    I apricate your insight into reading data/formulas and making it into more digestible form to make decisions with in game. I would love to see some gear breakdowns into why certain bonus stats are good and what they actually do for you

      Certainly the kind of thing I'd like to do, but there's a lot of things I don't know for sure and can't test (things like what Magical Interaction Speed even does, or how exactly Armor Penetration works), so if I were to do a breakdown like that, it might be operating on a bit of missing info and assumptions (kind of like how this video had to consider two different "reduced defense" possibilities).
      Still, some of the most useful stats are the ones I definitely know the workings of, and there's a few misconceptions about stats that I think could be cleared up. Maybe I'll do some focused breakdowns on those particular stats, and save the unknowns for later.

    Good video. Something missed is that speed is also a de facto survivability bonus, as attacks in this game are physically dodged, though of course that can't be quantified, but perhaps worth a brief mention.

    I think your analysis here is good, though i think if they focused more heavily on the defensive aspects of Rage rather than giving the highest DPS class a speed boost rivaling Fighter, Barbarian wouldn't be overperforming as much as they have been in the recent playtests.

    • @goten3965
      @goten3965 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      But if u take away that speed boost then barb becomes useless because playing barb would be chasing players running from u simulator and fighter has an advantage because it can equip any weapon even bow while also being able to wear a lot more armor than barb the speed boost is necessary because barbs weapons slows the user down so much

  • @straty7017

    I am pretty sure the Bonus HP from Strength Buffs such as Rage or Ale or Blessed didn't come filled when i tested. It was just an empty HP topoff waiting to be filled.
    So that would mean you would first have to heal back up with a potion or a Cleric which just isn't really feasable in most scenarios as the buffs only last so many seconds (you'd be slowed by the potion and animation while charging an enemy and you don't always have a pocket cleric with his heals ready in this exact timeframe).
    As for your Armor Rating Video, i basically did the same calculations in my Excel. ^^
    Great work on the videos my fellow math nerd.

    very well made video.
    Overall I have to say that rage is just a plain buff overall mostly for the mobility.
    being able to hit a target or run away because you are under rage is a game changer.
    Lastly but not less important, Rage increase ur HP and this is just a plain buff versus magic damage that shouldn't be understimated at all!

    Have you seen the imortal Fighter That stacked Max Damage Reduction - 100%? I would be interested in seeing how you could break other champions builds in the same manner. Do you think this is something your interested in doing?

  • @Xyvansuba

    I am not sure if reducing 20% defence is taking 20% more dmg, take rogue weakpoint as example reducing 50% defence, it is reducing AC by 50%(70% -->35% not 20% here) not as much as doing 50% more dmg, and it is not subtracting the ac by 50%
    is it FTL music?

    • @clowdk
      @clowdk  ปีที่แล้ว

      I did go over that possibility! Unfortunately I can't seem to find an exact source on how it functions, so I'm going to have to do a lotta testing in the next playtest.

    I feel like 95% confident that rage is taken from damage reduction. The fighter has a perk called "Barricade" which states that "When in a defensive stance, the defense rating bonus is increased by 15%". I can 100% confirm that this perk is directly additive with your existing physical damage reduction. The wording on rage is a little different but the both refer to a "defense" stat. Additionally from what I have heard the rouges Weakpoint Attack debuff is also an additive -50% physical reduction with your existing reduction. I never played rouge so not 100% but there is a general trend that I've noticed where stats in this game are almost always additive so I would expect rage to work the same way. Still a good video though.

    • @clowdk
      @clowdk  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've now heard that Weakpoint is multiplicative with Armor Rating, multiplicative with Damage Reduction, and now additive with Damage Reduction! I really need to make a note to test it thoroughly next time the game is open. I hope that the devs go the PoE route in the future and make sure language is very precise on perk/skill descriptions.

  • @ToriTrak

    So a spell that should makes the user defense wise weaker but offense wise stronger makes pretty much no difference on defense but makes you stronger in offense? Ya needs to be balanced since its clearly not doing what it should do.

    • @clowdk
      @clowdk  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm currently working on a comparison between the skills that give offensive buffs and almost none of them come with downsides, so Rage isn't unique there. Rage's offensive buff also isn't particularly strong compared to the DPS that some other skills provide. The only thing that sets Rage apart is that it also gives movement speed, which is a very good buff to have. If there's any reason to say Rage is unbalanced, it's that it has movement speed AND damage at the same time.

    • @narhwallord6985
      @narhwallord6985 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@clowdk I agree with that being the reason it is OP, but giving it an actual downside would totally fix that.
      I am hoping there's a rework to the stats system, adding constitution, and moving the added health front Strength to that would be a great start, and then making it so strength increases your carrying capacity (when that is added) seems fair.

  • @TheCosmicAstro-
    @TheCosmicAstro- ปีที่แล้ว

    I stopped using rage a while ago because the movement speed buff just didn't do enough and only lasts 6 seconds.
    Its still a good skill but the movement speed needs to last longer.
    Its really only effective against other barbarians or fighters without sprint. Since every other class is just faster than you lol.
    Nonetheless this is great information and a good deep dive into info I had no clue about

    • @clowdk
      @clowdk  ปีที่แล้ว

      I've always called it "better Sprint". I think it's one of the strongest skills in the game, though it's probably unnecessary if you have speed buffs from party members.

    • @TheCosmicAstro-
      @TheCosmicAstro- ปีที่แล้ว

      @clowdk interesting.
      I mostly play barb in goblin caves/solo.
      So don't have other speed buffs.
      Imo it's just really easy to wait out the 6 seconds due to barb being extremely slow and most classes and just kite you, so I much prefer something like Achilles which waits for you to hit.
      It does have its uses but weirdly I think they're woefully inconsistent unless you're using the speed to run away.
      Maybe I'm missing something? I'm not sure

    • @clowdk
      @clowdk  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheCosmicAstro-
      Barb's biggest weakness is speed, so anything to mitigate that is top-tier imo. 6 seconds is the same duration as Sprint, so it's not like Rage is uniquely short. Granted, I play Achilles Fist Barb in Goblin Caves a lot, and Rage is especially good on that build.
