  • Switzerland is a rather small country but has plenty of beautiful villages. Many of them have maintained their traditional appearance, which has attracted numerous tourists from all over the world. The diversity of the Swiss villages has fascinated many visitors, whichever region you visit, the villages all look unique and different. Some people say that you only will get to feel the authentic villages, when you choose to visit one or more of the many traditional villages. But which ones are worth to visit? With this video, I proudly present you my TOP 10 MOST BEAUTIFUL VILLAGES OF SWITZERLAND for the year 2023 in detail. I am sure that you may be familiar with a few of these 10 villages, but the majority on this list will most likely be new to you! This is likely the most detailed travel guide video about Swiss villages here on TH-cam! Wonderful Marthalen lays in northern Switzerland in Zürich’s wine land region. The village charms with its many wood frame houses and alleys. Marthalen is best to be visited during Spring and Summer, when the entire landscape shines in green. Nearby attractions would be the village of Rheinau with its monastery and the Rhine falls, Europe’s tallest river waterfall. Gandria in Ticino is a beautiful hanging fishing village just at the boarder to Italy. Gandria is best to be visited by boat from Lugano, Morcote or Porlezza. The village has numerous stairs and alleys and feels like a maze, quite exciting! Poschiavo is located in the Italian-speaking part of the canton of Graubünden. The village is rather large and the most alive among all of these villages on this Top 10 list. The village also has a very interesting history one can learn about in the three local museums. Lessoc is a rather secret village located in Fribourg. It’s less noticed due to the more famous nearby towns of Gruyères and Château d’Oex. Lessoc is great for those visitors who want to avoid crowds. Sonogno is the uppermost village in the very touristy Valle Verzasca. It’s very popular among Swiss and German visitors but remains rather unknown to the rest of the world. The village charms with its traditional stone houses and alleys. Albinen is the hidden gem of this list. It’s very similar to Grimentz but the core is larger and there are more details to discover. The village is very raw, alone this fact is a strong reason for anyone to come here. Albinen is best to be combined with nearby Leukerbad, the Swiss oasis of wellness. Morcote remains a favorite for anyone who loves alluring villages. It’s similar to Gandria but busier. Consider climbing the hill to enjoy a great vista down to the church. Lungern is probably the most popular village on this Top 10 villages list. Lungern has been admired for its green hills and turquoise lake, definitely a wonderful alpine oasis to visit. Iseltwald, the winner of Last years’ Top 10 villages list does not seize to amaze its visitors. The village is full of these wonderful wooden houses that well blend with the lake and the green hills. Iseltwald is great to be included into a holiday at Interlaken. The winner of this year’s Top 10 Swiss Villages is Bosco Gurin! This place remains very raw despite its incredible beauty! Bosco Gurin is the perfect serene village one would seek to find. Enjoy walking around in the many alleys, spotting the traditional stone and wooden houses and enjoy the alpine environment. Another mind-blowing, super high-quality video from your team. My favorite would be #9 Gandria, due to its Mediterranean vibes. It looks colorful and fun. Incredible something like this exists in Switzerland! Those small alleys remind me a bit of Monaco and look really fun to explore. #6 Sonogno has breathtaking waters and rocks. Roman bridges? As someone that's lived in America for the past 20 years, this blows me away. The waterfall not too far away has now been added to my bucket list :D And finally #1 Bosco Gurin is a great choice. It's as if God himself designed the perfect village in the most scenic, hidden place in Switzerland. Wow, Ticino truly is a beauty... makes me want to learn Italian!

    I am very fortunate to have a passport that does NOT require a visa to stay beyond 90 days in Switzerland. I've spoken to several immigrants in CH and have done quite a bit of research and have been told that being in Switzerland AND being fluent in English are major bonuses in helping land a job. The problem is the quota system for third national (I am Japanese). I thought to myself perhaps in Zürich I would have the best opportunity for one of the limited residency permits as they have the most to give out (higher quota due to higher population) but I am told that the competition in Canton Zürich is fierce. One person mentioned I may have better luck in a lower-competitive canton even if it means they have a smaller amount of permits to give out. I don't care if it's Uri or Appenzell-Innerholden (all jokes aside, I would gladly take it!). My skill set is native-level Japanese, which I am told may be useful for Zurich Airport, or the Mariotte other hotels that service Japanese tourists (who love to ski in the Alps!). I plan to get permission to stay beyond 90 days but I must choose a canton. I also plan to join the Swiss-Japanese society to network to help me find a job. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

      I might also mention that I should be able to pass the A2 CEFR exam for German in April (zurzeit nur hochdeutsch naturlich). I speak Spanish also and plan to learn French (they have many similarities), perhaps in 2024 if I can learn B1 German by the end of 2023.

    • @jjauger96
      @jjauger96 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Good luck to you! That sounds like a nice plan. My ethnicity is Swiss.
      My two cents not being a Swiss native,
      Don't worry about being IN Zurich Canton. A lot of the cantons rely on tourism. You speaking Japanese, English, Spanish is a big plus. If you're wanting to be in the hospitality industry, with a knowledge of language in a country like Switzerland, it shouldn't be a problem , is what I'm trying to say. 👍🏻

    • @DjemoGraphic
      @DjemoGraphic  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ohaio gotsaimasu! I guess alone the fact u can speak Japanese is a big plus. You may want to learn German as well. There are many fields where Japanese language skills are required. I love Japan. Its one of my 3 favorite countries!🇨🇭🤝🏽🇯🇵

    • @roseforeuropa
      @roseforeuropa ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jjauger96 Thanks! That is very encouraging! I've been told there is a demand for Japanese speakers due to, once again, the many Japanese tourists who pass through Switzerland. The Japanese are well-known to be big spenders, but also well-known to severely lack language skills (most only speaking VERY broken English at best!). I will gladly accept from any canton a residency permit! I may just ask Kanton Zürich for permission to stay 6 months to network, and then figure out which exact canton to go to next for job opportunities after I get feedback from the locals.

    • @roseforeuropa
      @roseforeuropa ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@DjemoGraphic Very cool! I will be going to Japan this year for a couple months to visit my sister :) Also, although I've been told once that speaking only hochdeutsch is similar to only speaking English, that is to say, I may be able to communicate with the locals but I will eventually have to learn the local Schwiizerdütsch dialect if I want to fit in. What do you think are some fields where native-level Japanese language skills might be required? My background is in sales and I'm good with people. The only two ideas I've been suggested are the airport or the hospitality industry.

      @@DjemoGraphic I want to see San Romero. I am not aware of a specific village called San Romero in Switzerland, but Switzerland is known for its picturesque villages nestled in the mountains with traditional architecture and stunning views of the surrounding landscape. These villages often have a serene and peaceful atmosphere, with a strong sense of community among the residents. Many of them are also popular tourist destinations, offering hiking and skiing opportunities, as well as local crafts and delicious food.
