    Get a flexible drill driver extension for the odd screw locations.

      Great tip! A flexible drill driver extension sounds like a game changer for those hard spots. I’ll definitely look into it - thanks for sharing!

      @@steveunderwood6576 The Vevo diesel heater sounds like a great choice - those are known for being super reliable. I hope to get one of those in my build someday! But the propane Mr.heater will have to do for now!

    My plan so far is simple canned foods and occasional restaurants. I have no intention on cooking yet unless I get surprised.

    • @AdamxSoldo
      @AdamxSoldo  5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@steveunderwood6576 Sounds like a solid plan to keep things simple! Canned foods and restaurants are definitely convenient, especially when starting out. If you ever decide to experiment with cooking, there are some super easy, one-pot recipes that work great for van life. Insta pots are great and you can cook some delicious meals with that! Once I install a real refrigerator I can’t wait to use that more typically would have to cook those kinds of meals with fresh ingredients by a store

    Are you going to video and share how you saw down those wooden slats under your bed frame. I have those as well and was thinking that would so much better to not have them. Do you think it will compromise the stability of the bed frame ?

    • @AdamxSoldo
      @AdamxSoldo  3 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Great question! I’m planning to make a video showing how I remove just the problematic slat that’s been giving me trouble. I’ll also test the stability afterward and share any adjustments I make to keep everything secure.

      @ Thank you! I’ll wait to see how it goes . What tools you use and most of all will the bed still be stable without those wooden pieces between the legs.

    Quick question, How high is your bed frame?
    How tall are you?
    If you had to do it again are you happy with the setup.
    I ask this because I'm working on my 2008 chevy express. Basically the only difference in mine is i have barn doors.
    I believe being able to sit up in bed is more important then storage? What do you think? My plan is to put storage on roof and i have a rack that mounts in the hitch. So storage shouldn't be to bad.
    What would you say is something i should do that you didn't realize until you lived in a van a while. Im very open to any opinions. Im blessed with my parents owned a motorhome dealership when i was young so ive had knowledge on how to work on motorhomes. Plus I was a mechanic for years. Just home design wasn't my thing 😊.

    • @AdamxSoldo
      @AdamxSoldo  4 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      My bed frame is 16 inches tall, and I’m 6’5”. I can sit comfortably on the bed with enough headroom. I agree that being able to sit up is super important, and your plan to use roof and hitch storage sounds like a great way to maximize space. One thing I didn’t fully realize until living in a van was how crucial insulation and airflow are for staying comfortable year-round. It’s awesome that you’ve got such a solid background with motorhomes and mechanics - it’ll definitely give you an edge in your build!

      @AdamxSoldo thank you. Didn't realize you were so tall. That's cool but sucks for van life. I'm 5'7 on my best day so I can sleep sideways without issues.
      I really appreciate the information. It will give me a great starting point for the platform. I just ordered a mattress it's a short queen. I believe it's 6in thick.
      Well have a goodnight I'll let you know when I get it together. TTYL.

    With a hand saw, saw in between those legs and remove it you don't really need it and if you want to put a bracket there to keep it secure. I hope that made sense just trying to help.

    • @AdamxSoldo
      @AdamxSoldo  3 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Thanks for the advice! That does make sense, and I appreciate you taking the time to explain it. I’ll definitely consider adding a bracket for extra security if I decide to remove it. This will be the next thing that I do!
