He was just of a great scorer in 89 as he was in 1979 just that he was more of the orchestrator of running the offense till about 1985,Then from about 1985 till 1990 he pick up more of the scoring load as Kareem got older past his prime.
Magic could do it all,play all 5 position.In my opinion the best all around team player pretty much from 79 till 1990.Second bird,then Michael.Those first 12 years must have felt like 16 years, carrying that knee injury since 1981 and playing deep into the playoff with hamstring proneness eventually took its toll.He was not about volume shooting he was about playmaking doing what it took to win wether it was scoring 45pts or 18pts with22 assists 11 rebounds a demostration of playmaking magic involving the entire team to victory.

His offense was at just about his best at this time in his career, but definitely not his defense. His defense peaked earlier in his career. As far as absolute peak, I’d definitely say ‘87. About the same level of offense as here, but comfortably better defense then.

@@oneadvocate9517 Lebron has no footwork, post up game, or reliable midrange or three point shot. Like Shaq or Giannis, overwhelming physically and great at attacking the basket. More of a football player, really, and probably top ten GOAT, but altogether on a lower tier than Magic.
