Before starting Sprouht, I worked in a finance job, on my way to earning over $150,000 per year. I quit my banking job, and here are the 3 greatest lessons that I have learned since.

Hi, I am now 71, and retired. I am so glad you are speaking out at a young age to other people your age about doing what you love. I went into banking because my mother was in banking. She instilled in me that you have to have a job, any job. This is depression era thinking. I was unhappy most of my working life, but I supported myself.. I am a creative person, and what I love is cooking, baking, flower arranging, gardening. I did have an antique business the last 15 years until I retired, and that was so fun and creative. We had a great shop! I also sold flowers at a large growing farm in norcal the last twelve years until I retired, and that was a lot closer to who I was.. I tell all the young people I know to follow their passion!

Ok, I'm 53 and I play an instrument for a living. It was all I wanted to do since I was a kid and I was REALLY good at it. I was poor as hell through my 20's, but, long story short, now I'm getting old, I don't regret anything. I never hurt anyone, I've done precisely what I love and have a very comfortable life. I don't have a huge amount of money, but, I have more than enough to be happy. Now I teach young people which feels right, and I love that too. Take a chance, and be yourself, whatever that is, and you'll be happier.

Roughly speaking, we are all afraid of losing something good in return for the unknown, but on the other hand,
if we take a chance, the gain may be greater than our previous successes🌟

People told me, I wish I had the courage you do, to do the unique things you've done, that most will never do. I never let others sway me to their conformist way of life, following the crowd. I always took my own path, never regretted it. Now, I'm 70+ yrs old, living in paradise, far outside my home country the U.S. where I only saw miserable, depressed, angry, bitter people/robots, my 60+ yrs there. Very toxic place for thinkers, that only chase money, and will do ANYTHING to get it!

People dont understand that the prices of things are never going back down. This inflation is deeper than we think. Those buying groceries are well aware that the real inflation is much over 10%. The increments dont match our income, yet certain investors still earn over $365,000 in stocks and assets. Wish I could accomplish that.

    • @leeroy1986
      @leeroy1986 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

@thelifewithnate yes. Each job you learn more about yourself. What you do like, what you don't like.
In your 30s, you do more soul searching, too. To try and find the right life balance for you. Meditation, diet, exercise, family, health, travelling; these make life and work easier.
So, for example, for me I tried: Postie, Man-In-Van, Factory worker, Admin, Customer Service, Education, Hearing Loops, and now Local Government.
I've learned over time that I thought I was a physical physical guy who likes being out and about. In fact, I've learned I love the office environment and solving problems. So, a software engineer role is ideal for me and Local Government I love politics, but having it as a job is different.
However, my true passion is video gaming. So I'm going to explore that further in my free time.
Happiness can only be solved internally, though. Most people I know aren't truly happy until their 50s after a life of experience and learning.
But it's a massive adventure, so enjoy it when you can. I'd always explore new job opportunities every couple of months, though, to see what the market is offering.

It’s extremely exhausting and draining when you feel like you are not going anywhere. I’m getting another job that’s less stressful. But I also think that you don’t necessarily have to be rich to follow your dreams. Also if you are crying every single morning before you head to work….its a good enough sign that you should leave

I believe this is an appropriate place to share a concern that many of us might relate to. It's challenging when those with significantly more experience, such as 15 years, expect the same level of knowledge from someone with only 1.5 years of experience. This often leads to uncomfortable situations where seniors criticize juniors publicly, which can be particularly damaging for those who are sensitive or have had difficult past experiences. This kind of treatment can contribute to feelings of depression and anxiety, making it even harder to perform well at work. It's important for us to foster a supportive and understanding environment for everyone, regardless of their experience level.

well yes, all of this is true ... try to do what you want or dream to do with your life, 100% in agreement, you can also decide not to work all your life and make sure that plan will work, that's what I did, I always loved my job but stopped working at 50 y/o, since then I only enjoy life and I am not rich, I have worked and made enough money as to not be working for the rest of my life, and not more, just what's needed. You won't always be young and in god health condition, at 50 (or even before if you can) you still are. But there is also another thing that you should not miss ... if you have a family and kids ... DON'T miss their youngest age, DON'T put work and job first even though you need to feed your family, there always will be a solution for that, but DO NOT miss the family life you also will only have once in your entire life ... after the age of 50, you will only have left, 10% of the whole time you will have spent with your kids in your entire life ... 10% ! Think about that, don't miss the 90% it will never come back ...

