Hi Rouliofr,There's a few different canopies in the PD line up that you''ll want to consider when you finish your AFF and work your way into your first gear purchase. Pulse, Storm, Sabre2, Spectre. At an appropriate wingloading these would each be options depending on your flying style. Give us a call once your through student training and we chat with you about the different models and arrange demo canopies for you to try. Talk to you soon!
Performance Designs Since starting skydiving me and my buddies always liked hooking up for a downplane at the end of every skydive we could.. and we did a lot of demos.. So sacrificing a fast canopy for dropping in low downplanes with my friends was not a hard choice.. naturally when buying my new canopy I chose the PD 176, I weigh about 145.. this was 1995.. which I am still jumping today.. I love it.. The great thing is I can go to any dropzone and find someone flying a similar canopy willing to learn their first bi plane, side by side, and either a down plane or corkscrew all on their first CRW jump.. never said I was smart but the PD canopy is comparably safe docking with many others as well.. and these are always very easy soft center cell docks initiated with braking from the front low.. nothing crazy.. I figured any idiot can turn and land fast right? I'm kidding it does look fun, landing a postage stamp. Lol. I've tried a sabre 135 a couple times back in 1997.. fun but so are downplanes and exhibitions, some with very tight landing spots , always 12 meters or larger of course.. Anyway, we got a small 4 guy demo team here on the central coast California considering these needs and buying your newest and best canopies, so I'm wondering, Storm or Lightening? I have to say I do like the fact that in over 20 years I have never come close to needing a reserve ride.. perfect on heading openings Everytime.. mostly.. 99.3%. With such reliability I still can't justify buying a cypress.. that might be the only flaw, so reliable it builds complacency.? Haha. My PD176 I ordered brand new and every opening it's been perfect in every way every time.. At the time nobody offered me reinforced leading edge like they do today.. .. although landing into the wind it does not want to drive forward at all.. I've just learned to always stay up wind.. if I can.. So.. Demos and Downplanes.. do we want Storms, or Lightnings.?
Love my PD Storm 170. Loaded at 1.22 so a little high probably for my jump numbers. But haven't had an issue in landing except the first one. Ground came up a far bit faster than I was use to. Since then they are all stand up and 80% inside the landing circle. Heaps of fun in the air also. I remember the first time I took the breaks off and felt the acceleration. :) Thanks for a great canopy. BTW opening are wicked smooth super fast, hardly ever see the snivel anymore :( and 95% on heading. :)
Hey there, we recommend you contacting us through our demo requests :) That way we can discuss all elements of the canopies with you and find the perfect fit. You can head over here to get more info: www.performancedesigns.com/sport-demos/ Thanks!
I did a search for "free dubstep" on TH-cam. It was one that came up, it's an edit of a couple short loops from one of the songs, the whole mix is around 2 hours I think. I don't have the name off the top of my head, but the mp3 file is actually called "free dubstep mix.mp3"
I think it would be great to precise what canopy for which skydiver.. I'm still a student, looking in a couple of years to buy a rig (and two PDs of course) so which canopies would you recommend for a guy like me ? The storm isn't to fast ? Is it enough tolerant for a guy with 200-300 skydives ? By the way nice videos on your channel, keep it like that ! Blue skies
Yeah, but could you put in down in a tight spot landing off at your experience level and wing loading? That's what matters, not so much that you land it ok in the middle of the DZ.
You need a video like this for all of your parachutes... I love watching these
What wing loading and size Storm is featured in this video?

I'm looking for a packing video for a seven cell canopy. I have a Storm 210 for demos. Need to brush up on packing it.

did you ever get your new canopy?
What gear did you eventually get?
Nice video. What is the name of the track playing in the background?
Haven't had any issues with that either on the rare occasion the spot is off. Just plan and make decisions early.

I guess You've already found it, but just in case - it's SubVibe - Burn (Fonik Remix)
I will only jump Performance Design Canopys.
