    Great and inspiring video!! A bit unlucky, you had to undo some of your work to put a new starter clutch... 😅😅

    What do you think caused these problems, bad oil?
    I see you switched from Motul to silkolene.

      Most likely heavy loads in 2nd gear.
      This DR has gone thru some stuff.
      When riding casually, you wouldn’t even know it, only under hard load, approximately after 5000rpm, the bike jumped from 2nd to N.
      The gear and the fork I replaced measured out to be just on the service limit, just enough to course the bike to pop out of gear under a load.
      The oil was provided by the owner.

      Oh, I see, I thought this was your bike.
      I appreciate the reply. 👍🏻

    So wait what did you do to fix dropping out of 2nd gear? 😂

    • @restorationvalve
      @restorationvalve  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Replaced the 24351-14A10 gear because it had rounded-off edges and the fork 25211-37401 which had marks on it. When measuring them out, they barely were in spec. On normal riding the bike was fine, but under hard acceleration, at the end of the rpm range it popped out of the 2nd gear.
      Also, I replaced the thrust washers for the clutch basket, the nut on the end of the shaft was also loose.

    And you think that crank shaft is still true, after whacking it with a hammer and dropping it on the work bench? That's why I don' t trust "mechanics" to work on my bikes.

      @@mementomori4972 thanks for the input👍. Can share that the engine in the video is happily running. Did the same on my red DR, after 8000km the engine is still running strong.

      @@restorationvalve It will run, even if the shaft is out of spec but it won't run optimal and it will wear faster and you fckng know it!..There is a reason why it takes time and costs money to get a crank true and balanced but if your excuse for doing things like that to a customers bike is, "bUt iT rUns" then you're beyond good advice anyways. I'm just sorry for your customers.