How do you get rid of this money scarcity mentality? Being afraid that you won’t be able to make it bc prices of everything is so high and everyone is just so anxious to be able to get by… I mean I kind of hacked it when I left Toronto (super expensive, everyone has to grind to survive) and went to low cost places like Thailand where I have money saved that can last me a couple of years but I am still scared… bc I grew up having this scarcity mentality and grinding so much in Toronto where people live pay check to paycheck…

Quitting your job without a plan depends on one’s ability to handle the situation and age. I quit my job last year so I could travel freely. I am returning to the workforce with lots of resistance. The job market doesn’t like workers in their 50s. So be it!

Great vid and story. I've had the completely opposite experience to you. I found my dream job while I was still at university and was good at it, but got forced out by an overstepping employer who decided I needed to try something else (in a more corporate position)for her entertainment and self-aggrandizement. Bear in mind she's the same divorcee who insisted subordinates should also get divorced after 10 years, so more cultish control freak than credible source really... 😂 but I digress. It was a great job, scriptwriting for TV where every script is different, characters evolve, come and go, so you're always writing new stories, conversations, perspectives, personalities and social issues, which kept things fresh... for me anyway. This is my 3rd year of unemployment (a riveting contrast, right?) and I'm still waiting to go back to doing exactly what I was doing, as is my right. I guess the moral of the story is you can't force people into a financial crisis (or a manufactured moral one) hoping it'll make them head in a new direction when all they were ever unhappy with at their previous job was the fundamentally flawed boss. You'd think a storyteller would get that, but no... not if the controlling boss is fresh out of Brakpan, circa 1992. Apologies, I'm sure half this rant won't make sense to you, but hold thumbs for me all the same, thanks for inspiring it and best of luck on your fabulous journey! 😁✌️

Of course corporate jobs suck. But society would fall apart would nobody be ready to do them. Corporate culture needs a complete reform, these jobs have to become more humane and employee-friendly. I do hate my corporate job too, I'm a scientist at a big pharma company. Of course I'm a hamster in a wheel, all my colleagues are and we know it, but we are hamsters that produce medications for deadly sick people, thus extending their lifespan by many years. This purpose is not nothing and it is what keeps me going through this hardship. At the end, the ultimate question is: How can I serve society? I always asked myself: In case I get a terrible disease one day, cancer or whatever, would I be grateful that there were doctors and scientists who went to the corporate threadmill every single day in an effort to invent new treatments? Yes I would. I hate the hardship of my job, the overtime, the pressure, etc. - but do I believe in its purpose? Yes. But do I want to retire early? Yes, because my health is already impaired. Do I regret not having followed my dreams? Yes, I wanted to become an olympic swimmer in my youth and then a writer. This topic is so complex. If we all followed our dreams and nobody be ready to do "the grind" - we'd be lost as a society.

“When you don’t know who you are you are easily influenced by others” is an amazing quote and something I think most insecure guys have had to go through at some point; whether it was your situation or like making friends and trying to get peoples attention. If you know who you are you will stop listening to what others want for you and listen to yourself, so by starting to figure out who you really are, you will start to figure out what you really want. Considering all of this, the quote should be changed to: “when you don’t know who you are, people try to make you someone else. and that’s when you will never really figure out your purpose. Instead of seeking advice in others, seek for advice in yourself. You will figure it out and once you do you will figure who you are”.
We all need this kind of philosophy in life, cheers

I got laid off from my corporate job and it was the best that happened to me. Now, I doubled my income and I have more time for myself and my family since Im taking a bit more risk in life. No risk, no glory. With a 9-to-5-job, there are no risks...there is only your 1 income stream every 30 days.
And you only get a 4 hour break (per 24 hours) since you need 8 hours of sleep and the 12 hours are reserved for your job (commuting + 'working 8 hours' = 12 hours). So corporate life = PRISON LIFE.
