    Wow! Great PRs. Do you suggest more volume for a conjugate system? A 1,2 or 3 rep max isn't much volume

      Brian Alsruhe My pr in the close grip bench is only 130kg. That's 286lbs. I'd really like to be on your level, you're insane!

      I've just been at it longer man, you will get there. Try applying some of the tips I covered in my "how to initiate leg drive in the bench press" video

    alright brian big fan of your stuff. quick question do you follow louies advice and bench in a straight line,if so what muscle groups do you find most important to press in a straight line, I noticed people who drift back it hits more pec and delt. whats you views ,cheers mate

    • @BrianAlsruheOfficial
      @BrianAlsruheOfficial  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I push up and back personally because if I don't the bar isn't over my shoulders and is out in front of me. That usually doesn't end well for me. I don't do the straight line thing so i really couldn't say man. Wish i could be more helpful. Sorry about that!

    • @dannymoore1000
      @dannymoore1000 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      cheers for the quick reply brian, coz you press back over your shoulders is that why if your ohp gos up you know your bench has gone up you think?

    • @BrianAlsruheOfficial
      @BrianAlsruheOfficial  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe, but the way i bench, I am defining more shoulders and triceps. I used to be mainly pec but that had more to do with my grip width and elbow position than my bar path

    Nice! So how much approx do you think that monster tire weighs?

    • @BrianAlsruheOfficial
      @BrianAlsruheOfficial  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +stiffsailor I'd say somewhere between 1000 and 1300. but you never really know

    Hey Brian,
    Besides conjugate what other systems are you cycling through?
    Thanks man

      I have done cube, 5/3/1, DUP, linear Progression but mostly I just make up my own programming because it has to cover so many different things because of the strongman stuff

  • @theBoonarmies
    @theBoonarmies 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    have you got bands strung around your bench for grip?

    • @BrianAlsruheOfficial
      @BrianAlsruheOfficial  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, it helps me stick to the bench...Works awesome!

    I wish you had a monolift to squat out of... You would hit crazy weights if you did. The walkout always looks harder than the squat itself

    Now I'm curious if anyone has flipped that tire yet.

    • @BrianAlsruheOfficial
      @BrianAlsruheOfficial  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah man, for reps. I did an entire video about it where we took the tire to a landfill to get it weighed

    are you a natural athlete? just wondering becuase when i tell people i squat and deadlift in the low 600s and bench 455 and overhead strict press over 275 im 6'1 240lbs i have a big 6 pack but i don't have a single digit bodyfat so id like to think im doing well i get steroid accusations and tend to get into arguments with people about it and they would tell me if im not on steroids i probably have super good genetics, the thing is i dont i worked my ass off for the past 8 years of lifting due to my wrestling background i was a little bit stronger than most gym bros when i first started but i definitely struggled to put on size and gain strength and all i did was research and trial and error but people's mindset are so fixed on lifting a lot of weight means yours on steroids youre a very strong and big dude i was just wondering because there are many guys like me or even bigger or stronger than me out there who are natural and id think that my gym prs are only good compared to the average gym bros i think im average compared to most athletes i think squatting and deadlifting 600 is nothing as long as you put in the work.

    • @BrianAlsruheOfficial
      @BrianAlsruheOfficial  7 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      Yea man, I am in a similar boat as you. I have 23 years of lifting under my belt, but I don't really ever answer the question because the internet never believe me anyway.

      Brian Alsruhe No way your natty? Not hating, but how do you maintain such low bodyfat while gaining strength at an elite level and doing gomad??

    • @MLDRBRY
      @MLDRBRY 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Swole Fucking Meatball If your job is to train, and you have 20 years of muscle built on you, gomad isnt going to make you fat. Maybe doing it for a year would.

    Hitting the rack...I fucking HATE that! It is one of the best ways to lose momentum...and pending on how heavy the weight is, it is the a leading cause of butt pucker syndrome...

    That tire looks awful... I've never had the chance to try tire flip but it's something I'll like to try one day. And congrats on the PRs!
