of intense scenes and a touch of blood that could have upped it to PG, which kind of overshadowed the single word.
The amount of witty puns that represent swear words that disney uses are hilarious
But DAMN THAT DOG SPITTING VERBAL FIRE-
This wasn't in any Disney movie, but in the 2006 Nickelodeon film "Barnyard", Sam Elliot's character covers a Tom Petty song and he literally sings "you can stand me up at the gates of hell, but I won't back down." Given that that's how the song was originally sung, it seems warranted.
one time on Shrek it also played a song saying "I don't give a damn about my reputation" over and over again.
Miles:Maybe Get Off The Kid's Ahh
Mr. Morales: I'm Sorry What?-
Miles:What What I. I Don't Know
0:08 LOL
Last Wish tops them all. I never heard THAT much cursing in a kids film. If y’all know you know.😏😄😂
Wasn't it censored though?
@@knepperstudios1024 Still counts bruh. The kids don’t know, but we do.😉😂
I can take a hint… 🐈 🤢
So… nobody remembers that Gwen’s dad says “parenting is a big *** mystery”? He literally said it just as clear as shrek did.
Nah I remember lol
Me too
Fun fact, Elemental is a PG in the UK because of the implied use of 'ass'
I found a couple of swearing in DreamWorks' first movie, Antz.
"Stop b*tchin around" - Weaver
"Who the hell is that?" - Z
hell is also a fictional place from a story book that teaches kids morals.
It is not fictional. Read the bible, im a Christian, God bless you

5:21 when was hell a curse word?

Its not rlly but its sort off counted as one
1:50: Well, that proves Sausage Party broke every rule in the book.
We don’t talk about sausage party… 💀
@@Man_Jr._Studios Well, we could, but, not when “there are children present”. (From Coco).
5:20 Then Welcome To The Parent's World Calob, Ay That Sounds Like A Cool Nickname, Calob
I agree with you, Hell is not a bad word. Hell is a terrible place where there is forever regret and torture for one’s crimes on Earth.
It’s funny because when I was watching Across The Spider-Verse in theaters, I was thinking to myself “Wow, I haven’t heard this much cursing in a PG movie since Shrek”.
Also Antz
@@Hollywoodfan-yh4zc Yeah, but at the time I was thinking of Shrek specifically
8:09 Not saying ass is a bad word,
but was NOT expecting that from Shrek!!
He was talking about donkey
Oh wait duh
Yes ass isn’t actually a curse word
Bro I looked back at this comment bro ong
1:06 She said ash BRUH
Fr
Fr that's what I said. I love elemental. ❤
yeah but she meant to say a** , he said in the video “substituting swear words”
Ya
@@cookierun.kingdomloverik but then whats the point of showing it if we all know?
There is actually a LOT more swearing in TMNT: Mutant Mayhem then is discussed here. In the first act, Superfly does swear at least 3 times with words that are not "hell", and that kids DEFIANTLY shouldn't hear.
TMNT said Pissed off too😅
When I watched Mutant Mayhem I was shocked when there were two characters that had their eye scratched or stabbed out as well as Superfly saying "piss". But I don't understand why some people got upset when he said "hell" during that particular scene. They say "hell" multiple times throughout the movie why was that time so shocking?
4:11 full disclaimer here: next gen is rated 12+ on netflix so low profanity should be allowed
5:16 I wonder if those parents ever watched Rango
Disney in 1990 - 2012: Kids Shouldn't hear curse words! Disney in 2013 - 2024: I really dont give a shit anymore.
5:10 bro starts talking about the word ''hell'' the n-word in the backround: 🗿🍷
The Island of Perpetual Tickling was a replacement for death by hanging, thank you, and tell me a cloaked figure touching you without consent until you die from laughter doesn't sound so much worse (also, peas don't have necks, so hanging would not have worked, which they reference in a later episode.)
3:42 Had me laughing😂
Same😂😂
Same
7:10 It depends on HOW you use it. Referring to the place: ok, using it in vain: curse. These are words from a Christian you are reading here.
where I live, (Brazil) children from the age of 10 and beyond have a huge dictionary of swear words on the tip of their tongues, some can't even hold back in front of their parents or teachers, yeah, Brazil is badass
(edit: they also know damn well about s3x)
I think that EVERY MOVIE NEEDS TO HAVE AT LEAST 1 CURSE WORD
She said ash
no shit
Its a swear replacement, it counts
@@cynthiafernandez2372 oh
For real! Noyone disrespect Disney and Pixar’s Elemental
THATS WHAT AM SAYING
Did you all know that in the Disney animated classic "Sleeping Beauty", Maleficant actaully said "Hell"? It was when she was about to fight Prince Philip, and before she truned into that huge dragon. And NOBODY even reacted to her saying "Hell".
2:47 NAH what the fuck is that bro
The Spider-verse one was so unexpected. I never expected to hear an animated Mile Morales to curse. Putting that aside that scene was pretty funny.
The reason parents and people don't like moves with the word Hell is because when you use it as an expression, it then becomes a slang word and not what it actually means, same thing with dam
I think if you use the word for what it means, then it is not slang
