A microwave will only cause metal to spark if there's a small gap between pieces of metal, like the tines of a fork.
Microwaving a metal bowl, or a metal spoon in a glass bowl, won't hurt anything. It's just easier to say no metal than to try to explain what can and can't be microwaved on a warning label.

"I always wanted to do this as a kid, but my mom wouldn't let me" famous last words...reminds me of the time Angry Grandpa (RIP) baked chocolate chip cookies for Christmas and he did the same thing you did 😂. The reason your mom wouldn't let you is because pure vanilla extract has a minimum of 35 percent alcohol, the same proof as Captain Morgan rum! Vanilla extract is made by soaking cured vanilla pods in pure alcohol for several days at cool temperatures. The pods are dark brown, nearly black, and this translates into the final color of the vanilla extract.

American houses always look so big, so much space, im jealous

    • @nonnidreams
      @nonnidreams ปีที่แล้ว +1

Well, not everyone has kitchens that big. It’s not only Americans. All who can afford it, and there are different levels of expense, can get a nice, roomy kitchen, almost or like that.
For many years a friend, lived in an apartment that was not as big, as the house in this video, but the kitchen was definitely roomier than her new place, part of a house, she rents. Both are newer kitchens, aesthetically pleasing designs, but it was mainly the layout of the living room area been part of it, that also helped.
And open concept, not so many dividing walls. Her new place separated a small living room area from the dining area.
All together, open concept, common living areas, make it roomier, too.

Ah yes, putting metal in the microwave...Alex is probably the kind of guy to attempt to call 911 on the microwave too! But seriously, DON'T DO THAT! While the MythBusters have shown putting metal in a microwave won't cause a fire every time, it still CAN! Metal is bad at absorbing microwaves, since metal doesn’t contain any water, it has no way to effectively use those microwaves. Without something to efficiently absorb the energy this attraction produces (i.e., food), the metal transfers it to whatever’s nearby, namely, the internal circuitry of your oven, resulting in overheating and possibly fire. The thinner and sharper your metal is, the more dangerous it is to stick it (alone) into your microwave

    * put a piece of fresh bread in your brown sugar for a day ; it will help balance humidity.
    sounds weird but it helps.
If the brown sugar is too wet/ humid, let the bread dry out (not toast it)..
    __________
soften your buttter first.. always cream butter & sugar , add liquids, then flour..
    (been cooking /baking since I was 10. 40 years)
= you can do this. :)
-pan: put a glass or metal pan in the fridge or freezer first for a little while; 15 min.. then grease the pan.. the room temperature butter or oil will stay on the sides of the pan better.
see if anyone dips the corn tortilla in some sugar water first, then oil; may keep them slightly supple. `just something I'd do .

This was fr me when one day my interior design teacher in HS decided we would have a day in the home ec kitchen (she also taught that class) and made us bake cookies to “learn color theory” 💀 didn’t help I was the only one in that class that didn’t also take home ec. Also used popcorn butter flavoring instead of vanilla extract too it actually wasn’t that bad I make it every year now lol

Also, genuine question. I am swedish, do people in america not learn how to cook in school?

It's an optional class only a few people take, and how useful that class is varies a lot.

not really, it was an optional course you could take at my high school tho.
its either offered as something you COULD do or not at all.
also i should mention my school is in an middle to upple middle class area. poorer schools probably dont even give kids the option

ecoli and other bacteria can get to the grain while it's in the field or being milled. softened butter definitely much easier. definitely don't eat straight extracts, that's why they are extracts and you're only supposed to put a small amount. also, I used to make edible cookie dough all the time🤤😂

Did your primary cooking parent never let you in the kitchen during childhood?
