The process of installing a pool table is pretty straight forward. We started by putting the frame together. Then after squaring up the frame by measuring diagonals, we laid down the slate starting with the middle piece. Then the slate needs to be flattened and the table needs to be level. We then used bees wax to fill the seams between the pieces of slate. Then can laying down the felt and stretching it. We actually reused the felt that came with the table. Using the old felt required careful stretching of the felt and aligning it with the existing bolt holes already cut into the felt.
We decided to repurpose felt for pool table while kids were going to learn how to play pool. After they learn, we could then refelt the table. All that was left was to bolt on the rails and attach the leather pockets.

Good job
Thanks Timothy! And thx for watching!
Thank you for this video!! I have been watching a lot of videos, and you’re the one who tested it out with a Ball 🎱 did you do the ball test again BEFORE you put the beeswax and felt?
Because of this video I’m confident I’ll finish setting up my table this weekend 😁 I was waiting on my Starrett machinist level, but damn UPS “lost it” so I’m glad I stumbled across your video. 👍🏾

Hey June if the slate is clean you can try to see how close you are. But if your frame and slate are flat, then you’ll be fine doing this at the end where the ball can roll the whole length of the table.
Thx for watch AND SUBBING! Welcome!
What size square did you use also if no beeswax what else can be used?
Bondo car repair filler, but like he and other have said, bondo can chip your slates if ever you need to move the table.
Maybe a dumb question, but how did you keep everything even after taking the shims out?
Hey Rob,
No sure I understand - the floor shims? They stay. Something else??
right after i commented then you said bondo lol yeah you are right when taking it apart and you dont know what your doing yes you could damage the slate
Hey bowe…,
Thx for watching!
car bondo instead of beeswax works better and much faster
Hey bow,
True - but if you need to disassemble, bondo can work TOO well and chip the slate.
Thx for watching!
