They're all made in Pakistan at a handful of factories. Fake or real, the quality is often indistinguishable. Shoyoroll, Manto, and Koral are literally made in the same factory.
You make a good point but I can assure you the quality on the fake was nowhere near up to par with the Shoyoroll. My video tried to show the quality issues with the fake one as well
Just bought one from eBay and everything matches up except for the patch on the bottom of the jacket seems big, also the patch below the knees does not overlap the stitching, and the size tag font is slightly different..other than that everything matches up all the way down to the rasta tap. Fake ?
Those aren't even the same model! They're even different generations! The patch on the bottom of the collar with the bear is what they used pre-batch 8.
You are right the tags are from different models but I was comparing the original Competitor gi to a gi that was supposed to be the Competitor gi. It was a fake. Up until Batch 71 SYR did not produce another Competitor gi so there should not have been one with a red patch until now.
For some reason I have been receiving a number of comments suggesting I am not comparing the same model gis I don't think that is the case as I am pretty sure Shoyoroll only made theCompetitor model with the large shoyoroll patch on the shoulder one time and that model had the old Shoyoroll interior tags and not the newer red ones. The blue gi in this video is without a doubt a fake. If you think it is real then you do not know your Shoyoroll gis. I have owned no less than 20 different Shoyoroll gis over the years so I'm a pretty good judge of what is legit.
+J Chavez (BJJTanuki) I recently bought a blue competitor kimono. After two weeks of training BJJ, tapes on the arms, legs and edges of the GI began to rip off. After a month tapes ripped off completely and they revealed material folding that was hidden beneath them. So without them, GI is useless because material will come undone....
+mnj01 same problem here. I bought similar "rasta" woven seam tape/ribbon from ebay and will take it to a seamstress to fix. The square patch on the pants is falling out as well.
Shoyoroll is re-releasing the Competitor Gi as Batch 71. This one will feature a red label but black size tag otherwise they look alike. There are a lot of fakes out there -- especially the highly sought after models like the Illest x SYR model 1. They are not charging the high prices that the real ones are fetching but they are charging enough to make you think it is plausible that it is the real deal. In most cases it is not. Fortunately for SYR fans they have released a large number of gis in the last couple of years and you can pick one up at a reasonable price. They are still my favorite gis and I don't want people to fall victim to fakes. If you want to buy a fake that is up to you. I've found them to be of a lower quality than the real deal with poor stitching. The "same-as-real-deal" fakes seem like a unicorn to me but your mileage may differ. Bottom line is go roll!
I bought a white gi competitor used, it has the makings of a real gi expect there is no logo on back of the top gi, is it still fake ? I pick it up for 50.00
Not necessarily. Many people removed the large Shoyoroll patch from their Competitor gis. If the other markings look right then you probably have a real but incomplete Competitor gi
Also, Shoyoroll has put out a lot of Competitor gis since this video came out but only one had the large SYR patch on the back. They didn't bring that back until Batch 71
Because I see some shoyoroll kimonos made in los angeles CA and others made in Pakistan? Which of the two and fake? Or all are made the same in Pakistan?
What tells you it is a fake appart from the construction differences? Your genuine "control" gi is not even of the same batch/model. Proof that the seller is a bootleg would be better evidence. Search for the Protech Uniblue review on youtube. It has a white A2 label. Do you think they got a fake?
Thanks for your comment. I compared the two gis because I think that is the only batch to have those large Shoyoroll patches on them. I have about 8 shoyoroll gis and it is very clear this is a fake.
If you look at the Protech Uniblue review it has a white A2 label but everything else is different from this fake. It has the shoulder patch over the right shoulder, the rasta tape is thin, it doesn't have weird stitching. The one in this video is clearly a fake. Supposedly there's some fakes that are the same quality as Shoyoroll if you can get the fakes from Pakistan. I heard they have the exact design patterns and they don't care about making fakes since Shoyoroll only does limited runs they aren't worried about business. Not sure about the quality of the fakes from Pakistan since they have 10-20 gi minimums...
RabidMonkeyOnCrack I've heard about the "perfect fakes" too and I imagine if they are identical to the real ones they wouldn't be fakes but merely unauthorized. I made the video so people who don't have access to the real thing can spot fakes
J Chavez Also, that tag on the bottom of the collar is what the used on all their gi's pre-batch 8 (basically what they used in 2010). So just because it has that label doesn't mean it's fake. You're comparing different models and years.
I can assure you the blue one is fake. They did not make the Competitor Gi with the large patch after the original version until version 71 which was just released
Well I just messed up and bought 2 fake shoyoroll gis. Lmao. My stupidity. Did you buy on eBay. A company from Pakistan ripped me off. I should have known better.

I’m more than sure they were made across the table from each other. No cap.

PROBABLY FROM THE SAME FACTORY. My buddy has one. Just asked if it's the same quality. If it is quality, I'd get. It's half the price.

Thanks for the review. It's like spotting a fake Louis Vuitton product.

Thanks man, you just saved me from buying a fake shoyoroll! Nice video!
My pleasure. I would hate for people to mistakenly buy a fake
Shoyoroll is misspelled on the gray bottom lapel tag on the fake.
What about the GRIPS Jiu Jitsu Gi ?
I bought a white gi competitor used, it has the makings of a real gi expect there is no logo on back of the top gi, is it still fake ? I pick it up for 50.00

They're not going to make fake shoyorolls and make it to the exact same dimensions. Half price, or full. Your choice.
what about the quality and the strenght of the GI?
quality is different. Cheaper gi for sure. Poor stitching = scratchy gi.
Because I see some shoyoroll kimonos made in los angeles CA and others made in Pakistan? Which of the two and fake? Or all are made the same in Pakistan?
Shoyoroll makes certain models in LA like the Al Davis and the new Absolute but the others are made in Pakistan
A couple of SYR's models are made in Los Angeles (the "Al Davis" Raiders colors one comes to mind) but most are made in Pakistan.

Sorry bro, not a real good comparison video, but thx for the effort.
