    Originality had a different place within artistry back then. The concept's evolved over time. Vaudevillans often did used the same jokes, premises, set ups, at times characters, and it wasn't frowned upon quite the same way it is now.

    Charlie was a friend to Fatty Arbuckle and use the Roll dance to honour his friend who had been destroyed by the studios. They gave up Fatty as a scape goat to protect them against the powerful Christian lobby.

    Hmmm. In that last of with Chaplin without makeup, I am struck by how much he looks like Jon Stewart (or, I guess the other way around).
